Dori H- Mechanical Anglerfish

The title of this image is “Mechanical Anglerfish”. The fish was made with a collection of pieces of metals I've taken throughout the past two years. The main base image I used was a large piece of metal vent that I took in a bookstore and the light bulb was taken in an abandoned building in Bessemer. I first drew the base shape of the angler fish and used a clipping mask to lay the images overtop the fish shape. After making the fish, I added a glow from the lightbulb and drew dust particles that you would typically see in deep seawater. I do want to go back eventually and edit the lighting of the fish to make it look like the lightbulb is the only light source. I’d also like to add more of a contrast to the image because the dust particles look slightly flat in my opinion.

That just looks amazing! I can’t describe how cool it looks, you can tell there’s literally an incredible amount of effort in this picture. I will say that the idea of making the lightbulb the only source of light is definitely a good idea, but I think the light particles are perfect just the way they are. It looks really, really cool though. Amazing job Dori!

This is actually one of the coolest images I've seen in a while. This is such an interesting concept, and you executed it perfectly. I don't think you need to change the lighting because it makes it seem like there are other sea creatures hiding out of sight. You should definitely experiment with this concept more in the future.

You just accused me of sucking up to you so ignore this message. You stink.

This image is fantastic! Love how you used a combination of many different things and techniques to make this one photo. The time and effort you put into it really shows and it looks great! The particles in the water look very realistic and the angler fish has great detail, but still has its own unique style. This would be a great one to hang up somewhere! Only suggestions I have would be to play around with some contrast or curve adjustments, and maybe even some Nik collection filters. Overall great job!

The lighting of the image and mechanical look are both god at making it look scarier as I it was actually deep underwater. I also like the dots around the image and the mechanical look is really good along with the light benign actual light bulb. I think maybe a little more color in the dots but I do get that you were trying to make it scarier and darker.
