Carson R - Lookout

This image is entitled “Lookout”. It was taken over the break in Busch Gardens in Tampa with a Nikon d7500. I edited this image by increasing the contrast and desaturating the fur of the meerkat, as the dirt in their enclosure was very red. I also used the dodge and burn tool to edit its face and fur. This is not one of my favorite images but I haven’t really edited any other images recently.

Alyssa C- Decay

The name of this image is “Decay.” I took this photo right after it had rained at Andy’s nursery. To edit this image I applied a filter over the image to darken it and then I decided to go in and add highlights to make the raindrops standout. After that was done I sharpened the edges of the petals and increased the contrast to help bring out the texture of the flowers. This is by far one of my favorite images that I have created so far this year.

Macy M - "howareyou?"

The title of this image is “howareyou?” The photos used were taken at Troy University on December 7th at 2:30pm. I took this with my Nikon D3400. I added a glow and grain to the photos and bumped up the saturation. I then made a black and white copy of both of the photos and put part of the black and white photo over the color photo. I wish their hair looked better. This photo is supposed to represent the transition in moods that occur with different personality disorders. How did I do?

Jasmine W - Lizard On The Moon

This image is called “lizard on the moon” for an obvious reason. This image is a composite of three images, well technically two images : the lizard and the moon. The moon image that I used was originally half of a moon but I did not want to use the same full moon that I continuously used in my images so I decided to create my own moon. I flipped the moon the right side and tried to connect them as best as I could, and I also used to stamp tool to create new or get rid of craters is that they would not look as if it was the same moon but flipped. Also, I contrasted the right hemisphere of the moon. In another tab photoshop, I turn the lizard black and white and magic selected the lizard and a little bit of the surrounding area so that when I put it on top of the moon I could see exactly see what I needed to erase, so that when I magic selected I didn’t accidentally take some of his body off. I created layers to paint some of the different areas dark and turned down the opacity. I  really like this picture a lot, mainly because of the contrast. The one thing I wish I would have tried harder on is the middle of the moon where the two moons connected so there wasn’t so many craters in the middle and that it had some non-crater areas but other than that I think it is a great picture.

Austin C. - Lol That's Funny

The image’s title is “Lol That’s Funny”. It was taken at the Birmingham Botanical Gardens sometime during the fall. I took this photo with my Nikon D3300 camera. I didn’t edit it too much, just some color adjustments and dragging things around. I think it could be better if it was blended more nicely and the colors all fit together better. Also if the lighting and contrast in some areas was slightly adjusted in either way the image would be improved.

Morgan H - Primary

My image is entitled ‘Primary’ because of the use of primary colors. I had taken this photo using my camera in the studio. I had edited it by changing the gradient map and adjusting the angle the colors hit. I had also used the drawing tool and created some interesting shapes. I really enjoy making photos with drawings on top of them, it adds something that a bland photo needs.

Annalisa P- Our Own Tunes

I shot this image during the start of Christmas break while some friends and I where camping. My friend Elliot can play the guitar pretty good and I snapped this one right before sunset. I edited the photo using photoshop and it was taken with my Canon t6. Next time I am going to focus more on the sky so it won’t be so over exposed and throw the colors off.

Zach B - Floating Spirits

This is one of the photos I have worked with for my AP portfolio. Out of every photo I’ve done this entire semester, I would have to say this is my favorite one. I love how well the light strides I made to surround the ape “holds” him up. I placed a blue tint to go over the ape and the worked with the burning and erase tool. I erased the eyes and made the face more intense using the burn tool. The last thing I did to make the photo complete for me was to use long exposure pictures of lights I created. Over all I am very please with how the image came out!

Katie N- 7 Rings

I call this picture “7 Rings” because of the song. I took this picture around two months ago at my Fall Retreat. I edited it by editing out a leaf and adding a whole lot of contrast and saturation to add texture and detail to the ripples. I don’t know how I could make it better.

Omar T-The Sunset

This photo was taken in down town Birmingham and shot with my Canon Rebel T6 and I didn’t do anything to the photo. I liked the photo just how it was and overall the sunset just looked pretty.

Hillary A- Untitled

I took this picture Downtown Birmingham. I took a picture if the statue that is by the pond. Also I took a pic of the sunset and I used it as the background for the statue thingy because the original background was kind of boring.

Anna S- Good Morning Kanye

I titled this image “Good Morning Kanye” because its the first thing that came to my mind since it is of a sunrise. I took it one morning as I was getting ready for school with my iPhone 8. I edited it on VSCO. I turned down the brightness and exposure to advance the colors in the sky. Then I adjusted the saturation and filtered it. I like how clam it is and pleased with the outcome.

Spencer B- Connection

Connection - there are multiple pictures in one and they were taken in nature. I used my phone to take these pictures. I grabbed three different pictures and combined them into one. I used the masking tool to blend the images. I am not sure how it could be better or worse because it is mainly a symbolic piece.

Jake D- Perspective

I like to call this photo “Perspective” simply because of the perspective that I shot this photo in. I like it because of its simplicity and how the sun follows the lines of this part of the umbrella. It captures all the details of the fuzzes on it as well. I also how it looks black and red at the same time. I took this with my Canon EOS Rebel T7i, and took it over Thanksgiving Break. I was at Seaside, walking down the boardwalk near the beach and just started shooting pictures. Eventually I took this one and I liked it a lot. Overall, I don’t think there is too much I would like to change about it. Id like maybe to see a bit more red on the string part itself, but thats it.

Hannah R- Circles

I took this photo for the circles assignment. I took it at night in my car. I edited it by increasing the saturation a lot and by brightening up the colors. I like how it turned out because of the colors, but I think the quality could have been less grainy. Overall I’m pretty happy with it.

Yuliana Z- Two Way Vision

The title of this piece is Two Way Vision. It was taken on December 11th, 2019 in the studio. I took it on my Canon EOS Rebel T6. I edited this photo by increasing the greens on the left side of Faye and her eye, on the right side I used the Nik Collections Indian Summer to make that portion of her eye more brown and distinctive. I also used detail extractor on both portions of her face to make her features pop. The photo could be better if I made the left side brighter to closer match the right side overall brightness. This picture was really fun to work with and it helped me explore using different editing techniques for the same unified picture.

Emily R- Beach View

This image is titled Beach View, this was taken at Tip Top in Bluff Park and the beach picture put in the window was taken in Gulf Shores, both taken in November. They were both taken with my phone, because I did not have my camera on me at the time. I put the picture over the actual view to make it more interesting. I then played with the levels an contrast to get the look I wanted. I really like the concept of this picture, but for some reason I cannot get it to look right, something looks off and I’m not happy with that, but overall I liked editing it and playing with photoshop.

Olivia N- Amazon

The image is called Amazon and was taken at the Birmingham Zoo last October 2019 with a PentaxK100D. I edited the image in Photoshop using the Nik Collection. I edited the picture by adding a filter, increasing the saturation, and having the background blurred around the bird. In certain areas, I increased the contrast in order to have some of the feathers more detailed and focused overall. The picture could have been better if some areas weren’t as saturated and bright in color.

Anna Claire H - Chicago Theater

I took this photo at the Chicago theater. I like this photo because I really like architectural photography. I took this photo with my iPhone during Christmas break.

Faye M--"Dog"

The title of my selected image is “Dog” because the subject is a dog. It was taken during the 2019 Bluff Park Art Show in October. It was taken with a Canon Rebel t6. I used the Color Efex and Viveza 2 filters from the Nik collection in order to do a general touch up with increased contrast and structure, but I then changed the hue to add the green parts of the dog. It could be better if I had gotten closer to the dog, but I like this picture regardless.

David J- Yyet

I look this picture at Seaside, FL over the break. It’s of sand getting dragged by water. I took it with my phone, and edited it by making it brighter and using the halftone line filter in photoshop. I don’t have a particular reason for naming it yyet.

Alexa S- Channel Shift

This is a composite image of a portrait. When editing, I selected the different channels of the image and shifted them horizontally. I also made other adjustments, such as, cloning a few areas to his face and increasing the saturation to make it pop a little more. I think it could be better if the top of his head wasn’t so faded.

Alex H - Down Town

I took this photo of my friend Blake down town Birmingham on my Cannon EOS rebel T3. I cut out half of the original and added the picture of the building in the back. I edited the colors to how I like and then I added a line of his left side to add definition.

Deebaj F- Little Brother

I took this picture of my brother last semester. This picture was taken with my Canon Rebel T6 . It was photographed in my house.  I edited it by turning down the brightness and contrast little bit.  I also use the Nik Collection to edit this picture. This could be better if it had more light on the left side of his face or more brightness.

Mollie E- "Pollution"

This image is titled “Pollution” for obvious reasons. I took the landscape picture at my grandmother’s house in Pell City and the trash picture was taken on the side of the road. I took this image with my Nikon d3400 camera. I edited this picture by putting the trash picture (which is edited in black and white) over the landscape and erasing the square from the center. I then set the trash picture to overlay and then I added a stroke line to the outside and inside. I don’t think there is anything I would change about this image. I intend to use this image in my AP portfolio.

Alexa P-Gloomy Ocean

The title of this image is called “ Gloomy Ocean’’ because of how dark and well gloomy it is. It was taken at the beach in Destin, Florida-sometime in September. I changed the color of the ocean water to a reddish color. I changed the color of the sky and just darkened the image overall. If I could change something about it, I would probably make the color of the ocean stand out a bit more.

Jasmine W - Dreamy Rainbow

At first, I wasn’t sure what to do with this picture because it looked so plain to me, I mean yea it is a rainbow but so what. I cropped the picture in cutting out the houses that were on the left and the bottom of the picture. I made one layer painting the bush/tree at the bottom left corner red and then turning down the opacity so it could stand out more. Also, I created another layer on top of the rainbow initially with yellow but I changed it to red and then turned down the opacity. The cloud was looking pixilated so I created a layer and attempted to used the colors that were already in the sky and paint over the original color with the paint to make it look more dreamy. I also used the stamp tool  by adding stars and fake looking snow and turning it to divide so that it would be white and turned down the opacity so they it would not be extremely noticeable. This is not my best picture, and I really struggled on what to do with it, and I think it could definitely look better.

Hayden H- Returning Home

I took this photo on January 5th, 2020 at the Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International Airport. This was a picture of a United Airlines flight from Houston, TX. I was just sitting atop a hill on approach to RNWY 24 when I saw the plane make its turn for final. I really like this photo because it shows the plane landing as well as the layout and surrounding of the airport. I edited this photo on Lightroom and added one of my favorite presets.

Ainsley M- Untitled

This image doesn’t have a title but it was taken back in September at my house and it was taken with a Nikon d3500. I edited it by adding a black and white filter, then adjusting the brightness and contrast in certain areas. I used the dodge and burn tool to make some areas lighter and others darker. I also used the sharpen tool to bring out more detail in her shirt, hands, and hair. I really like how it turned out but I also thing I could change some things to make it better!

Morgan H - Sepia

For my photo, I had taken it with my Canon T6 in my front yard about a month ago. I had also used a similar photo for our past project, but it’s too pretty to now showcase the flowers. I had edited it by changing the hue and saturation, then I had selected some flowers and turned them black and white to give a contrast. I also did tiny outlines of some petals, but that’s all folks!

Omar T-Red Sunset

I took this photo in November around downtown with my Canon Rebel T6. I didn’t do anything to the photo because I love how it looks like plain.

Mia R- Hot Rod

I took this with a canon t6. I made this picture of Morgan black and white and then I combined it with a picture I took of my curtains in my room and gave it a more blue tint. Then I drew words words on it.

Katie N- Starry Nights

I call this photo “Starry night”, I took this photo over the summer at the Grand Tetons. I edited it by adding a preset from the Nik collection. Also by adding contrast and saturation to give the waves more detail. I also added the stars in the sky. I don’t normaly add stuff like that but I wanted to get out of my comfort zone. I feel like it could be better if I was better at drawing the stars.

Stephanie T- Welcome to the Jungle

This photo was taken downtown around November. It was taken with a rebel t1i I completely added photoshop features with combining shapes and difference of colors and stamps. I think it could be better somewhere in the main center which is the focus point maybe adding more color pop to it.

Katie H- Sunny Rays

The title of this image is “sunny rays”. I took this picture for the chairs assignment. It was photographed in my house one morning when the sunny rays were peering through the windows on our dining room. To edit it, I used my burn and dodge tools to darken the background and brighten where the sun rays hit. I also messed with the contrast. If I had to fix one thing, I would take out the extra glow on the edges. Overall, I like the photo a lot!

Jasmine W - Color Block

My picture is called color block due to the fact that the one building is gray/black/dark and the one next to it colorful bright and happy. I edited it by turning down the brightness and the contrast but not too much to where the building is not as dark. I turned down the vibrance and bumped up the saturation. I did crop this picture in to include just the buildings. I took the picture on my Canon PowerShot SX350 HS downtown by UAB. If I could change anything I would lighten or remove the shadows on the windows on the colorful building because I think it would make it brighter. Overall, it is not my best work but it is a pretty good concept in my opinion.

Esmeralda V- Young Forever

I created this image based on a song that expresses the freedom of the youth and the dreams they hold. I started the creation of this image with a photo of my brother in the sky. I then added different butterflies to give the photo a nice kick. I took different butterflies from Pinterest >.< and added them to the sky and then added a haze filter to the whole image.
