Emily K - Ocean in The Palm of Your Hand

This image is called “Ocean in The Palm of Your Hand” and it was taken at my house on September 24, 2023 with my Canon t7 for the hands and feet assignment. I cropped it, added a surfer that I got from the internet, and added an artistic filter. I also adjusted a few of the colors and contrasts to make the paint brighter. I think it could have been better if the models fingers were closer together because I feel like the space between makes it too divided. I had a lot of fun setting up this picture and editing it! 

 

Nathan E- Hop Hop

 I took this photo when I was on a nature walk with my environmental science class. I got close up and zoomed in and got this really cool shot. I really love the angle and the focus on the subject.

Brandon B- Abandoned Valley

 This image is titled “Abandoned Valley” and is a combination of images taken over the summer of 2023.  This was taken with my iPhone 13 Pro and edited in Photoshop.  I edited this by using a variety of images at different angles and using the mask tool with various types of brushes.  I then edited the hue of each section to have an unrealistic feel to the image.  Finally, I flattened the image and adjusted the curves to enhance some detail and color.  This could be better if I spent more time on the masks and possibly added even more.

Kay A- Aruna

 The title of this selected image is Aruna which means “moon love” in Japanese, This image was taken in Nashville Tennessee with my Canon EOS revel What I did to edit was I used the Nix Collection filter, the dodge tool, as well as the cropping tool with the generative expand. I think it could have been better if the buildings stood out a bit more.

Helen S- Meadow Cat

I titled this image “Meadow Cat” I took this over the weekend at my aunts house before a family gathering. I used my Iphone 12 pro max to take it. I used the burn tool to give the image more definition and cropped the bottom some. As well as using the healing brush to touch up minor spots in the image. I think that if I used my professional camera the quality would be much better but I had to work with what I had.

 

Caroline M- Jefferson County K9

 The name of this image is Jefferson County K9. It was taken August 1st 2023 at Jefferson County's National Night Out on my Nikon D3300. To edit it I darkened it and gave it a very light orange tint. I wish I darkened it a little bit more and I wish the shadows weren't so prominent  but overall I really like this photo.

Alex B-H - Studious

 I called this Studious, I took this in the Spirit Halloween parking lot, on September 10th at 7:00pm. I took this on my Iphone 13 with the 0.5 mode(that's why it looks so funny). I used the camera raw filter to edit. I wish I had been standing a bit more still. 

Michelle R- The Zone

 This photo was taken in my house last week. It was taken with my camera I used a wide lens and a normal lens. I splattered some paint and darkened the photo and converted it to purple and pink.I think something could have been added to better it.

Dylan T- Halloween

 I call this one halloween(pretty self explanatory. I took this in the back studio last week with my canon rebel t7 for my story illustration project. This on i actually did edit i made a bunch of layers and added some grainy effects on the mask just to make it look more realistic. I could’ve taken it where the top looks less like a mask and more natural but im still satisfied with the final product

Vincent S- A Fitting Out Nowhere

I took this image at the WaterMark in one of the unused rooms there using my Canon camera. I didn’t edit it because I feel as if the vibe I was going for is better achieved raw. I took this picture with the intention of capturing a place that looks like people should populate it but fail to and I think I did pretty well with this one.

Wendy S- Lucy

 The title of my image is “Lucy” Lucy is the black lab in the photot. It was taken at a friends lakehouse back in easter when we got on their boat. This photo was taken by me with my Iphone i did adjust the lighting but overall the sunlight really brought her eyes out. It would be better if i could crop out the girl next to lucy but if i did so Lucy would also be cropped so i decided to leave the image as it is. 

Sophia T - Graduated!

 I took this image while at my brother’s graduation at Auburn University. My subject is my brother’s girlfriend, who is clearly very proud and excited for my brother. I lightly edited it, increasing the light and color contrast slightly. I love how candid this picture is. If I were to change anything, I would probably reduce the noise and increase the color saturation slightly. I would have also liked to see this image taken from different angles. 

Jade S- Bluey Days

 The title of this image is “Bluey Days''. I took this photo about a week ago at the Eagle complex. It was taken with an Iphone 11 Pro Max. I edited it with photoshop and all I did was add a color pop and blue mood filter. I could have gotten a clearer shot if I was standing up and I would've gotten all the fields in it, but overall I think it needs a lot of improvement. 

Evan S- Sky

 This image is called“Sky”, It was taken at the Galleria. I took it with a Nikon D3000 and it has .0 editing. To make it better It should be edited.

Aidan P- Dark Day

 This image was taken on my porch during a sunny rain. I changed the grass to purple and the sky is light but I made everything else darker including the sky some. I thought it made it creepier. I did it for the site image assignment but I took the picture a good bit before that. I do like it but wish I had a bit more detail on some parts.

Kenn J- Eternal High

 This was taken in New Orleans during Essence festival on the strip. It was taken with my iPhone. I adjusted the hue and saturation then I also did a composite to lay another picture on top of the one taken from the strip and that photo was taken a little while ago last year. I really like it I would wish for some other parts to be more apparent than others.

Mia N - Green

 I took this picture downtown at Railroad Park about two weeks ago. It was taken with my Nikon-Z50. This picture is unedited, I think it would definitely be much better if I edited it a little. 

Marcie M - Shrooms

 I titled this image “Shrooms” because it is a picture of either turkey tail or false turkey tail, which are a type of mushroom. The original photo was quite boring, so I decided to heavily edit it so it simulates a typical depiction of a “shroom trip.” This was taken in Moss Rock back in August with my iPhone, and I edited it by changing the hue and adding an overlay to blend into the background. My main goal of this photo was to give the human eye some pretty colors to look at without hurting the viewer’s eyes. Due to the heavy edits, you can’t quite tell what the picture is, but I decided to keep the monotonous colors of the image.

Nathan E - Survival Spirt

 This was my Hunger Game assessment i did. With the photo by its self it captures a persons wild soul. Really shows a fighting spirt. I took the mocking bird for the bird and the girl is a friend of mine and her eye with fire in it.

Maci J- Hungry Penguin

 The title of this image is Hungry Penguin. I took this photo this past summer at the “Gulfarium” in Destin, Florida. There were river otters, lots of penguins, seals, and more. I really enjoy animals but it was just very hot when my family went. This photo was also taken with my Canon camera. I did minimal editing to lighting and shadows, but then used the Nik Collection to get a vignette. This image could be better if I made features of the penguin more defining, it’s just a very simple image. 

Nikolaus H- Saturn V

 The title of this image is Saturn V, it was taken at the US Space and Rocket Center on September 3rd this year. It was taken with my Iphone 12 mini. I left it unchanged, though i did use the .5 lens to scale the image. It could be better if I made the image more dynamic with other features. 

Steven L - Chilling

 The title of this picture is “Chilling.” It was taken on August 14, 2023 and it was taken in a public pool that’s near to my apartment. I took it with my camera, a Kodak PixPro. I didn’t make any edits to it, and I think that’s how It could be better. I think that if I increase the vibrance and decrease the brightness. I just really like how it looks, and I didn’t think it would end up looking like this because I was just “chilling” in the pool.

Emily K - The Driver Era

This picture was taken in August of 2022 at the Iron City concert venue with my iPhone and it is titled The Driver Era because that was the name of the band. I didn’t do any editing because I really like how it naturally looks. I think it could’ve been better if I had a better quality camera in the moment because it’s a little grainy. I love this picture because it is such a good memory and I feel like I captured the concert vibe very well! 

 

Dori H- Trapped

This image is titled Trapped, it reminds me of Rapunzel being trapped in her tower, hence the title. This image was taken at Red Mountain park in one of the unused buildings and I took it in mid August. It was taken with my Canon EOS R however the settings of the camera were not adjusted properly, this led to a very overexposed and blurry photo. Luckily I adjusted the lights and the blacks which improved the lighting of the photo. Then I went and sharpened the blurred sections of the image. I warmed up the image and added some deeper shadows. I wish I had taken the image with the proper settings but the outcome was still good.  

Chai C- The Edge

 This piece is titled The Edge, and it was taken on Labor Day weekend of 2023 at a private pool in Dadeville, Alabama. The image was taken with an old Canon camera, which I have forgotten the specs of at this time. I edited the image with Photoshop by changing the saturation and hue of the water to add some vibrancy and life to the image. I think I could’ve tried to add more to the image to make it a bit more interesting, but I’m not exactly sure how to do so. 

Paris C- Beyond

 The title of my selected image is beyond. It was taken on a cruise during the summer. It was taken with my phone. I edited by making the colors more darker and clearer adding contrast and shadows to different sections. I feel like the picture is good in my opinion. 

Nikolaus H- Around Moss Rock

I took this photo around moss rock earlier this year with a Pentax k100d. I edited it by changing the definition, increasing the contrast, editing the colors, and a lot more. It could’ve been better if I had gotten rid of the pixel texture at the top to make it a nice gradient. 

 

Emma B- Behind The Scenes

 I took this photograph Aug 8, 2023 in the studio. I took this photograph with my iPhone 11 Pro Max and edited it by using the Nik collection to make it black and white, increasing the contrast, black points, and shadows. Then I expanded to photo and colored the outside black. Next, I used the erase tool and removed the wire for the fairy lights. Finally, I added the text and blended it into the backdrop. It could be better if the quality was higher. But at the same time, I kinda like the grainy look. Shout out to the model Emily :)

Brandon B- The Storm

 This image is titled “The Storm” as there was a heavy storm coming in when this photo was taken on July 5th, 2023 while headed to Florida.  It was taken on my iPhone 13 Pro.  I edited this by implementing darker/cool colors with hue.  Finally I added some fog and rain with a mask over it for an almost ash effect.  This could be better if I filled some of the dead space and took more time on the fine details.

Kay A- Fairy Garden

 The title of this image is Fairy Garden It was taken at the Birmingham Botanical Gardens, on Sep 10, 2023, with my Canon Revel EOS. I edited it by cropping the image and adding the Nix collection filter as well as using the spot healing tool to fix the background, it could have been better if I had taken it from closer so that it could have looked a little clearer.

Michelle R- Butterfly

 I titled this Butterfly. It was taken in the summer of this year. I want to oak mountain state park where theres a water fall.  It was taken with my canon INC. I lightened the exposure of the green in the back and color of the wings. I think I could have taken a closer look for the wings. 

Dylan T- Camp Inspired by the Childish Gambino Album

 I call this image camp inspired by the childish gambino album. I took it at the Tennessee aquarium around the beginning of July with my iphone 11. All i did was mess with the contrast and color a very small bit. I feel like i couldve taken it and angled to the left a bit but besides that im happy with the outcome

Vincent S - Moldy Angel Dust

 I took this image a little after the beginning of the last school year using my Canon camera and a lens I modified. I didn’t have to do much to edit it as all I did was lower the color of the image and mess with its curves. I quite like how it turned out but I reckon it could be greener. 

Sophia T - Mayday

 This image was taken over the summer in a 70s inspired club in Florence, Italy. The name of the club is called “Mayday,” which is what I decided to name the image as well. It was taken on my phone, as I did not have my camera with me. I did some light editing, increasing the brightness and contrast. Personally, I think this image would have been better if it was taken on a higher quality camera such as a Cannon or Nikon.

Jade S- Orange Sunsets

The title of this image is “Orange Sunsets”. This photo was taken outside of my Friends house about two weeks ago. It was taken with an Iphone 11 Pro Max. I didn’t edit the photo at all since I though It was good the way it was. I either should have put the whole car in the picture of I could have just left it out.

 

Evan S- Compressed Seal

 I call It “Compressed Seal” Because it's very compressed. It was taken last year at the zoo It was taken with a Nikon 3000. I smoothed and sharpened it many times, and changed the colors drastically. I wish it was less compressed. I like the colors of it

Aidan P- Rain on the Grass

 This image is titled rain on the grass which is not a creative name but ittells whatit is. I took it after it rained one day with my Canon T7. I didn’t get a chance to do a lot of editing but I want to bring out some more green in it.

Helen S- Spring Flowers

I titled my image “Spring Flowers”. I took this a year or so ago on my Google Pixel 4XL. I didn’t edit this image to my knowledge unless I did when I first took it but I can’t remember. I think that if there were more flowers in the background to fill the space it might enhance the image. 

 

Wendy S- Flower

 The title of my image is Flower it was taken in the summer at the Botanicle Gardens in Birningham. It was taken with my Iphone 14 pro max and i edited it by adjustiong the brightness and the contrast. I dont know how it could be better but overall i think it was a nice photo.

Mia N- Sunset

 I took this picture in San Juan, Puerto Rico at the beginning of the summer. I took this picture on my phone. I edited this picture by covering up a road at the bottom and taking people out as well as power lines. I think this picture could have been way better if I had my camera with me.

Marcie M- Love

 I named this photo “Love” because it is a picture of my boyfriend, whom I love, and in the sky, Venus, the “planet of love” is visible. This photo was taken in Spring of 2023 in downtown Birmingham. I took it with my iPhone and slightly edited the colors to be a bit more vibrant and warmer. I also made Venus more visible, as it is faint in the original photograph. There is a bit of negative space in the sky, and I debated on adding a grain/film overlay, but it crowded the photo.
