Madeline V.- Untitled

I don’t have a name for this picture because I don’t know what to call it, but I took it at the beginning of the school year for the story illustration assignment in my neighborhood with my D3200. I edited it by adding a few layers of brightness and contrast and messing with them some. This picture could be a lot better if the trees were a little bit shaper, but I otherwise think its perfect:)

Matthew O- Bird

This photo is called “Bird’. I took it in Huntsville Alabama with a 75-300 lens. Its a bird, and it’s eating some food. I thought it was cute so I whipped out my camera and zoomed in and snapped it a couple times. It took me about ten minutes to get this shot. I edited this in Photoshop by adding a glow effect and changing the saturation and hue.  I could have tried a better exposure.

Alex D- Tree

The title of my image is close up of the tree. It was taken in my backyard on October 19, 2015 at 4:06 PM. It was taken with my Nikon D3100. I didn’t edit the image. I like how close I got to it and some part of the image focused and the other part is not focused.

Justin H- Portrait

So this photo was taken around 4pm to help get the really nice and soft lighting. Very little was done to this photo. I added a slight warming filter and bumped up the exposure a hair. This was taken with my D2x and a 50mm prime.

Grace C- Dizzy Dancer

This picture was taken at Tremaine Dance Competition in Atlanta, GA. ISO was set to 800 due to the lighting that was used, f/5.6, and a shutter speed of 1/160. To edit, I used the paint tool to make the area to the left black (it was red due to another dancer). I drained the reds and yellows, and used the healing brush to fix stray hairs and a strap. I then brightened the image slightly, and finished by sharpening it just a bit.

Zoey E.- Autumn

This is an image I took for the circles assignment. I just gathered a bunch of yellowish leaves and arranged them in a circle on the sidewalk. As for editing, I adjusted the vibrancy and the offset. I took this image between 3:00- 5:00pm on Sunday. I really like this photo, but feel like something is missing.

Zohra P- Water

This picture was taken for the water assignment, with my sony camera. I used vibrance, brightness and, exposure. I wish the water droplets were larger and, the background a little clear.

Jeremy L - On Top of the World

I took “On Top of the World” on Veteran’s Day, a couple of weeks ago. I used by d5100 and f/1.8 lens, and I originally took a picture of both my iPhone screen and the landscape, alone, behind it. I photoshopped the landscape into my iPhone screen. That’s about it, I was pretty happy with it.

Bella M- Stresses

John Michael A- Lunar Warmth

Matthew O- Cliff

Davis D- "A Southern Original"

This photo is called “A Southern Original”. I took this photo last week on top of a skyscraper in Downtown Birmingham. It was taken right after the sun went down around five o’clock. It was taken with a Canon 7D Mrk ii with a 135mm L lens. I shot this at ISO 400, f/2.2, and at 1/60 in manual mode. When I edited this I used the Brightness/Contrast Tool to bump the lighting and contrast. Overall this photo came out nicely.

Kristin S- Picnic anyone?

I took this picture with my cannon rebel xs. I took it while shooting for the leaves assignment. I upped the saturation and lowered the vibrance. And I darkened around the edges.

Crossan R- Water

I took this photo last week for the water assignment with my Nikon d60. I didn’t do much editing either than messing with the curves and bumping up the contrast a little. I like the idea of the shot, but my execution could have been better. It would be nice if the quality was better, but because there was not much lighting it was difficult to get the outcome i wanted.

Grace H- Dark Flower

My favorite image I took for this assignment is tilted “Dark Flower”. I took this photo in late October in Atlanta. For this photo I used the AV mode on my canon t3i and edited using photoshop. The photo was originally very noisy so I reduced the red in the photo to help reduce the noise. I wanted my photo to be dark so I lowered the exposure vibrance, and saturation. Then I used the overlay tool and darkened the background and lightened the flower petals. Overall this image was not that hard to take because outside it was not very bright outside so my subject wasn’t washed out.

Justin C- Leaves

I took this photo with my Nikon 3300. I edited it by lowering the vibrance and slightly raising the saturation. I burned the background a good bit in order to bring out the leaves.

Madeline V.- Glass

The title of the image is “Glass” because I couldn’t think of anything more creative. I took the picture for the water assignment on my back porch at sunset. I edited this picture by adding a neon filter, then messing with that some, the I messed with the hue/saturation some. The picture could be much better if I could get more of an outline of the glass, but otherwise, I like it.

Kate M.-Under the Willow Tree

This picture is called Under the Willow Tree because I took it of my friend while we were both in the branches of a Weeping Willow. I took this picture at the Birmingham Botanical Gardens a few weeks ago. I took this with my canon rebel t3. To edit this I added more contrast and adjusted the color of the leaves to make them more green and vibrant. This picture could be better if there wasn’t so much out of focus leaves right in front of the lens.

Ben D- Mountain View

The title of this photo is “Mountain View.” I took this a few weeks ago at an overlook off of some random road. I added some saturation and fade, as well as some shadows adjustments.

Chris C - Gargoyle

I’m going to call this photo ‘Gargoyle’ because it remind me of the Hunchback of Notre Dame. This i a composite i made using photo i took for the architecture assignment and some older photos i had taken. I blended the photos and then adjusted some coloration and added a slight matte effect. I think this could be better if I used some more texture photos in the composite.

Amber S- Freeze

The title of this image is Freeze. I took this picture in the courtyard last year. I took the picture with my digital camera. I added some saturation to this picture and also decreased the green color in the grass. I colored her hair slightly to make it more brown and whitened her shirt to make it brighter. I think it could be better at a different angle and it could have included more of her hair and body.

Sabrina S- Untitled

I didn’t know what to call this picture so I just left it as untitled. I took this last year in my front yard, darkened the edges and made my model almost white with a little saturation in bed hair and in the leafs.

Sara W- Downtown Atlanta

I took this picture in downtown Atlanta for the high and low key assignment. I took the exposure and contrast up and played with with levels. I really like this picture and I think it turned out well.

Tizoc J- Liquid Dog

I took this photo of my dog using my Canon Rebel T5, i personal like this shot because getting a picture of my dog is hard because she doesn’t sit still for a long time. I edited this photo using the liquify tool, and i also darkened the edges a tad. I named it liquid dog because why not.

Jakelyn R - Innocent and So Alone

I titled this image “Innocent and So Alone” due to the fact that she’s in the middle or nowhere and yea/. But i took this image 2 days ago after school at moss rock. I took this with my Canon Eos 60D. I edited this image by Turning down the brightness and vibrance and added and orangey photo filter. i believe this picture would have been better if there was no pathway behind her.

Zohra P- Fruits

I took this in Mr. Rigsby’s studio, the lighting was really dark and I love the way it looks, I worked on the contrast a lot and vibrance for the color to really pop out. The camera was on a tripod so, that really helped me to take a clear picture.

Matthew O - Blood Water

The title of this photo is “blood water”.  I took it of my friend in the preserve and edited the water to be red like blood.  I could have taken it with the subject more in focus, because he is slightly blurry.

Justin C- Mood

I call this image “Mood.” I used my Nikon D3300 to take the picture. I edited the image by lowering the vibrance and saturation. I also raised the contrast just a little bit and messed with some of the curves and levels.

Logan M- Huracán

I originally titled this shot BOOTY, but decided that Mr. Rigby might not like that. I took this at Cars and Coffee last year. I had a fairly open aperture of about 3.6f and a shutter speed around 1/400. I did almost nothing to edit this except crop in a little.

Nick A - Heritage

This photo is called, “Heritage.” It is called this because this is a legendary car which holds a lot of heritage in Ferrari. This photo was taken with a Canon EOS 7D a few weeks at Logan’s on 280. I edited it by applying gradients and lighting adjustments to bring out color shadows. The lighting was very harsh but which made me do more lighting adjustments then normal. If i could shoot this photo again, I would shoot a little higher up so I could get some ground underneath the ground in the shot.

Bella M- Sloss Portrait

This picture was taken with a Cannon t3i a month or so ago at Sloss furnace. When editing this picture I bumped up the offset, warmed it up a bit. and sharpened it. This could be much better if the angle was different.

Sabrina S- Selina

This is just a portrait of my sister, I didn’t do anything to it, but it could be better if it wasn’t just ever so slightly grainy.

Madeline V.- Page Turner

This picture is titled “Page Turner” and I took it for the high key low key assignment and I didn’t really do much to edit it except for making it black and white and adjusting the colors then making some of the pages more noticeable and sharpening it. I wish that the book itself was in focus a little bit more, but the picture was harder to take then you would think because It was hard to get the pages what I wanted them to do. I really love this picture though!

Amber S- Leaves

I took this picture outside of my back porch about a year ago. I used my digital camera to take this image. I used iPhoto to edit this image last year. I increased the definition and sharpness to focus on the detail of the flower more. I also made the greens brighter. I added a black and white filter because I thought it made the image simpler. I think if I had not increased the sharpness as much, it would have been a slightly better image.

Kristin S- Peace, Leaves and Happiness

The title of this is Peace, Leaves, and Happiness. I shot this yesterday with my cannon rebel xs.
To edit it I messed with the brightness and contrast, lowered the vibrance, and upped the saturation and then made it black and white, and colored in the leaf.

Justin H- Cave

This photo has been taken for the current “Leaf, Archetecture, Mood” assignment. Very little has been done to edit this photo besides minor saturation and a diffuse glow filter. The photo was taken around 4pm in the after noon with a 50mm lens.

Crossan R- Pop

My photo is titled “Pop”, because it’s a bubble popping. I took this a while back for the story illustration with my Nikon d60. I edited it by adding one of the filters that I really like because it makes everything appear as if it’s outlined by a glow, but I turned the opacity down some so that some of the original shot comes through. I overall like the vibe of this photo and think it turned out pretty well.

Sara W- Low Key Atlanta

I took this picture in downtown Atlanta for the high and low key assignment. Editing wise I cropped and changed the levels. I think it turned out well.

Tuesday, November 3, 2015

Hannah S- Syd

This picture is titled Syd, because that is the name of my model. I took this in Rigby’s studio last week. Editing wise I am still not completely done with it, but so dar I am happy with how it is looking. I added a curve, levels, and 2 brightness/contrast layers, which helped to make her skin look smoother. Overall I’m pleased with this picture so far.

Zoey E.- Hidden

This is a picture of my friend with a pillow in front of her face. As for editing, I added a black and whit filter, adjusted the offset, and manipulated the shadows and highlights. I would be better if the image was sharper though.

Ben D- Golden Dreams

The title of this photo is “Golden Dreams.” I took this photo outside of a coal mine in Hueytown. Used a Canon T5i and a 50mm f/1.8 to get the sharp foreground and soft background. I made the photo warmer and slightly sharper to put more emphasis on the wheat.

Jeremy L- Paint Me Like One Of Your French Cats

I titled this “Paint me like one of your French cats”, because it’s a reference and why not? I took it a few months ago with a 50mm f/1.8, and it’s just a bad picture, but I still laugh at this moron’s expression and posture. It’s not edited, just str8 out the camera. It could be better if it wasn’t a picture of a cat.

Kate M.-Untitled

I couldn’t really think of a name I liked for this picture so feel free to comment ideas. I took this in the studio for the low key assignment. I took this with my canon rebel t3. To edit it I just selected my model and copied her into three different layers, then I used motion blur on each layer more than the last. Then I messed with brightness and levels. I think it could be better if the line between the front and middle layer wasn’t so harsh.

Nick A - Stallion

This photo is called,”Stallion.” It was taken with a Canon EOS 7D a few weeks ago at a motor show in the summit. I did not edit it much. I cropped in on it a little and did a few color corrections to the reds and yellows. If I shot this photo again I would probably work around the blur that funs through the steering wheel.

Davis D- "Pony Car"

This is a picture of my personal car that I took a few days ago. I took this in front of Ross Bridge in the gravel parking lot. The title of this is “Pony Car”. This is was taken with a Canon 7D Mark ii at 1/150, f/2.2, at 160 ISO. I used my 135mm prime f/2 lens to take this picture as well. I also played around with the shadows and highlight tool to give it the mood that is represented.

Amber S- Dark

I took this picture on my back porch last week. I used my digital camera to take this photo. I added more saturation and also increased the vibrance. I did not edit the image much though. I think the picture could be better if it was clearer and more focused on the light.

Justin C- Shoes

This picture is of some pretty obvious old shoes. I took the image with my Nikon D3300. I edited the image by making it a little darker and lowering the vibrance.

Krintin S- Are you ready for an adventure?

The reason I named this Are you ready for an adventure is because we were taking pictures for the story illustration and we took the picture by asking if we could use the bak of a random persons truck. To edit this I really just cropped in and owed the brightness and used the contrast.

Evan F - Ink

A lot of post work was put into this photo. This was taken of the studio and it was just a series of images taken of one wine glass as the food coloring continued to spread in the water. I brought the three images together and blended the background. I also removed the glare that was made on the glass from the studio lights. I played with the lighting and colors a little bit and ended up brighting the image and then increasing the saturation a little bit to get deeper blues. I am satisfied with how this image turned out and I am honestly tired of looking at it.
