Shae M- Suffocation

The title of my image is “Suffocation”. I took this photo on October 23rd at Star Lake with my Nikon D3500. I wanted this photo to show how suffocating it can feel to live with anxiety. I edited it by raising the contrast and changing the photo to black and white. I also played with the levels to bring out the pure whites and blacks in the photos to give it a more suffocating and dark feel. I also adjusted the brightness so you could see the features in the photos, but I made sure it was not too bright. I think it could be better if some minor imperfections such as hairs and rips in the bag were fixed. I also would have liked to crop it differently. Overall, I was happy with the results of this image.

Linley W- Soul

The title of this picture is Soul. I took this picture a couple of weekends ago in my front yard. I took this picture with my Nikon D2500 camera. I edited this picture in a lot of different ways. I made the eye picture brighter. I added different flower pictures that I took in the past over the summer, and layered each of them on top of the other. I brightened up each of the flowers, added color and saturation, and added warmth to the overall picture. Then, I added the oil paint filter on top of it in order to give the picture a flowy look. I also brightened up the eye and made the green stand out a lot. I really like this picture. However, I wish there were flowers surrounding the eye.

Nora G- Sunset Building

This image was taken last year downtown. I loved the time of day and the lighting was really pretty. I don't remember what I did much with editing but I really liked this image.

Betsey S - Spinning

The tittle of this image is Spinning because when trying to capture this photo I told mia to just keep spinning. I was taken in the photo lab during our story illustration. It was taken with one of mr. rigsbys cameras. I turned down the exposure but didnt really edit it any other way. I wasnt trying to make it blurry but I dont mind how it turned out.

Allie S- Red

The title of my selected image is Red. It was taken Nov 1, 2022 at my house. It was taken with a Canon Rebel XS. I didn’t do a ton of editing to this image. I brought up the saturation and brilliance and brought down the highlights a little bit. I wouldn’t have minded getting a little bit of a different angle and maybe having the words be a little more clear.

Brandon B- Vibin'

I decided to call this photo “Vibin’” due to the subject actually vibing out.  I took this on October 21st this year during one of my night shifts at Chick Fil A. This was taken with my iPhone 13 Pro.  I edited this by taking some of the blurry shots and masking over to give a shake effect.  Finally I added a color filter to give some color to add to the vibe.  This could be better had the photo been more intentional.  But turned out alright for a quick snapshot.

Madison R - The Curious Fawn

This photo was taken over the summer in Key West with my Nikon D3400 camera. I edited it by using the Camera Raw filter and adding a sepia filter that is blended into the image. Originally I wouldn’t say I liked this photo because it was very foggy but the Camera Raw filter helped add detail and sharpen the image. Overall I really like the finished product!

Ayla S- Budding Flower

The title of this image is “Budding Flower.” It was taken in my neighbor’s yard in October. This photograph was taken with my Canon EOS Rebel T6. To edit this image, I increased the contrast, saturation, and made the image sharper. It could be better if it was cropped differently.

Maddie T- Little Brother

This image was taken with my Canon Rebel t100 and not edited, it was taken for the reflections assignment using a camera prism. It is of my younger brother.

Alex B- Pumpkin Eater

I named this “Pumpkin Eater” due to the fact we were carving pumpkins the day this was taken and the ducks were eating the guts. I thought it would be a cute name. I took this at Georgetown Park in Hoover on the 29th of October. I took the photo with my canon rebel. I used sharpening, nik collection and the raw filters and cropped it very slightly. I wish I had held the camera more steady and the photo was less shaky.

Bess H - Chains

The title of this image is “Chains” and I took it in the studio. This photo was taken about a month ago and it was for my sustained investigation. I used the Rebel T6i. I cropped in on this image and turned it black and white. I think that I used a Nik collection filter as well. I played around with the brightness, contrast, and levels. I wish I would have had more focus on the chains, they are a little blurry.

Ani W- Grainy Exit

I’ve titled this image Grainy Exit because (even though it’s not the best name out there), I made the picture grainy to seem like it’s from an old film found in an abandoned place, and overlaid an exit sign over the original image. I even added more lighting to really accentuate the shadows in the original hallway picture. Both images were taken this year at a local storage unit on October 23rd. I took the photos with my Canon EOS Rebel T-7 camera. I edited it by overlaying one image over another, then making the image black and white to make the dark and light areas really stand out. I then shifted the overlayed image horizontally and added a grainy filter to make it seem like the photo was old and deteriorating. I really like the way this image turned out, but I think this photo could have been better if it was less altered and a bit clearer.

Martha Claire D- King of the Gods

The title of this image is King of the Gods. This is a photo from my sustained investigation series 1 where I am exploring greek gods and goddesses, this photoshoot being centered on the Greek god Zeus. This was taken in September in the photo studio at school. It was taken with one of the class cameras. In order to edit this my goal was to make it look like a tabloid photo that catches Zeus in the act of cheating. I wanted to give it a classic and ageless look to the photo. I used the classic camera filter as well as increasing the saturation to make the lipstick marks pop.  One thing that does bother me in the photo is how dark the hair is on the skin, I wish i had been able to exclude that piece from the dark contrast.

Caeden H- Lone Road

This image is titled “Lone Road”. I took this picture on a weekday a few weeks ago while I was hiking on a trail. I took this photo with my Iphone 12 pro. I edited this picture in the photos app first. I just gave it some more clarity by increasing the exposure, contrast, and saturation. I then moved to photoshop and used the Nik collection filters to add more visual appeal to the image. I also did a good amount of spot correction to get other leaves and sticks that were on the trail off so that the leaf in the foreground was the main focal point.

Maddie T- Judah and the Lion

This photo is of the band “Judah and the Lion” before going on stage at their show in Birmingham. The band asked me to do all of their behind the scenes work at this show so I was able to capture moments like this before they performed. It was taken with my Canon T-100 with a  50 mm lens. It was edited in Adobe Lightroom, and it is currently displayed on my personal website and instagram (@maddieturnerphotos) and will soon be on the bands instagram page!

Paris C- Anime

This image I took was named anime because it gives me an anime type of vibe. I was yet again taken to Hoover High School in their courtyard. I made the image black and white and darkened it so the light can stand out more. But the rest was nature and she did her thing. In my opinion it does not need to be changed any more or any less.

Alex B- Trees in The Water

I named this photo “Trees in The Water” This was taken at the cahaba river on September 30th with a Canon EOS Rebel T6, I edited this image using photoshop, I used the raw camera filter and shapened the image. If the rocks were less shiny and more focused i think the image would be better.
