Katie N- Through the Lens

I call this image “Through the Lens” idk why I know its bad. I took this image in my friends jeep about 2 weeks ago. I edited it by making it black and white and lowering the contrast to make it look more soft. If I could change anything I would try to make my finger look still, but since I pressing the button it moves.

Jasmine W - Shadow Building

I took this picture when I was in Atlanta on October 10. I edited the picture by increasing the saturation and increasing the contrast. I wish the background was different because ti just doesn’t really match the vibe with the building to me.

Omar T-The Good Hit

This photo was taken at a restaurant in Homewood AL and I took this photo with my Canon Rebel T6 and I edited this photo using Nik collection. I like the way this photo came out. The angel and the duh look it has too it.

Esmeralda V- Bubble Guppy

This image was taken with my T6 Camera in a bathtub. This is a picture I took during the hands and feet assignment. The person in the image is my little sister. All I did to edit this photo was bump up the colors and I used a filter on the Nike Collection.

Zach B. - A Beautiful Past

This photo was made by random while working on some new editing techniques that I’ve been working on. I just randomly came across it and really ended up liking it. I just put a focused back ground color behind the main focus of the photo, the flower. I then used some long exposure shots of light to go in-between the back ground blue and the flower to give it a cool spirit like form to be floating around it. I thought the photo was really cool, I just don’t know what else I would do to the photo.

Stephanie T- Low Life

This was taken at Brookwood Village Mall parking lot it was taken on October 12. It was taken with a Canon Rebel Ti1. I lower the exposure and make used the burn tool to be able to blur out the people in the reflection on the car side. I think this image would have been better with it adding a little more focus onto the car and being able to blur out people on background. This day was such a great day.

Katie H - "Puppy Dog Eyes"

This picture is titled “puppy dog eyes.” This photo was taken for the high key-low key assignment. It is of my dog named Kody and was taken on a Nikon camera. I edited by converting it to black and white. I also cropped it and messed with the levels of the image. One thing I would change is make his mouth more sharp. Overall, I liked how it turned out.

Deebaj F- Untitled

This picture was taken on my Canon Rebel T6 in the Studio. I edited with the Nik collection’s black filter and then lowered the brightness and also I made the background all black to focus on lens. This picture could be better if there will little more white reflect on the lens.

Macy M - Suffocation

The title of my photo is “Suffocation.” This photo was taken on September 24th at 9:40 am. It was taken in the studio at school. It was taken with a Canon Rebel T6. I made the photo black and white, added a lot of detail, and did a lot of dodging and burning to get the final product. I was I had made the subject breathe in, in order to make it look more like they were struggling to breathe. There are also a couple little stops that I needed to get rid of. This image is actually for my AP portfolio. I’m trying to pray what it’s like to have a mental illness. I would love some feedback and constructive criticism on how I could improve the idea and look of the photos.

Morgan H - blah

My image is entitled ‘blah’. I took this picture using my Canon T6. I was messing around with the different gradient maps on photoshop and eventually ended up with this mess. For some reason, I really like it though. I also drew a Grateful Dead teddy bear onto my image and wrote ‘blah’ on it.

Austin C. - Out By The Lake

This photo was taken by the like next to the Hoover Public Library. It was taken with my Nikon D3300 with manual adjustments to ISO, aperature, and more. There are three separate parts of the image that were edited in different fashions. The lake is probably the least edited. I selected the water and changed the hues a little bit as well as brightness, contrast, and a few adjustments in curves. The trees between the lake and sky probably have the most done to them. They were originally on a spectrum of dark to light greens. I sectioned off the trees and turned them into more of a deep red color. After this I placed a ripple filter on the selected area and refined the edge and blended a little so there was a slight bleed over onto the lake and sky. The refined edge also allowed some of the color blending easier to manage with the purple and red from the lake and trees. For this image I had to clear the sky completely of what was in it. For this I sampled the most uniform color of the sky and used the paintbrush and stamp tool to remove multiple poles, power lines, and tree limbs from the area. I then placed a pattern from another image that makes up the rainbow drip effect. I used the clone tool to spread that pattern across the sky as well as get rid of as many hard edges that I could see. I then added a noise filter across the layer and tried to blend the edges into the trees as well as I could while still keeping them separate. I then made the sky a more cool tone and brought out the blue and green tones of the layer more. This was done to help it fit with the water more. At this point I was happy with the photo and just made slight adjustments to curves and such with the image as a whole as well as doges and burned different parts to accentuate different parts and details.

Olivia N-In the Night

The photo is called In the Night and was taken in Birmingham, AL and was taken with a Pentax K100D. I cropped the picture then, edited the photo in Photoshop using the Nik Collection filter. I darkened the background and parts of the flower’s base. I also increased the saturation and contrast in order to show more details of it while also add more light in some areas. It could be better if the image was taken at a different angle or distance.

Anna Claire H - Bham Sunset

I took this photo of my boyfriend a few weeks ago during sunset in downtown Birmingham. I took this photo with my iPhone this time. I edited it by adjusted the color of the sunset and trying to brighten him up a little bit. I like the overall look with the glasses. I wish the sunset could have been more vibrant.

Alyssa C- "Light Down Under"

The title of this image is “Light Down Under.” This was taken in the Ozark’s of Blanchard Springs Caverns in Arkansas in October. I took this photo with my Canon Rebel SL2. To edited this image I Increased the brilliance to make the light really pop behind the Calcite formation. Then I decreased the exposure, shadows, and highlights to bring out the beautiful color of the fluorescent rock. I love the texture on the rock itself and that was really what I was trying to accomplish bringing out, along with the gorgeous glow. I am truly in love with this image and am really proud of it.

Hannah R - Pink

I took this photo over the summer while I was in Homewood with some friends. I took it with my Nikon d3500. I edited it by putting a filter over it to make it look pink for fun. I adjusted the levels to make it a little darker. I also drew a white outline of the man on the sign. I think it could have been better, but I’m happy with it.

David J- Overgrown

I titled this image Overgrown because it looks like black vines are taking over my shoe. I took it a couple weeks ago in my car. I edited it by making it all black, adding a grass-like brush to the bottom, and adding black vines. I like it, but I could make it better with more realistic vines.

Annalisa P- Smoke

The name of my image is “smoke”. I took this photo with my Canon t6 and edited the image using Photoshop. I burned an incense at my house and hung up a black t-shirt behind the stream of smoke so you can actually see it. Then I used photoshop to darken the image so you can’t see the wrinkles and fabric of the shirt, and dodged the stream of smoke to add sharpness and lighten the image. This will be part of my spiritual wellness collection due to the fact that incense can help promote mental wellbeing.

Emily R- Untitled

I don’t have a title for this picture, but it was taken about a week ago in one of my favorite spots to shoot and I took it with my Cannon t6. I edited the colors and levels. I like this picture, but her face was a little dark. Overall, I am happy with the way this turned out.

Jake D- Hayden

This picture is called Hayden simply because the subject is my friend Hayden. This was for the high and low key project. And admittedly, these are some of my favorite photos I have taken in a while. This photo is simple and yet kind of complex at the same time(at least I think so). I edited it in photos and in Photoshop. I used a Pentax K200 to take all my pictures. I also feel that the equal light and dark sections of this photo help make it better as well.

Anna S- The Teenage Mind

I took this picture with my camera in my car. I edited it by adjusting the levels and exposure. I also enhanced some color and hues. I went in with the dodge tool and burn tool to highlight certain spots on her face to have the light bounce off her more. I also lightened the glare spots in the window. I thought they added depth to the picture. Finally, I put a VSCO filter on it. I am really happy with what I captured in this photo. I feel like the mood is definitely there.
