Lupita G - Good Vibes

I took this picture over the summer during sunset. I was playing around with the invert in pictures and I came up with this. I feel like it would be better if it was more in the middle

DrewF- Jag F Type

This picture was taken at work as well as a series of similar images. This photo was edited by creating a design in illustrator then forming it to the car which then had a filter placed over it. This photo could be better if Sir Rigs tweaked it to perfection.

Justin C- V//

This photo is a reedited version of one that I did a long time ago. I used invert to create a symbol and used another inverted box around it to create contrast. I darkened the box in order to see the details behind it because it was way to bright and looked more like a solid white square.

Kate M- At Railroad Park

I took this picture at railroad park a week ago. I took it with my canon rebel t3. To edit it, I tried to bring out the colors. I also edited out some people near their cars. I really like the quality of this picture. I think it looks very serene. If i could change it I would try to make the water a little more blue.

Ryan F- Hands on a Ledge

The title of this image is “Hands on a Ledge.” It was taken on September 20th, 2016 at the Hoover Galleria in the parking deck. It was taken with a Kodak Z990. I edited by using a B&W HDR filter in the Nik Collection. It could be better if the focus was better on the hand and if it was sharper.

Chloe J- California

I named this photo California because I took it over the summer in Laguna Beach California. I took it with my Canon xsi. All I did to edit it was add some contrast. I wish this photo was clearer but overall I really like it.

Trey D- Rough Surface

The title of the image is “Rough Surface”. I took this Thursday at school near the art room. I took this with a Pentax K100D. I used the brush tool to darken the edges. I then raised the saturation, vibrance, and the brightness.

Rere H- Got the Blues

The tittle of my image is called got the blues. It was taken a couple of months ago at Veterans Park. It was taken with a Nikon D3000. It chould have been better if the pictures didn’t have as much noise.

Brody G- 4 Wheel Parts

The title of this image is 4 Wheel parts because that is the company that this Jeep was with. I took this photo at the Sparks of Insanity car show. I took this with my Sony a6000 and to edit it I played with the shadows and highlights and added a nik filter. I think that this photo could be better if the cone was not there but oh well, I still really enjoy the photo.

Dayne M- Sun Okay

This image, “Sun Okay”, was taken a few weeks ago by Tip Top with my Nikon D5500. I edited this image by bumping up the vibrance and hue and saturation layers. It could be better if the hand was solid black and the sun was not so bright. Overall, I’m happy with the way it turned out.

Ashley W- Bath

This picture was taken in my bathtub about two weeks ago with a Canon Rebel T3. I edited this photo a lot and I really like the way it turned out. I used the auto color option to take out some of the yellows and clone stamped the bathtub rim out to make the focus more on Kate. I’d never taken this type of photo before and I think it turned out pretty well. If I were to change anything I might put more things in the water surrounding her.

Lana M - Reading

I took this picture in Nyala, Sudan this summer with a Cannon SL1. It is a picture of my dad reading a newspaper that he made me pick up off the ground. I used the curves and levels adjustment layers to add contrast. I also brought out the shadows and highlights to make the contrast more dramatic. I used a lens blur filter to blur the background so that people’s eyes would be drawn to the subject. I really like this picture and if I could go back and take it again I would probably want some better lighting.

Bella M- I Got the Blues

This photo was taken in the studio in the photography room with a Pentax a week or two ago. The way I edited this was messing with the hue and saturation and changing the color levels and contrast. This could be better if different features were also highlighted.

Jakie R - Milk Water

I took this image for a different assignment and decided to randomly play with the image and decided to add random shapes and inverted them. To the actual image I brightened up the image and removed unnecessary objects.

Grace H- Sparks

This photo was taken for a light assignment that I am doing. I took this photo outside while it was dark. I used manual mode to take this photo. In photoshop I added several photos of the sparks and adjusted the vibrance. I wanted my photo to have a blue tint because I thought it would compliment the fire. The only thing i dislike about this photo is how noisy it is.

Chloe J- Film

I named this picture “Film” because of the look of this picture reminds me of something you’d see come from a film camera. I took this in September at my friends apartment downtown. I took this with my canon psi. I edited it by adding a nik collection filter to it and editing the brightness and contrast. I think it could better if I would have spent more time editing it.

Grace H- "Golden Gate".

This image was taken for once of my photos for my texture assignment. It was taken while the sun was rising in my neighborhood. The sun was rising behind the fence and the light was seeping through the fence. I took this using manual mode and edited this in photoshop. In photoshop I straightened and cropped the image a bit. I added several warm filters and blurred the background. I also added noise and contrast to the fence.

Lupita G - Crushed

I took this is in my room with my Canon 80D. I edited this by added a little bit of scratches and making it black and white. I feel like this could be better if it didn’t have so much noise. I could have probably done that by using more light when I took the picture.

Ryan F- Chain Grip

The title is “Chain Grip”. I took it on September 20th at the Hoover Galleria. It was taken with Kodak Z990. I edited it using an HDR B&W filter and erasing the filter off of the chain. It could be better if the chain was more of a consistent gold color.

Isaac N- Festive Fair

I took this picture at the fair of the carousel, and then I merged a silhouette of me onto the from of it to make it look like I was there, I really like this because its really fun and happy and bright. I love it so much and would love a print!

Lana M- Botanical Gardens Portrait

I took this picture with a Cannon SL1 at the Birmingham Botanical Gardens during summer. I did a lot of color editing on this one, there were a lot of green tones so I went in and edited them using the selective color layer. I also slightly edited the other colors, by increasing/decreasing the saturation. Overall I really like this picture, I think it is very simple but I like the composition of it.

Dayne M- Float Away

I took this picture a few weeks ago in my front yard. I took this picture with a Nikon D5500 and I edited it by bumping up the saturation and adding a Nik Filter. It could be better if the clouds on the right side of the picture were not so dark, but other than that I wouldn’t change anything. Overall, I enjoy the bright colors in the picture.

Grant S- The Drive

This picture is titled The Drive. I took it with my camera on the way home from CVS. I edited it by messing with the saturation and lighting of the photo. It could be better if the photo was more focused.

Kate M- Eye Fish

I made this picture by combining two images. I took a picture at an aquarium about a year ago and I took a picture of my eyes a couple of weeks ago. I put the aquarium picture in a layer above the eye pic and set it to darken. I decided to edit out a coulee of other people but i left my friend in the picture. I wish there wasn’t such stark line between the green color and blue on the left side of the picture, but I couldn’t figure out how to do that without bringing too much of my nose into the picture.

Grace C- Heal

This image was taken in an abandoned building downtown near Avondale. I took it with my 50mm 1.8 and I am in love with how this series turned out. I would have changed the time of day it was taken but that’s all.
“To change the world
we must
heal our women,
because it is the women who teach us
how to love.
And if a man can learn to love,
the way a woman
loves a child
then that man will
see the world
in a different light.

The world will never be the same.”

DrewF- Wrap

This photo was taken at work around a month ago when my last blog post was taken. I edited this picture by creating designs in illustrator then overlapping them onto the car in photoshop. This picture could be better if i changed the car color or made a unique wrap for it.

Ashley W- Daydream

I really love the angle and hues in this picture. The model looks very ethereal and dreamy. I really enjoyed doing this shoot. I took this with a crappy Nikon d3200 at blue park elementary school. Idk what I’d change because I really like the memory attached to this photo and I think it turned out pretty good for the circumstances.

Jordan H- Hands

The title of my selected image is hands. I took this image for the hands and feet assignment. This photo was taken two weeks ago at Ross Bridge. I took this with my Canon 5d mark iii and my 1.4 50mm lens. I think the image could be better if the hand was a little bit more in focus, but overall I am pretty pleased with how it turned.

Chris C- Flakka

I titled this photo Flakka because we were talking about Flakka in class while I was editing this. I took this picture in my car over Columbus Day weekend while friend was hanging out the window ( we were parked). I edited the highlights and shadows and then matted the color of his skin.

Hunter F- Generations

I took this photo during my hands and feet project. I used green screen and lowered the saturation on the photo to make it more artistic. I think it would be much better with more variety of pictures to use. Otherwise, it is an excellent photo.

Brody G- BMX

This image is titled BMX. I took this downtown behind Faith skate on October 2nd. I used my sony a6000 to take the photo and to edit it I played around with the shadows and highlights and made it black and white:):):)

Rere H- Release It

My image is called release. It was taken at Kelly Ingram Park a couple of weeks ago. It was taken with a Nikon D3000. I edited it by adding a sketch filter , Darkening the image , I added an exclusion layer to change the color of the sky. It could have been better if i took the picture from a different angle.

Kate M- Composite

I took this picture a couple summers ago. There are actually two pictures in the image, one was taken at the beach and one was in a field. To edit this image I just put the picture of the waves over the background image and set it to overlay. I also made this picture black and white. If I could change something about this picture I would improve the quality and develop the edit a little more.

Justin C- Eagle

I took the original image of this at lookout mountain. I edited brightness and contrast, curves and vibrance only slightly. I edited the background into multiple sections of colors then added a radial blur to it, to focus on the eagle.

Chloe J-Isaac

The picture is named Isaac, Because I took it of my good friend Isaac. I took it at moss rock September 10th around 7:00. I took it with my Canon XSI and I edited it by changing the colors of the trees and adding contrast. It would probably be better if I cropped the bottom a little bit but overall I really like this image.

Monday, October 3, 2016

Jordan H- Scout

The title of my selected image is Scout. This was taken over the summer at a lookout place in Mountain Brook. I took this with my Canon 5d mark iii, and I used Lightroom to edit it. I brightened it, increased saturation and exposure, and did a few facial adjustments. I think the image could be better if I cropped in from the top a bit more, but overall I like the image.

Grace C- Untitled

This photo will remain untitled. To edit, I bumped up the contrast and drained the reds. I also removed power lines. It was taken with my 50mm 1.8 on a roof in b’ham. I wouldn’t change a thing.
