Jahred T - Special?

This picture is named Special. I took it with a camera that I do not remember the name of. It was taken for the leaves project and I wished I could have gotten closer to it to take the picture but it was high up in a tree so I couldn’t. The reason it’s named Special is because it was the only colorful thing around there since the others had already fell

Macy M - Pretty Leaves

The title of this image is “Pretty Leaves”. I took this on November 4th at 5:30 pm. This is a tree in my neighbors yard. I took it with my Nikon D3400. For editing, I brightened the image, added saturation, added vibrance, added definition, and applied a Nik Collection color filter. I wish more leaves were in focus, and there is too much green.

Zach B. - Black Leaves

I took this photo while at my grandmothers house for the sunset, not initially for this assignment. I thought the sunset did a great job highlighting the leaves themselves from the tree. I used a brush to write leaves and create the stars in the sky. I think the only thing I would do differently is to have the leaves as clear and sharp as possible to have more focus on them.

Danielle M - We Are The Dead

This photo is titled “We Are The Dead”. I took the picture with one of Rigsby’s cameras. It is based off of Julia and Winston’s relationship in George Orwell’s 1984. I took the image in the studio, specifically using the wine bottles because of the part of the book where Julia and Winston are offered wine by O’Brien, which is illegal. I used the dodge and burn tool in order to edit this image and took images of certain passages of the book in order to incorporate them into the image of the wine bottles. I’d like if the image was a little bit sharper, but overall I really like this picture, even if Mr. Rigsby despises these props.

Lauren B- UNA Lion

I took this photo at the University of North Alabama when I went to visit. They have real lions in an enclosure on campus, which is pretty cool. I took this with my Canon Rebel Ti6, just as the male lion was yawning. I edited this photo by cropping in on just the lion and increasing the vibrance and contrast. I also lightened the background and made his fur slightly darker. I think this could be better if it was taken at a better angle or the background was better.

Jasmine W - Dog

This image is called, “Dog”. I took this in my kitchen on January 2nd. It was taken with my iPhone 6s Plus. I edited by sharpening my dog, adding more saturation and making it more of an orange hue. I blurred the background and made the shadows more prominent. I really like this picture because my dog never sits still and this is essentially the best picture I have of him.

Esther K- White Chair

I named this picture “White Chair” because it is a white chair. This picture was taken October 30,2018 at 9:02 AM on the Hoover High School Campus. I really like picture and the way I edited it. I made the outside corners and edges more dark that way it builds more concentration on the object. Then after I completed that I made the chair look more drawn and look like its off a comic book. This would be better if I cleaned it up little bit.

Charis H-Ballet Shoes

Landon H- Abstract Field

This photo is called “ Abstract Field” I took it on October 28, 2018 at Old Baker Farms with my Canon SL1. The only reason this photo looks like this is because the original photo didn’t have a clear subject and it was super cluttered. So, I made one. I did all the color corrections in Lightroom and then I exported it to photoshop. I spent a lot of time using the pen tool to get the shape right. Then the rest of it was just blending options on the layer itself. I Really like this photo but the one thing I would change it that I would actually have a subject you could clearly tell.

Mia R - Bothersome

I took this last year when it snowed, walking to the fresh air farm. I took it with my canon camera. I edited it with Nik Collection to make it look vintage. It could be better if the car lights weren’t so bright maybe.

Michelle A- Chairs

This is an example of what I am doing for my second assignment 9 weeks. I chose chairs because I thought of some creative ways of taking images of chairs and editing them. I took this picture with my Canon Rebel T21. This was at the Moss Rock cafe or whatever it’s named, I can’t remember. I just changed the colors to make it red and blue, before it was green and yellow.

Arzoo Q- Orange Door

This picture called Orange door. I took in downtown I took it with my canon. I edited by make it a brighter I made the door it’s self come out more. I liked how the door looks like a painting I think it could be better if I had cropped it out more and cleaned bit around it.

Magali Valdez - The girl with the Polka Dot Umbrella

The Girl with the Polkadot Umbrella is a picture that I took of my niece in Michigan. She is such an adorable, sweet child and I always have so much fun when I visit her. For this picture I really wanted to capture the innocent aspect of being a kid. For this image I used a green filter to give it a vintage tone while also making the red umbrella more vibrant. I also added a grain filter so add on to the old effect and it all came together to give a reminiscent feeling.

Dalton C. - Door

The title of this image is “Door”. I don’t remember when I took it but I know that I took it in Bessemer at the old train station. I took it with my Canon EOS Rebel. I edited it by turning down the brightness a little and then turning down the saturation. I think it could’ve been better if I took a straight shot on it, but there was stuff that I couldn’t move in front of it.

Olivia N- Autumn

The image is called Autumn and was taken in the courtyard on October 23,2018. The picture was taken with a Canon EOS Rebel T6. I edited the picture using a Nik Collection filter and adjusting the settings there and using Photoshop to fix certain areas. I edited the contrast and brightness to add more depth and added a vignette to have certain areas darker. The image could be better if the camera’s focus of the background was not as blurred and if the background was not as bright.

Alicia U- Brown Building

This image is called “brown building,”I took this image on a saturday afternoon when I went downtown with a friend. I took this image with my Canon Camera TSL1. I edited this image by playing around with the contrast and sharpening the image. I also made the sky more clear instead of having serval colors. I also cropped the image more to focus more into the building. I had the idea to bring out more of the warmth color it has on the building. I like the details the building has to it and how old it might be because you can serval colors it has to it. To make the picture better I would do some darkening around to make it focus on the middle or make it pop out more.

Raven H ~ Untitled

I took this picture in downtown Birmingham in August. My friends and I drove around finding places to take pictures when we found a tall parking lot with a great view. My friend Chase is the subject of the image. I did very little editing other than adding filters.

Braxton S- Reflect

The title of this image is Reflect. I took the picture in Bessemer at the old train station just before sunset. I took it with my Canon 50D. I edited it by lowering the exposure, brightness, contrast, and shadows. I think it could be better if I was able to somehow capture more reflections.

Jacob T- Painted Bugs

I called this picture painted bugs because they two cars can be called bugs and it’s one of the pictures I’ve experimented with doing a painted style. This was taken last year during spring break in Andalusia Alabama. I took the picture with my Canon Rebel T6. I edited it to try and make it look like it was a painting. I think it could be better if I Could have cropped it a little wider. There was another old car to the right that I wanted to get out of the frame. I also think that the painting style could be better.

Mollie E- "Tuscaloosa Sun"

The title of this image is “Tuscaloosa Sun” because it was taken in Tuscaloosa at sunset. I took this image with my Nikon d3400 camera. I edited this picture by brightening it up a little bit and messing with the levels and curves tools. As well, I added a Bi-color filter using the Nik collection Color Efex Pro tool in Photoshop. I also rotated the image because I had taken it upside down so this way it looks natural. I think the image could have been better if more of the grass was in focus.

Omar S. - Leaves

I titled this image leaves because thats what they are. I took this image at the heardmont park a few weeks ago. The leaves were originally until I used the NIK collection to change the color to an orange-yellow mixture. This image could be better if the leaves in the top left corner weren’t faded by the sunlight coming through the leaves.

Hannah J- Up and Up Again

This picture is called Up and Up Again. It was taken in San Francisco over the summer. I took it with my Canon PowerShot and I edited it by adding a filter and messing with the colors. It would be better if the colors were less splotchy.

Alexa S- Trash Taxi

The title of this image is Trash Taxi. It was taken in Old Town Helena on my Canon SL1. I edited it in Photoshop. I cropped and rotated it and I also used the dodge tool and the burn tool to brighten the main subject and darken the area around it. It could be better if there wasn’t a glare on the dumpster.

Olivia H- Untitled

I took this picture downtown Birmingham over the weekend. I took this with my Canon T-6. To edit this photo I made it black and white. I also sharpened, brightened it. I burned some of the edges to make them more noticeable. I wish I could make this picture more drastic and more defined. I really like this photo though because of the edges and the shadows.

Heath M- Between The Trees

This picture is titled “Between The Trees”. I took it with my Canon EOS 70D when the XC went to Wyoming. I edited this picture by burning and dodging, adjusting many of the tool options, and contrasting it a bit. At the time I can not think of anything to possibly make this picture better. Overall, I had a great time taking and editing this picture.

Carson R - Foxier

This image is entitled “Foxier”. This was taken at the Birmingham Zoo in May 2018 with my Nikon d3400. I edited this image by increasing the contrast, brightening the eyes with the dodge tool, and then I used a filter from Nik collection to make it warmer. I think this image could be better if the tail did not have that weird yellow tint. Overall, I really like this picture.

Austin C. - "Faces"

The titles of this image is “Faces”. It was mostly taken in the studio in the photography room over a couple days. The pictures were taken with the Canon t6. I took a bunch of different portatraits of different people and layered them on to each other. I blended them together to make it somewhat flush and messed around with brightness, contrast, blending modes, opacity, and many other things that when combined, came out to be this image. I think it could be better if the colors were a little bit different and some focus issues. It was a joy to make and I love the idea of layering pictures on top of each other. Overall it was a fun project.

Annalisa P- Rose Bud

The name of my image is called Rose Bud. I took this picture in a bush of roses at the entrance of my neighborhood. It was taken with my canon T6 and edited using photoshop. I brought out the debth and sharpened the image because at first it was blurry. I think it could have been better if I did not have to sharpen it, if it waste blurry in the first place.

Alex H- Untitled

This photo was taken almost two years ago, I honestly don’t remember anything about it but I really like it and I’ve never done anything with it. I edited it by messing with the color balance and making it bluer and from there I used Analog Fx filters and used classic camera one and turned down the strength and the grain to keep it clear. I think it could be better if you could more distinctly see the star and the shadow.

Emily R- ESNY

The title of this image is ESNY, because that is the title of the song that this image portrays. This was taken around September at Alexa’s house. It was taken with a Cannon. I added grain, brightened it, and cleaned it up a little. The background could be a little more focused. Overall, I like this image.

Macy M - Untitled Moon

There is no title for this image. The moon was taken in my backyard while the building was taken in Gatlinburg during last New Years. This was taken with my Nikon D3400. I merged the two photos and added a yellow tint. I wish they had merged a little better and were sharper.

Jasmine W - Railroad Park Ducks

This picture was taken at Railroad Park on October 6, 2018. It was taken with a Canon Powershot SX530 HS. I edited it by turning up the brightness and the contract. Sharpened the ducks so they could stand out more against the water. I’m not quite sure how it could be better, but I am sure there is some way that it could be.

Heath M- Machu Picchu

This picture is called “Machu Picchu”. I took this picture with my Canon EOS 70D while in Peru over the summer. It was taken at around 6:00 p.m. I edited this picture by taking a panorama of the site to get the grander picture of it all. I also adjusted the temperature a bit and burned some areas. I like this picture because it was an amazing trip and it captures how amazing this historical site truly is. I believe that it could have been better if I had brought my tripod to stabilize it more but other than that I am very pleased with how this picture turned out.

Arzoo Q- Night

This picture is from the movie project that we were suppose to do and it is called night. The only thing that I did was I brightened the picture so that the jacket so brighten a little bit more. I could have made the picture better by making the stop sign and the car in the background disappear.

Magali V. - My Mia

This picture is named “My Mia” and it is a picture of my dog on our porch. I had morning lighting which made the picture have some line shadows. I took this with my iPhone since it is really hard for dogs to stay still unless there is a piece of toast in front of the camera. In Photoshop, I edit this picture by adding a cool tone filter so that Mia’s fur had more detail in the picture. In addition to the filter, I also toned down the exposure and toned up the contrast of shadows. I tried to keep the subject (dog) to brighten ought so that she would be the focus of the image. This picture would be better if I had taken it with my camera and thus be able to better eat it, but Mia still looks adorable.

Dalton C. - Point

The title of this image is Point. It was taken in Bessemer near the railroad station. It was taken with my Canon Rebel Ti1. I edited it by turning up the contrast and adjusting saturation. I think it could be better if I took it at a different angle that kept the painting level with the horizon.

Mollie E- "Off The Rails"

This image is entitled “Off the Rails” because it is an image of railroad tracks. I don’t know exactly where this image was taken but it was taken in August of 2018. I used the color Efex pro filter in Photoshop as well as messed with the levels and curves to edit this image. I also got rid of a car and some signs that were in the background. I think this image could have been better if it was less saturated.

Olivia N- Bloom

The image is called Bloom and was taken in Hoover,Al on October 9,2018.The photo was taken with my phone and was edited in Photoshop.I edited the photo by adding a filter and adjusting the brightness and shadows in multiple places.I think the image could be better if it was taken in a different angle.

Landon Hammett - Boat by the Pond

The title of this image is “Boat by the Pond”. It’s self explanatory why I give it that title. I took this photo with my Canon SL1. I didn’t actually do much editing to it. Other than mess with the contrast and vibrance to really make the sunset pop. I took this over the summer while at a church camp. The sunset went from this pink into a deep red and blue. By far the prettiest sunset I have ever seen. The only thing I wish I could change about this photo is having the boat and foreground more visible and not as dark.

Austin C. - Lighthead

This was taken on October 9/10th in the studio in the photography room. It was taken with Mr. Rigsby’s Canon T6. I made the overall brightness a little lower and brightened up the different cylinders individually. I think it could be better if it wasn’t as grainy as it is. I also could of gotten. Little more detail.

Braxton S- Brickhouse

The title of my image is “Brickhouse” It was taken at my friend Dalton’s house at dusk. It was taken with my Canon 50D. I edited it by just playing with the levels until I found this. It could be better if the sky was brighter I think.

Olivia H. - Painted Face

I took this picture in my house for the site image assignment. She is standing in font of a door to brighten her. To edit I darkened the background to make make it black. I made image black and white then used the brush tool to at the paint effect on her face. I sharpened the image and tried to bring out the detail in her face the the brush. I took this picture with my cannon T-6. I really like this picture and I wish It could be less blurry.

Esther K- Leaves

The title of this selected image is “LEAVES.” This was taken this week and it was taken by some bushes and other leaves. It was taken with my iPhone. I used the Nik Collection to edit this picture and make it more contrasted and have more color and depth. It could be better if I got a better angle of the subject but other than that I think this picture is really good!!!

Michelle A- Night In Town

This picture was taken in Alabaster beside the railroads. There was like a small shopping outlet beside it. This was taken like late summer. And I used my Canon Rebel T6 camera and have it focused on the girl so the background could be blurry and sets a tone or type of mood.

Lauren B- South Summer Home

The title of this Image is Southern Summer Home. I actually took this on the campus of the University of South Alabama when I went at the beginning of September and I took it with my Canon rebel Ti 6. I edited this by adding a Nik collection filter to it, cleaning up a lot of rough spots and brightening it a bit to try and give it that summer feeling. It could be better if the image wasn’t quite as dark or yellow in some places.

Danielle M - Dog Days

This image is titled “Dog Days”. I took this photo with my Nikon D5100 in my back yard earlier in the summer. I edited it a lot, obviously, but it was definitely an experiment for me since I did it in my free time. I don’t quite remember the process since it was a while back, but I definitely sharpened it, used the dodge and burn tool, and changed the background color of the image using a specific filter from a program I had a free trial on. This image could be better if there wasn’t a blue-ish line on his head.

Jacob T- Low Key Goat

I called this picture Low Key Goat because it was taken for the low key assignment. This picture was taken at Oak Mountain Petting Zoo. I took the picture with my Cannon Rebel T6. I edited it by taking out the background by copying the background layer and selecting large area and coloring them in with the brush tool. Then I went around the goat and softened the black background so its not such a harsh line. I think it could have been a lot better if it was taken in a closed area with controlled lighting to get rid of the harsh lighting.

Raven H ~ Sunny Daze

I took this image in my friend’s backyard garden with my camera. I did very little editing other than Nik Collection filters and adjusting the coloration. I really love this image but wish the flower next to the glass mushroom was not as wilted.

Emily R-That 70's Foot

Title of this image is, Thats 70’s Foot, name given by Dalton Crain. This was taken here at the school in the studio. This was taken with a Canon. I first cut out the feet and put it on an image that I found. I inverted the colors and blurred out the sharp edges. It could be. A little neater. Other than that, I think this composite is pretty cool.

Alexa S- White Glare

The title of this image is White Glare. I took this picture in the Preserve on my Canon SL!. To edit this image, I sharpened it, and I used the dodge tool to brighten some of the dark areas to make it a high key image. This photo could be better if it was more in focus in some spots.
