Aiden S- State Bank

This image is called State Bank. This image was taken at the beginning of October at the state bank in hoover. It was taken with my Canon T7 Rebel camera. I edited the HDR in the Nik Collection and the highlights/lighting of the image and love how it turned out. I could have made it a bit brighter but I don’t see how else I could have changed it. This image was for the Buildings assignment.

Allie S- Wall

The name of my image is Wall. It was taken in Homewood on October 15, 2021. It was taken with a Canon Rebel XS. I edited it by bringing up the brightness and saturation. I also brought down the contrast and brought up the vignette. I feel like I could have gotten a little bit of better angle.

Sydney R - Bella In the Sun

The title of this image is “Bella in the Sun”. This picture was taken last week in my room. I took this picture with my handy dandy Nikon D3500. In order to edit, I decreased the brightness, increased the contrast and vibrance. In the background, there was a door that made the shot look horrible. In order to remove it, I painted over it with colors that matched the background, then I smudged the color together in order to blend it. I love this picture, and would do nothing to change it!

Madison R - Waterfall

This photo was taken in Yellowstone over the summer. It was taken with my Nikon D3400 and I edited it by bringing down the contrast and highlights and bringing up the saturation. I think this photo could be better if the rock on the bottom was gone.

Shae M- Leaf

My image is titled Leaf. I took this photo in October on my sidewalk. I took this photo with my Nikon D3500. I edited it by raising the contrast, raising the brightness, and adding the Tonal Contrast filter from the Nik Collection. It could be better if the cropping was different and there was less glare.

Nema H- Dubai Buildings

The title of the picture is Dubai Buildings. It was taken in Dubai on December 15. 2020. It was taken on my phone. I used Photoshop’s editing tools like exposure and vibrance. Everything in the image is perfect except the lighting is a little darker. Even though the lighting is not too bright, the buildings in the picture add some nice light to it.

Bess H - Maple Tree

The name of the image is Maple Tree and that is because this is a maple tree. I took this photo last spring and I used my Canon 4000D to take it. It was taken at my house. I did some things with the levels and the brightness and contrast. I also upped the highlights and shadows. I wish that I could have gotten the black part out of the leaves, I tried to do so but it ended up looking bad, so I decided to keep it.

Katie G- Green Leaves

The title of this image is Green Leaves. I took it with my Nikon camera in my backyard on a Friday after school. I edited it in photoshop. I bumped up the contrast and made the outline of all the leaves a little dark. I also upped the vibrancy and saturation of the whole picture to bring out the green. I really like the way this picture came out, so I am not sure what I could have done to make it better.

Jerusha K- Autumn

This photo is called Autumn. I took this photo in the Moss Rock Native Prairie Reserve. I took these photos on a Sunday afternoon. I took this picture with my Canon Rebel t7i. I edited this picture with two apps. Photoshop and lightroom. Through photoshop I messed with the levels to make the photo less contrasted and lighter. I cleaned up any stains or distracting things in the picture. With Lightroom, I added a preset that made it look a little bit like a film and more sunkissed. I messed with the settings in lightroom to make this customed for this picture. I could make this photo so much better if I made it brighter and less filmy but I am pretty proud of how it turned out.

Abigail P - Flowers

The title of this picture is Flowers. I took the picture in a field behind the Riverchase Elementary School a few weeks ago in October. I took the picture with my Canon Rebel T7. I actually didn’t do much to edit this picture. I brought up the saturation in the flowers to bring out their colors. I also brightened up the picture a little bit because it was kind of dark. I cropped the picture to bring more of the focus to the model and the flowers because there was a lot of extra space in the original picture. The only thing I think I would have changed would have been to position my model at a different angle to reduce a lot of the shadows in the picture.

REGAN F- Berries

The title of this picture is Berries. I took this picture in the courtyard at school last week for the Leaves assignment. I took this photo with my canon camera and edited it using some of the NIK Collection filters, light enhancements, and color saturation enhancements. I do wish I could’ve taken this picture but in a different location just so I didn’t have the school in the background but overall I really like this picture. It gives the holiday season vibes.

Merit O- Wonder

The name of this image is Wonder. I took this image on October 11th 2021 with my Canon Rebel T5 when I took a friend down to Selma to take pictures. We were actually on our way back when I saw the graveyard down there. With all the Spanish moss in the trees and the cloudy misty feel I knew I had to take some pictures. I told my friend to start walking down this path and I would just see what we could get. When I first took this image I thought it wasn't that good and it was too exposed, but I started to edit it and slowly fell in love with how it turned out. I edited it by bringing more of the color out in the trees and sky, then using the burn tool darken the sides, made my friend darker to bring him out, then blurred the sides. So between the path and the blur your eyes would follow to the middle. Overall I’m very happy with how this image came out and I don’t think I would do much to change it.

Hannah B- Untitled

I couldn’t think of a name for this picture. I took this picture at Hoover High School on October 12, 2021. To edit this picture I used the spot healing tool in a few places. I do wish her hair was over her right shoulder instead behind it but I still like how it looks. I can’t think of anything else I would edit except for if I had her do a few different things with her right hand instead of having her it on the wall.

Hannah B- Seasons Collide

This picture is called Seasons Collide. I took this picture at Bluff Park Elementary School on April 25, 2021 I believe. To edit this picture I edited the contrast and saturation. I think if the darker clouds were across the whole sky and not just the right side it would look better. Other than that I wouldn’t change anything.

Mary Ryan M- The World was Waiting on a Lover

The title of this image is The World was Waiting on a Lover. Which is a lyric in the song Sexy Sadie which this image is based off of. This image was taken in the studio, and I adjusted the lighting to make the subject stand out from the background. I added the suits from the card deck around her head as a crown-like thing. This image could be better if it was more in focus and a little less blurry.

Makena C- Leaf

This photo is called Leaf. It was taken on November 1 in the courtyard. It was taken with a Canon EOS REBEL T3. To edit it I changed the vibrance, hue, and contrast.

Sasha C- Hot-July

Hot-July, this picture was taken in Kiev, Ukraine, it was taken in July during the day. It was taken with a Nikon D3200, the way I edited it is by bringing up the Hue/saturation and the brightness. It would look more pleasing if there was nothing in front of the building

Kaitlyn R-The Candle

The title of the Image is The Candle. There are two parts to the image, both the candle and the smoke were taken in the bathroom, around sometime in October. The pictures were taken with a canon camera. The first thing I did when editing was change the color of the candle to a brown look and then change the brightness and exposure of it. Then I had added the second image of the smoke over the image and changed the overlay so it would blend better within the candle and the background. Lastly, I used Nik Collection and added a film-like filter to the image which had added a border to it as well. I think it could have possibly been better if I had used a different dust/scratch effect of the image, also changing/editing the frame of the image where it is fully black/ removing the orange part from the side.

Linley W- Bubble Land.jpg

This picture is titled Bubble Land. I used this picture for the Circles assignment. I took this picture at Bluff Park Elementary a few weeks ago for this assignment. I took this picture with my Nixon camera. I actually photographed bubbles for this assignment. In one of the bubbles, I had gotten the people on the tornado thing in the actual bubble. I then combined that photo with more pictures of bubbles and added the water texture on top of that. I sharpened up the bubbles and made the overall picture cooler. I also added the white bubbles using the selection tool and the stroke tool. This picture could have been better if the bubbles were more in focus. Overall, I am very happy with this picture. It is my favorite so far.

Abigail P - Rainy Days

The title of this image is Rainy Days. It was taken in August while I was in Tuscaloosa at my sister’s apartment. I took the picture in the afternoon while it was raining outside using my iPhone SE. When I edited the picture, I made the picture black and white and I decreased the light to make the picture darker and to show the contrast between the lighter and darker colors. I also cropped and rotated the picture to make it even since I took the picture at somewhat of an angle. I wish I could have leveled the camera better with the building when I took the picture because it still looks a little crooked to me. Other than that I really liked how the picture turned out!

Clay K- Barn

The title of the image is Barn.  It was taken towards the beginning in school at my grandma’s farm. The image was taken with a Nikon D5000. I added many nik collection filters and then changed the hue and brited the moss on the barn. I wish the sky was different and more smooth.

Diana H - Horse

I took this photo of my dad's friend in his yard.He had over 20 horses. It was so fun seeing and meeting them.It was taken around 4 PM.I took this photo with my Iphone 12 peo max.I really love how the horse was so close to the camera I think that is what makes the photo beautiful.I edited this photo by lighten up a little bit and used the erasing tool to remove some stuff.I think it could be better if the other horse in the background isn't showing. This horse his name Moe:)

Jack J- John 14:27

This image is titled “John 14:27” because of the verse: “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”

This was taken at Lakeview Church in Pelham on November 6th with my Canon Rebel T3. I edited this image by clone stamping a house out of the background and a boat on the shore. I also edited the brightness and contrast and made the image more orange and ethereal. I really wanted this image to show the might of Christ Consciousness and it's pervading aspect in an enlightened state while still showing faith as an aspect of identity.

Emma J- Vanderbilt

The title of this image is “Vanderbilt”. It is called that because it was taken on the Vanderbilt University campus when I was taking a campus tour there. It was taken on November 5th of 2021 and it was taken with a Canon Powershot. I edited it by simply adjusting the brightness and contrast of the image using photoshop as well as adding a warmth photo filter to it. It could be a better image if the sky wasn't so over exposed and if the subjects were centered in the image.

Drew B- The Beyond

I named this image the beyond. I took this in Mr. Rigsby's studio. I took this photo with my nikon D5600. I played around with the colors a lot during the editing process.

Amira A- Fall Leaves

The title of this image is Fall Leave. I gave it this name because I took it fall time. I took this image in the garden of my home. I took this image on  October 17, 2021 at 4:00 pm. I took this image with my Nikon 3500. To edit this image I use the light tool.

Mitchell C - Abby

The name of this portrait is Abby, after the model. I was a part of a group photoshoot, and this is one of my individual portrait shots. It was around 3 in the afternoon in a wooded area in the backyard of my friend's house. I was nervous to shoot in such harsh lighting, but I found a shaded area and I think that the image turned out very nicely. Actually, looking at it right now, I don’t have anything that I would change, but any criticism is appreciated!

Sophia C- Caterpillar Leaf

The title of this image is Caterpillar Leaf. It was taken with my Nikon D3500. I took it in my front yard of the bushes. This was taken for the leaves assignment. I edited by brightening the image and increasing the vibrance and saturation. I used the dodge tool to lighten the veins of the leaves and then used the paint tool to add more color and depth to the dead parts of the leaf. I think it could have been better if I took the picture from further away and added more contrast to the image.

Regan F- Let Loose

The title of this image is Let Loose. I took this picture a couple weeks ago in my backyard with my canon camera. I took this picture originally for the site image assignment but I really like the way it turned out. I edited the picture with small factors like light enhancements, and some saturation adjustments. I wish the image was a little more steady but at the same time I like the blur in the picture because I feel like it adds to the story of the picture.

Allie S- fab-BOO-lous

The name of my image is fab-BOO-lous. It was taken in Aldridge Gardens on September 25 2021. It was taken with a Canon Rebel XS. I edited it by bringing up the saturation and the noise. I also changed the leaves to orange instead of green. I also edited out Madison’s legs. I wish the lighting was a little better.

Diana H- Ferris Wheel

I took this photo when I went to the fair. It was taken around the sunset. I took this photo with my iPhone 12 pro max. I edited this photo by darkening the lighting, also added a filter. I think it could be better if I have a camera with lenses to make it more focused.

Nema H- Burj Khalifa

The title of the image is Burj Khalifa. It was taken in Dubai on December 11, 2020. It was taken on my phone. I used Photoshop’s editing tools like brightness/contrast and levels. I liked everything about the photo and I wouldn’t change anything about it.

MaKena C - Phone Booth

The name of this photo is Phone Booth. It was taken on October 8, 2021 in Irondale. The camera I used was a Canon g9x. To edit it I used the Analog efex Pro filter, the blur tool, and I turned the contrast up. I wish that I did something better with the background.

Amira A- THE ART

I named this image The Art because when I look at the picture and see the color it reminds me of the art. I took this picture in front of my house and, for the background I used white paper  with brown and white color. It was taken in Subtember,18, 2021 around 3pm.  I take it with my camera name Nikon 350.To edit this picture I use an eraser to clean the flower and I make it darker. It would be better If I used more colors in the picture.

Aiden S- No Smoking HHS

This photo was taken in Aldridge Gardens on a weekend of this school year. It was taken with my Canon T7. I took out the No Smoking text and replaced it with Hoover High School for an assignment. It could have been better if I edited the text a bit to blend it more with the sign like making it look dirty and more real.

EMMA J - CAR DRIVE

The title of the image is called Car Drive. It was taken at the Bluff to the right of across the street from TIP TOP. It was taken two or three weeks ago. The image was taken by a Canon T6. I think it could be better if it was more colorful or had better exposure.

Madison R - KACHOW

This photo was taken on October 3rd at Talladega and was taken with my Nikon D3400 camera. I edited this by bringing down the brilliance and highlights and bringing up the saturation. I think this photo would be better if it was brighter.

Linley W- The Girl

This picture is called The Girl. The girl in this picture is my sister. This was taken in Chicago at the WNDR Museum over the summer in late June. I took this picture with my Nixon camera. I increased the saturation and sharpened up the overall picture. I added a little bit of vignette in order for the audience to focus on my sister. I really like this picture a lot, and I had  a lot of fun at the WNDR museum. I wish I took more pictures there, but it is okay. This picture could have been better if my sister's face was more focused. I also wish that the black bar-like thing in the background was not there. However, I do really like how this picture turned out.

Jerusha K- Green Nature

This photo is called green nature. I took this picture in April of 2021 at the entrance to Moss Rock Preserve. It was taken with my canon t7i. This picture came out really well and I didn’t have to use much editing. All that I did to the photo was manipulate the levels so it can have higher contrast and I increased the vibrancy a little so the background green can pop more. I am super satisfied with this picture and I wouldn’t change anything about it.

Katie G- Purple Hands

This image is called Purple Hands. I took this picture in my driveway with my cannon camera. I selected the background and turned it black and white, so just the purple pain would be in color. I blurred the background a little bit. I also made the purple a little more vibrant. It could be better if I had a better background.

Sophia C- Untitled

This image does not have a title. It was taken at my house in the kitchen sink for the hands and feet assignment. It was taken with my Nikon D3500 Camera on a tripod. I edited by making the image black and white and increasing the brightness of the image. I cropped it and also made the apple darker in order to make it stand out. It could have been better if I shot at a different angle so you could see the apple more clearly. I also could have shot from further away. I really like how the water is frozen in time.

Merit O -Lost In The Stars

The title of this image is Lost In The Stars. I took these two pictures the same night up at Bluff Park about 2 weeks ago. I took them with my canon rebel T5. I edited the two pictures by merging them together, bringing the stars out, adding a purple tint around the middle, and using the sponge tool to blend it out. Overall I like the outcome of the image but I think I could have shaped his figure more.

Clay K- @the STOGIES

The picture is named “@the STOGIES” This picture was taken on the weekend of oct 8.2021. The picture was taken during dusk with a 3 sec shutter speed. I brightened the image and left it it alone because it really allowed the picture to show the excitement and movement of the night.

Kaitlyn R- The Butterfly

The title would be The Butterfly. The image was taken sometime around in September in front of a mirror in the bathroom. It was taken with my Canon camera. I made the image black and white and changed the contrast and the brightness of the image. I then went to the Nick collection and added a filter over the image that had made the image darker around the edges and also had made the image blurry as well. Then I increased the scratch mark of the image. One way it could have been better would be to make it less blurry around the edges.

Sydney R - Heathers

The title for my Picture is “Heathers.” This picture was taken at the beginning of September in my bedroom. To take the picture, I used my Nikon D3500.  I first got a picture of my sister’s profile, duplicated the picture 3 times, made an exposure layer and brought the exposure all the way down to make a silhouette, altered the color of her clothes, and edited in the croquet bat. In some of the details you can see where I forgot to correct some mistakes from the selection.

Drew B- Tired and Heartbroken

I took this photo the other day with my friends at this spot on Shades Crest road. I was incredibly tired and heartbroken but we won't get into that. I don't usually like photos of myself but i thought this one was okay. I don't remember how I edited it.

Sasha Crowell- Low Light

Low light, this picture was taken at the mall at night. The camera was a Nikon D3200. I edited this image by removing extra light to make him the subject instead of a bunch of lights.

Mary Ryan M- Ah Girl

The title of this image is titled “Ah Girl” based off of the Beatles song Girl. This photo was taken on my front lawn in late September. This image is part of my first series for my sustained investigation. I edited this photo by making it black and white, and then adjusting the lighting to make the face darker and the sun brighter to create a contrast. The framing of this photo could have been better, but overall I am pretty happy with the outcome of this photo.

Jack Joyner - Buddha Trip

This work is titled Buddha Trip and it was taken in my room on Sept. 22. It was taken with my Canon Rebel T3 and I edited the image by cropping, adding a B/W filter and then a gradient map. After the gradient map I added a pattern and got the final product. It would be better if I could get a variety of colors however I stuck with orange as that is the symbolic color of renunciation in Buddhism.

Mitchell C - Dorian

The title of this image is Dorian, after the model. It was taken last week in the photography studio with my 6D Canon camera and my 85mm f/1.8 lens. I like how the vibrant colors contrast with the background and simultaneously compliments his skin tone. I could adjust the brightness, the values, or saturation of the colors, but I appreciate the simplicity of this image. I could maybe use this same lighting but adjust the posing and composition, but I really like this result.
