Jack L

No statement provided.

Matthew E- Nature

I took this photo in my backyard when i was going to take some photos of some trees when i stumbled on these birds. I took a couple of photos before they flew away. I edited this photo by added contrast and boosting the vibrance. I really like how the background is in out of focus so it helps you focus moire on the birds.

Meredith V- Carrie

I took this photo of my friend Katherine for the movie assignment. I chose the movie Carrie and we used Ketchup to represent blood. This was supposed to capture the scene at the prom from the movie. I edited this picture by increasing the brightness, making her paler. I also darkened the background and made the ketchup slightly darker. The contrast was boosted as well. I wish the “blood” looked more realistic.

Robert C - Moss Rock

This is a picture of my friend Kara I took this at Moss Rock last friday. This was one of the first pictures we took and also one of my favorites. Overall this picture turned out very well. I got the inspiration from an Instagaramer i follow that is currently on  a road trip around America.

Shelby A- Yellow Flower

The title of this picture is Yellow Flower. I took this picture with my iPhone a couple weeks ago. I edited it by putting a black and white layer on it and then just coloring in the flower then I brought back some color in the background.  Over all I enjoy this picture.

Cori J - Flower Thing?

I took this picture in the courtyard for the Earth Assignment. I took it with one of Mr. Rigsby’s cameras. I edited it by darkening it a bit to make some details stand out more. I also bumped up the contrast to give the “plant” more color. I would like it better if every piece of the flower thing was in focus. I tried so had to get it like that but the wind nor the flower were cooperating with me. I really love the way this picture turned out though.

Ashley G- Underwater Flower

This photo is called Underwater Flower. I took the flowers at my grandmother’s house and the lamp was from my house. It was taken during the middle of the day. I took this photo with Canon Rebel t3. When I was editing this photo, I used a lot of filters and layers to change the colors. This photo might have been better if some of the green in the photo wasn’t there.

Rebecca G- Brick Wall

I took this picture downtown on Morris Avenue for the 3rd choice assignment. I took it with my digital Nikon camera. I edited it by adjusting the brightness, hue and saturation, color balance and vibrance. I also added a gray layer and did some dodging and burning to add more contrast to the picture. I wish that the picture had more color.

Anna Kathryn D- Puff

I took this photo on my back patio close to sunset. It was cloudy outside which gives the pictures the darker tones. it was taken with a Nikon D50. I simply added 5 separate layers to the original image of the smoke bomb and on each layer painted the smoke with a different color. To make the colors not so dominant, I used the blending mode “color” and lowered the opacity and fill with each color. to erase the edges, i lowered the opacity and fill of the eraser. Lastly, i selected all 5 layers and merged them so they would blend together then i added brightness and contrast. I think it could be better if i had more smoke in the picture.

Isaac E- Water 1

I took this picture for the water assignment. The picture was taken at Aldridge Gardens of a still pond. The picture has not been edited in any way other than a crop. I really like the way the reflections make it look like a double exposure.

Hannah S- Alley Door

The tile of this image is all Alley Door. I took this downtown around the UAB campus area. I raised the highlights and brought out the color of the blue faded paint on the bricks. John Michael A - Abandoned

The photo I selected is titled Abandoned. I took this photo during the Earth, Metal, Water Assignment. I shot it with my Canon T3i at about noon last weekend across the street from Sloss Furnace in downtown Birmingham. Mason L - Downtown Double Exposure

This photo was taken downtown near sunset. It was taken with the multiple exposure technique that was in my Nikon D7100. The first shot was the silhouette of Kenny and the second was of the buildings. When editing this I decreased the brightness and contrast to bring more of the color into the second image that was overlaid in the camera.

Cori J - Earth 1

This picture is called Earth 1. I took this picture for the Earth assignment. This is a flower we have in our yard. I edited it by bumping up the contrast and saturation as well as lowering the brightness and adjusting the levels a little bit. I used picture from last ear for reflections of trees in the water and then i used a picture of a yellow flower and then I took a picture of an old camera. I edited it by brightening them p and playing with the opacity of the images to try and make them all stand out.

Ashley G- Stardust Piano

This is called Stardust Piano. The main picture is of the piano, and the pictures used for color are of crystal, a lamp, and flowers. I took all of these pictures with my Canon t3 camera. When I was editing these pictures in Photoshop, I used a lot of filters. This could be better if the keys were more distinguishable.

Mason L - Exposed Waterfall

I took this photo at Moss Rock for the low key assignment. I had a longer exposure set and it is two different shots stitched together in photoshop. This is one of my favorite shots and I was surprised how well two different shots stitched together. Isaac E- Water Drops

Sydney B- A Flower in Contrast

This image is called A Flower in Contrast because of the contrast between the flower in the background and the stem and the leaves. To edit this image I began by editing the brightness, contrast, vibrance, and saturation. I also adjusted the curves and added several black and white layers (at different times) and i also adjusted the layers. Overall I love this image, although i do which that the area that i made the color more prominent blended in with the tips of the petals a little bit better.

I am really happy with how this photo turned out. Happy Halloween.

Meredith V- Central Park

I shot this photo a few summers ago in New York, but never edited it. I decided to use it for my demo project, which was using a water color effect. I edited this image by adding a texture to the background and editing a photo of texture as well. I boosted the saturation and contrast of this photo. I then “Painted” on the image on top of the various textures. I like the effect, but next time I use this technique, I will not use a red t
exture because it messed with the overall colors of the photograph more than I would have liked.

Mason L - Illuminati Hands

This photo was taken outside with my friend Sams’s hands held in front of his face. I selected his hands and moved them into a separate document. Once I had his hands there I duplicated the layer twice and edited both those individually then overlaid them to a 40% and 60% to achieve this look. Once the photo was finished the way I wanted it I added my signature to the bottom right.

When I was editing this picture, I lightened up the background and made the whole picture brighter. I also put a black and white layer on it. It might have been better if all of the the glasses were in focus.

Anna Kathryn Downs-Vapor

This photo was taken in my bedroom in front of a black sheet, with a Nikon D50. Kylie, the girl pictured, used an e-sig to produce the smoke. I edited this picture by using the band-aid tool to mask blemishes on her finger nail and face. I didn’t do any major edits, mainly just used the brightness and contrast tools to give the image more depth. I think it could be better if i had a stronger light to make it a better low key image. This is one of my favorite pictures I’ve taken/
