Evelyn C - Branch

The title of my image is Branch. It was taken on March 28 near a tennis court while my family and I were out for a run around our apartment neighborhood. I took the picture with just my phone. My main edits were changing the curves slightly, using the Nik filter Color Analog, the Dodge tool, and Viveza. I used the curves to emphasize the contrast a bit. The Nik filter to brighten the center, give it a glow, and provide some contrast in the sky. The viveza tool was mainly to increase the saturation of the center of the flowers and dilute some of the color and brightness of the surrounding background.

I think this image is amazing! The focus of the flower is vibrant and clear despite the busy background and I really enjoy how the flower seems to be the brightest subject in the image. The color palette of the image appears soft and light and yet vibrant. I also love the balance in the light and dark areas you can make out the difference in especially the dark areas where there isn't too much dark in the image. Overall I enjoy this image, I think it could make a great background image on a laptop or phone.

This picture is really cool! I liked how the flowers are really focused but the building in the back is blurred. It sort of looks like the flowers are on top of the structure which makes the photo interesting. I think that brightening the center was a good idea, you really succeeded in contrasting the flowers with the sky. I like how the flowers and the sky are lighter and the building and trees in the background are a little darker. The only thing I think I would suggest is maybe bringing out the pink color in the flowers a little to emphasize all of the different colors in the picture. Otherwise great job! I really like how the setup of the flowers, trees, and sky give the picture and spring feel to it which makes it really enjoyable!

I love this image! I love the brightness of the flowers in the front and the darker background. I would straighten the photo a little to make the building that's in the back be even with the photo. I love this photo and the earthy tone.
