Julien F- The Redwoods

The Redwoods is an image I took over this past summer. I went on a trip to California with my sister and grandmother and visited the park while over there. I wanted to truly capture the height of the trees along with the flourishing greens when taking this shot. My camera had died on my while on the hike so I used my iPhone to take this shot. I didn’t edit the picture at all and if I could redo this picture I would use my camera instead just to get a clearer shot to catch more details along with editing the contrast a little bit.

I love this image! The field of view warping the trunk of the tree creates a very cool line effect that angles our attention to the top of the tree, well situated on one of the thirds. The centered nature of the picture creates an uneasy feel that matches the vertigo of looking up one of these massive trees. I think the image looks great, and if there was one thing I would've done differently it would be with a shallower depth of field, to really focus on the texture of the trunk in the sunlight. That's just preference, but I feel the way you shot it looks great too!

I really love this picture! I think you definitely captured the height of the trees along with the detail in the leaves. I really like how you took the photo at an angle that allows you to see both the height and the detail. I also like that you left the picture unedited because it really shows the natural detail and contrast of the colors in the image. Really nice job!
