Macy M- Coming Apart
The title of this image is “Coming Apart.” It was taken at my friends house over the break. I took it with my Nikon D3400. I removed her from the original photo and placed her on a blank white page. I then selected the right section of her face through the middle of the white paint and pulled that part to the side. In order to make her look more smooth, I erased the edges. I used Nik Collection to make it black and white and add a slight grain. I wish I had painted around both eyes in order to get more face in the separated piece. I wish I had adjusted her necklace and sweater a little bit. This is another photo for my Mental Illness AP Portfolio. I would love any and all feedback!
Jake D- Curb Appeal
The title of this image is “Curb Appeal”, and it is one of my recent conglomerates from my reflections assignment. One image that is in this photo was taken at the new Public off Lakeshore Parkway. The other was taken in the driveway of a small storage unit, even though you can’t really tell. This was taken the Wednesday before Thanksgiving break. I took these pictures using my Canon EOS Rebel T7i. I edited the first picture lighting using the Nic Collection and then reflected said image so it forms a triangle type shape. I then added a filter and a few other things using Analog Efex Pro. Then I added the second picture over the first one. It is hard to tell at first where it is but its definitely noticeable once you spot it. It could be better in the sense of it not being so distorted in a few areas. Even though it may seem like I was trying to achieve that, but I was not. Overall, I like this image a lot.

Olivia N-Reflection
The image is named Reflection and was taken in the studio. It’s a composite photo which includes two flowers and one portrait. I edited the image in photoshop and Nik collection. I cropped the portrait image and flipped it to create a reflection. Then, I edited each face into a black and white concept to compliment the other. Also, I then added a background image of a set of vines and change it to black and white also to have the entire image centered around these two colors. The image could have been better if certain parts of the image wasn’t as grainy and brighter than others.
Yuliana Z- Flower Shower
The title of my image is Flower Shower. I took the picture on July 16th with my Canon EOS Rebel T6 of my cousin Katelyn and the Botanical Gardens. To edit the photo I went into Nik Collection and used the detail extractor to bring more attention to her features, like her freckles. I then bumped up the contrast so her hair was darker, more distinctive and the original picture is very much washed out and the same overall tone so it helped a lot. I also removed a couple blemishes with the patch tool that she had on her lip, forehead and by her hairline. Originally I was going to edit this photo by having her face split through the middle and on the right side put her younger sisters face. Since her younger sister was smiling in nearly every photo and is a couple years younger, I felt their faces didn’t line up well enough for the effect I was going for. I also used the burn tool on her eyes. I tend to like my pictures darker so I struggled with trying to keep the photo too dark, I ended up deciding to keep the shadows on her face where I liked them and used the Nik Collections control points to brighten up the background around her hair. I really like this picture but I think to make it better I’d like to be able to soften some of her peach fuzz as to take attention away from it without making her face seem plastic.
Deebaj F- Circles
This photo was taken in the Art Studio for the circle assignment It was taken with my Canon Rebel T6 camera. For editing I use nick collection and make the background all black. I think this picture could be more better if I change the background.
Anna S- Untitled
I couldn’t come up with a title for this picture because I didn’t get enough sleep last night. I took this in my car one day around 4pm. I noticed when my friend left her phone in my car to go get something that there was a rainbow reflection. I had my camera on me so I took the photo. I edited the levels and vibrance. I also used the burn tool to darken the background. I then used the sponge tool to saturate the rainbow. I Also attempted to get rid of some smudges and fingerprints on the screen, but it kind of made it scratchy looking. Still pleased with how it turned out, though.

Mollie E- "Prism"
This image is entitled “Prism” and was taken in Springville back in early November with my Nikon d3400 camera. I edited this image using the color Efex filter in Photoshop and then again using the silver Efex pro filter. After getting the two copies of this image, I made a triangle selection from to color image and moved it over to the black and white image. I then added a stroke line around the triangle and set it to overlay to better separate the two images. Overall I really like the way this image turned out and there isn’t much I would do to change it.
Faye M- Finding Nemo Gone Wrong
The title of my Image is “Finding Nemo Gone Wrong” an it was taken in Florida over this past summer with my Canon Rebel t6. There are multiple layers of the Nik Filters, including an increase in contrast through the Viveza filter and a favorite recipe of mine in Color Efex Pro 4. I mostly played with the color and the contrast. I think that the photo would be better if I had gotten closer to the fish, because cropping in on the fish loses some of the detail. I really like this photo and it took me a while to think of a funny title.
Hillary A- Underwater
This is called Underwater. I named it that because I tried to make it look like the city was underwater with the sea animals. I used 5 different photos in this composite.
Anna Claire H - Isha
I took this photo of my friend Isha. I took this with my canon rebel xs. I like this photo because of the way the sun was very bright that day and gave some natural lighting. I took this a few weeks ago at Railroad Park.

David J- Lines with Circle
The image was originally a vinyl sitting on a white background. I took it a few weeks ago in my room with my phone. As I added certain filters, I ended up with the colors used. I slowly made it more abstract, and it eventually became what it is now.
Hannah R - Audrey
I took this photo at my friends house of a child that they baby sit. Her name is Audrey. I edited it by increasing the vibrance and saturation. I then darkened the background using the burn tool. I drew lines outlining her and I gave her nails for fun. I also brightened up her eyes. I’m pretty happy with how it turned out.
Alyssa C- Switch
The name of this photo is “switch.” I took this image in Ross Bridge on the trail that is near the railroad tracks. This is an image of an electronic switch that is used to change the path on which the trains travel on. My dad gave me some more insight about it because he is a conductor for one of the two major railroad companies here in Birmingham. I edited this image by first applying a filter over it and then sharpening the cracks of the paint. the edges of the screws, and the leaves or pine needles. To finish the photo I created a nice vignette around the left and right sides of the image. I really wish that some of the paint cracking could have come out sharper or more focused so that I would have been able to create that nice edge that would have added to the amount of detail in the image. I love the transformation from how the image looked before though. I really wanted to have as much detail as possible.

Carson R - Wild Eyes
This image is entitled “Wild Eyes”. I took this image at a photography class at the Birmingham Zoo on November 16 in the early afternoon. They brought out the great horned owl, whose name is Aubrey, and she modeled for us. It was a really cool experience. This was one of my favorite pictures I took because she is making a face similar to my cat when she gets mad. I edited this image by increasing the contrast of the image. I also copied the left eye over to the right because the original right eye was very shadowed. I used the dodge and burn tool to bring out some details in the feathers and I brightened the eyes a little bit. I really like this picture and I don’t think I’d do anything else to it.
Annalisa P- Purple
I edited this image using Photoshop, it was shot with my Canon t6. I went to Railroad Park in Birmingham and I was taking pictures of the flowers that grow alongside the path. I free lensed this image to get a close up on my area of focus. When I was using photoshop I lightened the color and added a little bit more vibrance. I added specks to this whole series of photos, I like the way it looks.
Ainsley M- Untitled
I don’t have a name for this image, but it was taken in Colorado back at the beginning of October with a Nikon d3500. I edited it by replacing some of the painted pavement with the clone and stamp tools and then I drew the rest of the road using the paint brush. I also increased saturation, contrast, and decreased the brightness. I feel like it could be better but I am not sure what I am can do to make it better.
Hayden H- Navy Training Airplane
I took this photo with my iPhone 11 a couple of weeks ago. I was on a field trip to Maxwell AFB with ROTC. This is a photo of a Navy training airplane. Originally, I did not think too much about this photo, but after editing the photo, really enjoyed the outcome. I drew onto of this photo, and tried to make it look like a sketch of an aircraft. I don’t think I would change anything about this picture

Faye M- Neon Daydreams
The title of my image is “Neon Daydreams” taken at the beginning of October in the studio at school. It was taken with the Canon Eos Rebel t6. The original image had blue light on the left and red on the right, so I knew I wanted to play with the colors, but maintain a deep amount of contrast to highlight the nooks and crannies in the face. I used the Color Efex Pro 4 filter with an increase in contrast, specifically the dark contrasts, and used the Structure function in the Viveza filter. I also used an overlay layer to deepen the shadows and accentuate the highlights. I’m not sure how it could be better, but I now it could be, so any constructive criticism would be helpful because this could be apart of my AP Portfolio.
Spencer B- Heaven on Earth
I took this picture in front of my house. I took it with my phone 10/28
I increased the color and light while using a chrome filter
in my opinion, I feel that it is perfect just the way it is. I couldn’t ask for anything better.

Katie N- Through the Lens
I call this image “Through the Lens” idk why I know its bad. I took this image in my friends jeep about 2 weeks ago. I edited it by making it black and white and lowering the contrast to make it look more soft. If I could change anything I would try to make my finger look still, but since I pressing the button it moves.
Jasmine W - Shadow Building
I took this picture when I was in Atlanta on October 10. I edited the picture by increasing the saturation and increasing the contrast. I wish the background was different because ti just doesn’t really match the vibe with the building to me.

Omar T-The Good Hit
This photo was taken at a restaurant in Homewood AL and I took this photo with my Canon Rebel T6 and I edited this photo using Nik collection. I like the way this photo came out. The angel and the duh look it has too it.
Esmeralda V- Bubble Guppy
This image was taken with my T6 Camera in a bathtub. This is a picture I took during the hands and feet assignment. The person in the image is my little sister. All I did to edit this photo was bump up the colors and I used a filter on the Nike Collection.

Zach B. - A Beautiful Past
This photo was made by random while working on some new editing techniques that I’ve been working on. I just randomly came across it and really ended up liking it. I just put a focused back ground color behind the main focus of the photo, the flower. I then used some long exposure shots of light to go in-between the back ground blue and the flower to give it a cool spirit like form to be floating around it. I thought the photo was really cool, I just don’t know what else I would do to the photo.
Stephanie T- Low Life
This was taken at Brookwood Village Mall parking lot it was taken on October 12. It was taken with a Canon Rebel Ti1. I lower the exposure and make used the burn tool to be able to blur out the people in the reflection on the car side. I think this image would have been better with it adding a little more focus onto the car and being able to blur out people on background. This day was such a great day.

Katie H - "Puppy Dog Eyes"
This picture is titled “puppy dog eyes.” This photo was taken for the high key-low key assignment. It is of my dog named Kody and was taken on a Nikon camera. I edited by converting it to black and white. I also cropped it and messed with the levels of the image. One thing I would change is make his mouth more sharp. Overall, I liked how it turned out.
Deebaj F- Untitled
This picture was taken on my Canon Rebel T6 in the Studio. I edited with the Nik collection’s black filter and then lowered the brightness and also I made the background all black to focus on lens. This picture could be better if there will little more white reflect on the lens.

Macy M - Suffocation
The title of my photo is “Suffocation.” This photo was taken on September 24th at 9:40 am. It was taken in the studio at school. It was taken with a Canon Rebel T6. I made the photo black and white, added a lot of detail, and did a lot of dodging and burning to get the final product. I was I had made the subject breathe in, in order to make it look more like they were struggling to breathe. There are also a couple little stops that I needed to get rid of. This image is actually for my AP portfolio. I’m trying to pray what it’s like to have a mental illness. I would love some feedback and constructive criticism on how I could improve the idea and look of the photos.
Morgan H - blah
My image is entitled ‘blah’. I took this picture using my Canon T6. I was messing around with the different gradient maps on photoshop and eventually ended up with this mess. For some reason, I really like it though. I also drew a Grateful Dead teddy bear onto my image and wrote ‘blah’ on it.
Austin C. - Out By The Lake
This photo was taken by the like next to the Hoover Public Library. It was taken with my Nikon D3300 with manual adjustments to ISO, aperature, and more. There are three separate parts of the image that were edited in different fashions. The lake is probably the least edited. I selected the water and changed the hues a little bit as well as brightness, contrast, and a few adjustments in curves. The trees between the lake and sky probably have the most done to them. They were originally on a spectrum of dark to light greens. I sectioned off the trees and turned them into more of a deep red color. After this I placed a ripple filter on the selected area and refined the edge and blended a little so there was a slight bleed over onto the lake and sky. The refined edge also allowed some of the color blending easier to manage with the purple and red from the lake and trees. For this image I had to clear the sky completely of what was in it. For this I sampled the most uniform color of the sky and used the paintbrush and stamp tool to remove multiple poles, power lines, and tree limbs from the area. I then placed a pattern from another image that makes up the rainbow drip effect. I used the clone tool to spread that pattern across the sky as well as get rid of as many hard edges that I could see. I then added a noise filter across the layer and tried to blend the edges into the trees as well as I could while still keeping them separate. I then made the sky a more cool tone and brought out the blue and green tones of the layer more. This was done to help it fit with the water more. At this point I was happy with the photo and just made slight adjustments to curves and such with the image as a whole as well as doges and burned different parts to accentuate different parts and details.

Olivia N-In the Night
The photo is called In the Night and was taken in Birmingham, AL and was taken with a Pentax K100D. I cropped the picture then, edited the photo in Photoshop using the Nik Collection filter. I darkened the background and parts of the flower’s base. I also increased the saturation and contrast in order to show more details of it while also add more light in some areas. It could be better if the image was taken at a different angle or distance.
Anna Claire H - Bham Sunset
I took this photo of my boyfriend a few weeks ago during sunset in downtown Birmingham. I took this photo with my iPhone this time. I edited it by adjusted the color of the sunset and trying to brighten him up a little bit. I like the overall look with the glasses. I wish the sunset could have been more vibrant.

Alyssa C- "Light Down Under"
The title of this image is “Light Down Under.” This was taken in the Ozark’s of Blanchard Springs Caverns in Arkansas in October. I took this photo with my Canon Rebel SL2. To edited this image I Increased the brilliance to make the light really pop behind the Calcite formation. Then I decreased the exposure, shadows, and highlights to bring out the beautiful color of the fluorescent rock. I love the texture on the rock itself and that was really what I was trying to accomplish bringing out, along with the gorgeous glow. I am truly in love with this image and am really proud of it.
Hannah R - Pink
I took this photo over the summer while I was in Homewood with some friends. I took it with my Nikon d3500. I edited it by putting a filter over it to make it look pink for fun. I adjusted the levels to make it a little darker. I also drew a white outline of the man on the sign. I think it could have been better, but I’m happy with it.

David J- Overgrown
I titled this image Overgrown because it looks like black vines are taking over my shoe. I took it a couple weeks ago in my car. I edited it by making it all black, adding a grass-like brush to the bottom, and adding black vines. I like it, but I could make it better with more realistic vines.
Annalisa P- Smoke
The name of my image is “smoke”. I took this photo with my Canon t6 and edited the image using Photoshop. I burned an incense at my house and hung up a black t-shirt behind the stream of smoke so you can actually see it. Then I used photoshop to darken the image so you can’t see the wrinkles and fabric of the shirt, and dodged the stream of smoke to add sharpness and lighten the image. This will be part of my spiritual wellness collection due to the fact that incense can help promote mental wellbeing.
Emily R- Untitled
I don’t have a title for this picture, but it was taken about a week ago in one of my favorite spots to shoot and I took it with my Cannon t6. I edited the colors and levels. I like this picture, but her face was a little dark. Overall, I am happy with the way this turned out.

Jake D- Hayden
This picture is called Hayden simply because the subject is my friend Hayden. This was for the high and low key project. And admittedly, these are some of my favorite photos I have taken in a while. This photo is simple and yet kind of complex at the same time(at least I think so). I edited it in photos and in Photoshop. I used a Pentax K200 to take all my pictures. I also feel that the equal light and dark sections of this photo help make it better as well.
Anna S- The Teenage Mind
I took this picture with my camera in my car. I edited it by adjusting the levels and exposure. I also enhanced some color and hues. I went in with the dodge tool and burn tool to highlight certain spots on her face to have the light bounce off her more. I also lightened the glare spots in the window. I thought they added depth to the picture. Finally, I put a VSCO filter on it. I am really happy with what I captured in this photo. I feel like the mood is definitely there.

Hayden H- What Does The Fox Say?
This was taken at the Birmingham Zoo on the AP Art field trip. It was taken with my Nikon D7100
I added a filter from the Nic Collection. I think I could have removed the frame to make this photo better
Alex H - Switch
This is a self portrait I took with my Canon Rebel EOS T6. I named it switch cause it sounded cool I guess. I edited it by turning it into black and white fixing it up with dodge and burn and then I copied the picture posterized it cropped a piece out and then layer it on top evenly. I think it could be better if the picture in the back had less noise.

Mollie E- "Apple Drop"
The title of this image is “Apple Drop” because an apple with a water droplet is what is pictured. I took this in my backyard, to get some natural lighting, at the end of September with my Nikon d3400 camera. To edit this picture, I used the basic adjustments in Photoshop and then I added the Viveza Efex filter from the Nik collection. I feel like this image could be better if there wasn’t as much grain in the background and if he dominant water droplet wasn’t as intense light-wise.
Carson R - Big Day
This image is entitled “Big Day”. I took this last weekend at my cousins wedding as she hired me to be the photographer. It was taken with a Nikon d3400 around 11am. I really like the lighting of this image. I edited in photoshop by increasing the contrast and using the dodge and burn tool to edit the dress and bouquet. I set up the screen behind the bathtub in order to hang up the dress how I wanted. I added a warming filter to the image, but I shot in aperture priority mode so the picture was already pretty warm. I really like this picture and don’t think I want to do anything to change it.
Hillary A- Esme
This is my friend Esme. I used this picture in the high and low-key assignment. I used my her phone as my light source and I took it somewhere, we both don’t know where. I really like how her eyelashes look in this.

Yuliana Z-Sneeze City
The title of my image is Sneeze City. I took this picture on October 11th at the Birmingham Zoo. I took the photo using my Canon EOS Rebel T6. I edited the picture by increasing the contrast, using the Nik Collection Color Efex Pro to increase the details, color saturation and increasing the brightness. I like the contrast the plant seems to have compared to the green in the background and the one strand. I could have gotten rid of the green plant strand to make the photo more cohesive. I saw this plant and wanted to be able to capture the soft details of this plant which was my main motivation to take the picture.
Ainsley M- Midnight Walk
This image is called ‘Midnight Walk’ and it was taken back in September with a Nikon d3500. I edited it by increasing the saturation, contrast and cleaning up the canvas under her feet. Mr. Rigsby also helped to add detail and make it more defined. I don’t really know how I could make it better.
Friday, October 25, 2019
Faye M- Judgmental
The title of this image is “Judgmental” because that was what I felt was happening when that bird looked at me. It was taken during the zoo trip in October. It was taken with my Canon Rebel t6. I edited it by pushing the contrast, dodging, burning and just generally sharpening the lines of the face and the beak. I would have liked more focus to be on the texture of the head because it looked almost like a pile of rocks, but I’m otherwise happy with it. I had a lot of fun editing this image.
Alexa S- Downtown Pensacola
This picture was taken on my Canon SL1 in downtown Pensacola. I didn’t edit this picture very much, but I made it a little warmer and cropped it as well. I think this photo could be better if the glass on the building had a better reflection of the clouds as it did in person.

Stephanie T- Lost
This photo I edited it and mixed different type of features such as 3D object, crop image inserted to fit the style, and writing by hand. It was taken with a Canon Rebel T1i the original photo and with photoshop. It was edited by taking the center image crop from the original uncentering it and placing 3D object transparency over it, used star stamp for the corners and used the drawing tablet to write the letters, and inverted the background color. I think it could have been better if the crop out edges was a bit cleaner.
Omar T- What's the Move
This Photo was taken at Miami Beach FL it was taken with my Canon Rebel T6 I used of the iPhoto filters which gave the photo better color. I think I could have edited the photo better by adding a different filter or positioning myself better. Overall I like this photo how it is and the look of it.
