David J - Hand

I took this picture in the studio a couple days ago. I upped the contrast and removed the rest of the arm. I also used some burn to make the image a bit darker. It could be better if I could make the hand centered.

Alexa S- Emily

This photo was taken on my Canon SL1 in a field near the school. When editing, I fixed the exposure and color balance and then I put a Nik Collection filter on it. I think this picture could be better if they sky wasn’t so bright and she was a little more in focus.

Macy M - In the Shadows

The title of this image is “In the Shadows.” It was taken on Sep. 24th at 9:35 am in the studio. It was taken with a Canon Rebel T6. I made it Black and White, darkened it, added dome definition, added contrast, and added a grain. I wish the hair looked a little different. I think I should have used the dodge tool a little more. I’m really interested to know what y’all think this photo portrays.

Carson R - United

This image is comprised of two images I took last year. I titled it “United” because I used Photoshop to bring the photos together of different subjects. Both images were taken with a Nikon d3400. The lion was captured sometime in the spring and the picture of Nicolette was taken last fall in Tuscaloosa around sunset. I edited this image by combining the two as they were both very dark and surrounded by the sparks. I had previously edited both by increasing the contrast and using the dodge and burn tools to bring out some details. I think it could be better if the lion was moved a little farther left.

Jasmine W - Moon

The picture was originally a blue sky, but I liked it black and white instead. So, I used the black and white filter. I used the contrast, brightness, and sharpen tool I believe. I really like this picture because it is surprisingly really, considering the fact that my Cannon PowerShot SX530 HS is not a high quality camera with okay zoom. Taking this picture was low-key hard though because I had to zoom in past the camera lens physical zoom, and so it was shaky but the picture still came out good.

Stephanie T.- FInally 17

I took this August 17 around 3 or 4 in the afternoon. It was taken with a Canon Rebel Ti1. I edited the background to make the cake stand out on its details. I feel it could have been better if some of the coconut would of stood out more. I was celebrating my birthday.

Morgan H - Listless

The title of my image is Listless, which is a synonym for sleepy. I had taken it at a farmers market in Nashville with my iPhone 7, because I forgot my camera. I edited it by adjusting the exposure, and adding a pink hue to enhance the greens and the details on the statue. It could be better if I took it with my actual camera and if it were more close-up. Also, while I was there I pet a lot of dogs and saw a lady with a cat on her shoulder it was great. Thank you.

Mia R - June

I took this outside of my friends’ house in June. I took it with my Canon camera. I turned the highlights down and the shadows up and gave it a slightly cool tint. Its a little of center but I kind like how it looks.

Spencer B- Praise

The title of this photo is praise, I took t a few days ago in mr rigsbys closet. It was taken with one of Mr Rigsby’s cameras. I added a filter and I increased the intensity. I don’t know how it could be better because I think it is dope already.

Macy M - Clique

This photo is titled “Clique.” This was taken on July 1st around 1:20pm in Colorado. It was taken with my Nikon D3400. I sharpened the image, added saturation, a warm tint, and a lot of contrast. I wish all the flowers were in focus. I named it clique because the flowers were occupy grouped in numbers of like three or four, it appeared to be all of these separate little friend groups.

Katie N - Heaven

I call this picture “Heaven” because this picture actually looks like heaven to me. I was take a few weeks ago at a trial by Vulcan. It was taken with my Canon T6. I didn’t edit the picture at all. I feel like it could be better if I made it all sky without the trees.

Katie H - Bubbles

The title of my image is Bubbles. This picture was taken during the summer down at the beach in the pool. This picture was taken with my phone. I edited it by adding a Nik collection filter and by messing with the saturation, contrast, color, and highlights/shadows. I think it would have been better if it was taken with a real underwater camera other than my phone.

Hannah R - Almost Sunset

This photo was taken over the summer at the beach. It was almost sunset. I used my Nikon d3500 to take it. I edited this image by adding a filter from the Nik collection. Also messed with the brightness and contrast to make is more bright and colorful. I’m pretty happy with how it turned out.

Emily R- Blending

The title of this image is Blending in. This was taken in the woods by a church two weekends ago. It was taken with my cannon T-6. I edited it by straightening it and making the colors pop. I could be more interesting, but overall I enjoy the picture.

Deebaj F- Untitled

I really don’t have any title for this. I took this picture near to my house this Summer. It was taken with my Canon Rebel T6. I first edited it with the Nick Collection and then add the circles and text. It could be better if I blended something else rather than circles in this picture.

Hillary A- At the Georgia Aquarium

This was taken at the Georgia Aquarium sometime during last week. It was taken with my camera, Canon Rebel t6i. I wanted the color to pop so I played with the hue and saturation. I wish I could remove the extra tentacles.

Omar T- In Boca Raton

It was taken in the beginning of summer In Boca Raton Florida and I shot this photo with my Canon Rebel T6. The thing I did to was add color burn on photoshop and made the photo darker as well as fixing some of the lightings and I think I edited photo the best I could and I love how it came out overall.

Austin C. - Yonkers

This image is titled “Yonkers”. It is many photos layers on top of each other, all of which were taken at different times and in different places such as downtown Birmingham and the photography room studio. It was taken with my Nikon D3300 and I believe it could be better with some better blending and lighting in different parts of the photo. Also if some of the features were a little less pronounced.

Anna S- Total Eclipse of the Sunset

I titled this photo “Total Eclipse of the Sunset” because it looks like an eclipse and it relates to the song “Total Eclipse of the Heart” by Bonnie Tyler. I took this photo over summer in Gulf Shores by The Hangout. I used my Nikon camera. I edited it by playing with the curves and adjusting the hues to be more orange/yellow toned. I also edited out a pole. I love the golden hour vibe and the darkening of everything besides the sun’s light. I think it is pretty.

Jake D- Drivers Perspective

I like to call this picture “Drivers Perspective". It was taken at Montgomery Motorsports Park on August 16. I took this with my Nikon Coolpix L830
This picture is unedited. Personally the only thing I would l wish was different about this picture is that the windshield wasn’t dirty. I feel like it’s a bit distracting and where the eye would be drawn first. This was one of many pictures I took while at the drag strip. I love cars so I took like 600 pictures while I was there. This was just one I really liked cause of the perspective. Any other peeps on here that like cars, I hope y’all like this picture too.

Esmeralda V- Ropa Sucia

This image is called “Ropa Sucia”. This photo was taken in Mexico sometime in May. I took this photo with my Canon T6. I edited this image by bumping up the color. If I would have edited out the cables in the back, it could have been better.

Anna Claire H - Cathedral

The title I chose for this image is Cathedral. I took this in New York City during the summer. I took this photo with my Canon Rebel XS. I edited this by adjusting the contrast and color.  I think it could be better if I adjusted the angle more.

Alyssa C- Lanterns by Night

This image is called “Lanterns by Night.” I took this Image inside of a shop in St. Thomas in the Caribbean. I took this with my Canon Rebel SL2 with a 18-55mm lens. I turned down the brilliance, highlights, and shadows to bring out the beautiful colors of the lights. Afterward I increased the black point of the background to hide the people standing in the background also admiring the lights. I wish that I could have capture the other lights around these ones, but there were too many other people around to edit them out. Even if I had been able to the background would have looked very sloppy. The funny thing is that below the lights read a sign that says “No Photos.” Definitely worth the risk of being thrown out of the store.

Mollie E- "Beach"

The title of this image is “beach” because it was taken at a beach. I took it over the summer at a store in St. George Island Florida with my Nikon d3400. I used the basic brightness and contrast tools in Photoshop and also used the shadows and highlight tool to make the picture more balanced. After that I used the HDR Efex from the Nik Collection to add a cool effect to the picture. I think that I could have made the image a little sharper but other than that I really like the way it turned out.

Olivia N- Hidden Florals

The image is called Hidden Florals and was taken at the Birmingham Zoo in April 2019. I edited it in Photoshop and by using Nik Collection. I adjusted the contrast and brightness in certain areas to make the leaves more visible in places and did the opposite for darker areas. Also,I added a small vignette to make the image appear to have a mystical theme to it. It could be better if parts in the middle and towards the top wasn’t as bright and not as blurry.

Alexa S- on Shades Crest Road

This picture was taken on my Canon SL1 on Shades Crest Road. When editing, I darkened the background and gave it some warmer tones. I also made her eyes a little more green. This picture could be better if her bangs weren’t blurry at the top.

Alex H - Summer

I took this picture over the summer pf my friend McKenzie. I took it at a place called flower hill with my Cannon EOS Rebel T3. I edited it by brightening her eyes, I used the burn and dodge tools in certain places to add emphasis to her face and making the colors more vibrant. It could be better if there were no trees and the clouds were brighter.

David J- The Wall

I named this picture The Wall. I took it in my backyard this past spring. I took it with my phone camera. I edited it by adding the Indian summer effect, playing with the exposure and saturation, and adding a border to it. It would be better if the quality was improved.

Yuliana Z- Waspsps

The title of this image is Waspsps. I took the picture at the Birmingham Botanical Gardens on July 16. I took it with my Canon EOS Rebel T6. I edited the photo by increasing the detail, brightness, contrast and saturation of the wasp. I also used a saturation tool that only changed the mossy portion of the concrete to a more yellow tone green. In a way, I could have cropped the photo closer to show more detail, but I like this approach more because it gives a more realistic size to the wasp. Overall I’m pretty happy with this picture.

Hayden H- Downtown Chicago

The title of this image is Downtown Chicago. I look this photo while on the Chicago band trip on March 14th, 2019. I took this photo with my Nikon D7100 with a 35mm lens attached to it. I edited this photo in Lightroom by increasing the saturation, brightness, and clarity. I also applied one of my personal presets to give it a pop of color. If I were to change how I edited this picture, I would probably decrease the saturation and the grain.

Zach B. - Longing Eyes

This is Longing Eyes,  a photo of my friend Olivia. This was taken in Homewood around city hall  labor day weekend. I took this photo with my canon Eos rebel T6i and my standard 50mm lens. I edited this photo by cropping the entire photo beside her eyes out. I also added a lot of saturation to the photo with bringing the brightness down a little too. I kinda wished I had more focus on the rest of face that is being shown.

Carson R - Beauty from Darkness

This image is entitled “Beauty from Darkness”. It was taken in Animal Kingdom at Disney World a few days before school started. I took this picture with a Nikon d3400. I edited this image by bringing up the contrast and brightening certain aspects of him by using the dodge and burn tool. I brightened his eyes a lot. I also painted the background black with the brush tool. I think this image could be better if the tiger was not as dark.

Faye M- Leafy Boy

The title of my selected image is “Leafy Boy,” because the tree that I took a picture of, as one can see, is a leafy boy. It was taken on September 2nd at Railroad Park. It was taken with my Canon EOS Rebel T6. In editing, I cropped the image closer to the leaf in the foreground in order to see more detail in the veins of the leaf. I also increased the contrast and brightness, all with the goal of highlighting the individual veins and holes in the leaf. I think it could be better if I had more leaves in the picture to make it appear more intricate. I also enjoy this picture because of the bright green! It makes me happy.

Ainsley M- Brooklyn Bridge

The title of the image is Brooklyn Bridge. It was taken at the Brooklyn Bridge in may and it was taken with a Nikon d3500. I edited the picture by increasing the exposure and brightness and decreasing the contrast. I also increased the saturation and adjusted the picture so it was symmetrical. I think it could be better if it was the whole bridge rather than just the top section of it.
