Anna Kathryn D- Puff

I took this photo on my back patio close to sunset. It was cloudy outside which gives the pictures the darker tones. it was taken with a Nikon D50. I simply added 5 separate layers to the original image of the smoke bomb and on each layer painted the smoke with a different color. To make the colors not so dominant, I used the blending mode “color” and lowered the opacity and fill with each color. to erase the edges, i lowered the opacity and fill of the eraser. Lastly, i selected all 5 layers and merged them so they would blend together then i added brightness and contrast. I think it could be better if i had more smoke in the picture.

Isaac E- Water 1

I took this picture for the water assignment. The picture was taken at Aldridge Gardens of a still pond. The picture has not been edited in any way other than a crop. I really like the way the reflections make it look like a double exposure.

Hannah S- Alley Door

The tile of this image is all Alley Door. I took this downtown around the UAB campus area. I raised the highlights and brought out the color of the blue faded paint on the bricks. I also used a black-and0white layer and turned the opacity down so that the focus is he black door. Overall I am very pleased with this photo.

John Michael A - Abandoned

The photo I selected is titled Abandoned. I took this photo during the Earth, Metal, Water Assignment. I shot it with my Canon T3i at about noon last weekend across the street from Sloss Furnace in downtown Birmingham. I was looking for metal objects to shoot and noticed an abandoned building across the street. The old wooden doors on the front of the building looked really cool, so I took a couple of pictures of them. I selected the best one of them and edited it slightly. I boosted the contrast and brightness and cropped in. I like this photo a lot.

Rebecca G- Low Key

I took this picture at my Aunt’s house for the high and low key assignment. I took it with my digital Nikon camera. I edited it by adjusting the brightness, hue and saturation, color balance and vibrance. I also added a black and white layer. I wish that more of the glass was visible.

Kelley M- Frostbitten

This image is titled ‘Frostbitten’. It was taken at my friend’s farm house and it was taken on a very sunny day. It was taken with my Cannon T3i. I edited it using photoshop. No it could not be better.

jack L- Kenney

This photo is titled “kenny”. kenny is in the photo and its just his name but shorter. But i took this photo on top of a parking deck downtown as the sun was setting. It is a little blurry so I’m not sure how i feel about it, to be honest

Mason L - Downtown Double Exposure

This photo was taken downtown near sunset. It was taken with the multiple exposure technique that was in my Nikon D7100. The first shot was the silhouette of Kenny and the second was of the buildings. When editing this I decreased the brightness and contrast to bring more of the color into the second image that was overlaid in the camera.

Cori J - Earth 1

This picture is called Earth 1. I took this picture for the Earth assignment. This is a flower we have in our yard. I edited it by bumping up the contrast and saturation as well as lowering the brightness and adjusting the levels a little bit. I also used color balance to add more red as well as blue to the picture. I would have liked this picture better if the flowers at the bottom were in focus.

Robert C - Porsche

This is a photo of a Porsche that i took at a local car show here in birmingham. I like how to sky and building reflect of of the car, and all that I did was boosted the brightness and saturation. Overall it turned out pretty good!

Shelby A- Nature

This picture is titled Nature. Its combined of 3 images for the site image. I used picture from last ear for reflections of trees in the water and then i used a picture of a yellow flower and then I took a picture of an old camera. I edited it by brightening them p and playing with the opacity of the images to try and make them all stand out.

Ashley G- Stardust Piano

This is called Stardust Piano. The main picture is of the piano, and the pictures used for color are of crystal, a lamp, and flowers. I took all of these pictures with my Canon t3 camera. When I was editing these pictures in Photoshop, I used a lot of filters. This could be better if the keys were more distinguishable.

Mason L - Exposed Waterfall

I took this photo at Moss Rock for the low key assignment. I had a longer exposure set and it is two different shots stitched together in photoshop. This is one of my favorite shots and I was surprised how well two different shots stitched together. The water looks really cool because the longer exposure, and I did have to use a tripod when I shot this.

Isaac E- Water Drops

This picture is titled “water drops.” I took it for the water assignment at my house. I turned the faucet in the kitchen on really low, and used a fast shutter speed. To edit it, i desaturated the background, and increased the saturation and vibrance of the water drops.

Sydney B- A Flower in Contrast

This image is called A Flower in Contrast because of the contrast between the flower in the background and the stem and the leaves. To edit this image I began by editing the brightness, contrast, vibrance, and saturation. I also adjusted the curves and added several black and white layers (at different times) and i also adjusted the layers. Overall I love this image, although i do which that the area that i made the color more prominent blended in with the tips of the petals a little bit better.

John Michael A -Clown

The photo I selected is titled Clown. I took this photo during the Earth, Metal, Water Assignment. I shot it with my Canon T3i at about noon last weekend at Sloss Furnace in downtown Birmingham. I was looking for metal objects to shoot and stumbled upon a clown costume propped up against a wall. I decided to take a couple shots of it and try to make a creepy Halloween photo. I combined the photo with another photo of a staircase that I shot on Morris Ave. I added a glowing edges filter on the clown and added HDR effects to the staircase. I darkened the photo as well. I am really happy with how this photo turned out. Happy Halloween.

Ben F- (Light) House

The title of this image is (Light)House. I took this photo this past summer in San Francisco, California. I took this photo with my Iphone 4s and edited the picture using the app VSCOcam and photoshop. This image was intended to be a High Key picture, so i think the darker parts of the lighthouse could maybe be a little lighter.
