Victoria S- Loss of Passion

This image is called “Loss of Passion.” It was taken in my backyard on November 9th with my Nikon camera. I edited it in photoshop by adding an analog filter and frame over the photo, increasing the overall brightness of the photo, and increasing the saturation of the flowers. I think it could have been better if I showed more of the guitar. This photo is part of my Sustained Investigation 2 which is focusing on the movement of music and the loss of passion. The subject in my photo is an old guitar that used to belong to my cousin before he gave it to me after he quit music lessons. In my photo, I wanted to tell the story of how the guitar had been forgotten and abandoned by making it seem the earth was slowly reclaiming it.

I really like this photo. The lighting is bright but it works well, as it entirely lights everything in the picture. Each of the colors also work amazingly with each other. I like this photo because of the symbolism (as well as everything I mentioned previously). The story of the earth slowly reclaiming it is good, but I was also reminded of flowers one would put over a grave because the guitar is not used anymore and could be considered "dead" because of that.
