Angel M- Lizards
The title of the image is Lizards. I took this picture with my Canon camera last year. I edited it by reducing the exposure and increasing the saturation. It could be better if it were sharper.
Finley B - Concert Night
The title of my photo is "Concert Night." I captured it last night during the MercyMe concert at the BJCC using my iPhone 14 Pro. I edited the image to enhance the contrast and reduce the exposure, which helps emphasize the lights. I also increased the saturation to make the colors more vibrant. Since I couldn't zoom in as much or use a professional camera, the photo is a bit less sharp and slightly blurry.
Sophia H - Carrie
The title I selected for my image is “Carrie”. I took this picture in the photography studio at school, sometime during early September. I captured the picture on my iPhone 11, editing it by changing the colors in the picture, adding a halftone pattern over it to make it look more comic book-y, and adding the text at the bottom from the original photo I took inspiration from. I feel like it would look better if I had all of the elements of the original Carrie movie poster in my recreation.
Victoria S- Stargazing
My image is titled Stargazing and I submitted it for the site image assignment. I took this picture August 18th in my backyard. I used filters in Photoshop to make the image appear darker than it originally was. I used an image of the starry sky and masked it over the lens. I used natural light as my light source. And for the finishing touch, I removed the Nikon logo above the camera lens and replaced it with HHS. I think it could be better if the camera wasn’t so blue. Overall, I am really happy with how this picture turned out!

Irais BC- Strutter
I named this picture “Strutter” because I couldn't think of anything, so I used Mr. Rigsby’s suggestion. I took this picture a few days ago for a different assignment, and it was taken outside in front of the library. I took the photo with one of Mr. Rigsby’s cameras, and I edited it by first adding brightening the whites and by darkening some of the shadows. Also by defining some of his facial features to make them stand out. I saturated the background a little to bring some color in the photo and I removed some of the hair and fuzz from his hoodie to make it look a little cleaner. I honestly really liked the outcome of the photo, I don't think I would change anything. Liam was very cooperative and not forced to pose! :)
Maya H- In the Theater Light Booth
I took this photo in the theater light booth for the Story Illustration Assignment; it is of my friend's eye with one of those Christmas light projector things shining on her face. I took it with my Canon Rebel SL1 and it is unedited. As for things that could be improved, I wish that her pupil and iris could have been a bit clearer/sharper.

Rachel N - That
Aleli S- Carson
I took this photo of my friend Carson this weekend. We took this at night, and he was standing in front of the light that we were using. It got a nice silhouette of him. I think I could make this better by trying to even out the right more.

Caroline S- Emails I Can’t Send
The title of my image is “emails i can’t send,” because that is the title of the album playing. It was taken in my room on August 17th and I took it with my Nikon 3100. I edited it by brightening it and I think it would be better if the title was clearer.
Surya P - Strings of Faith
This photo was taken in a field near my house at about 6 PM, so the sun was right about the horizon. I took the image with my Nikon D750 with a 24/120mm lens. The image shows my guitar and the corner of one of my Bibles resting near it. I was kind of inspired by worship music when I was taking the photo. I edited it the photo by slightly adjusting the brightness and contrast to bring out the details in the wood and the text on the page. I think I could improve the photo by focusing on both the guitar strings and guitar.

Anna G- Head Above Water
The title of the selected image is “Head Above Water”. This photo was taken in my house on the first day of summer break. This photo was taken with my Nikon D1000. I edited this photo by adding more wall and overlaying the water and making it look decent and then layering a bunch of filters on top. I think this photo could be better if you could see the empty jars being held more clearly.
Hayden C - Julep's Smile
I took this photo with my Canon camera on September 9, 2025, of one of my friends’ horses, named Julep. I was just taking random pictures, and she kept yawning, so I thought it’d be funny to get an awkward picture from underneath. I edited mainly by bringing up the brightness, lightening shadows, and bringing up highlights, as the original photo is very dark. I tried to keep her nose as pink as possible without making it seem gross, although the picture itself is a little gross alone.

Nicholas T - Our Craft
I titled this image “Our Craft”. I got the picture of the Hoover High School from the courtyard and the cameras I borrowed from Mr. Rigsby. They were taken on August 25 and August 28 respectively. They were taken with my DSC-W800. This is a composite image with a dreamy filter applied to the words “Hoover High School”. On top of that the cameras were given a contour, paint, and glow around their edges. The paint is a bit rough around the edges and I could’ve spaced the cameras better.
Nabeyal K- Caged Sun
The name of the image is called “The Caged Sun.” I took the photo in my house, i took it a 2 weeks ago. It was taken with my camera. I edited it by brightening the colors. I wish there was something more to focus on.
Kais C- Grassy Delights
It was taken on the 31st of August in my backyard. It was taken with my iPhone 13 Pro. I edited it with Lightroom, giving it a pop and including cropping, having less blur in the background, and more focus on the camera. It could be better in so many ways. I want to retake the photos and go over them again with more.
Shelby S- Site Image
This photo is called Site Image. It was taken in Mr. Rigsby’s studio some time during the school week. It was taken with my friend Kye’s camera. I added some exposure, contrast, and saturation. I wish I would’ve turned down the exposure and used different light colors.
Maya H- Untitled
I took this photo last year and then used it for the Site Image Assignment this year. I cropped the original image and did a little bit of editing on it, clarifying it and enhancing the colors a bit. I then added the text. making it parallel to the edges of the lampshade. As for what I could have done differently, I think I could have done something more interesting with the text.

Kaleb G- E
The titled of the imagine is E and it was taken outside my house. I edited by turning the imagine red. I could make it better by getting a better by editing better maybe put some lighting effects.

Angel M- Flower
The title of this image is flowers. It was taken in my backyard in Hoover. I took it with my Canon camera. It could be better if I centred the flowers more.
Surya P - Blue Mater
This image is of a truck engine. It was taken at a car show in Atlanta in early August. It was taken with my Nikon D5600. When editing it, I enhanced the blue of the and adjusted it so the shadows were darker and the highlights were brighter, I really liked how the light was hitting it. I think if I had gotten the background to be more blurry and boca more it would have been cooler.

Rachel N - Flowers
The title is Flowers. I took it in the Birmingham Zoo during a field trip. I took it with my Nikon D300 Camera. I edited it by playing with the saturations and fixing the colors. It could be better if I turn the brightness down a little bit. Overall, I like how it turns out. The edits gave a dreamy look.
Liam D- Sewer
This was taken early August 2025 and it was taken in the Ross Bridge trail. Taken with a Canon 8
I started it a lot as well as made the image colors all wonky If I added some VHS effects, it would be better.
Kye W – Spirit Week Toga Day
This image was taken in the school hallway during Spirit Week on September 8, where the theme was Toga Day. I captured this photo with my iPad, making use of the natural light from the window behind the group. I did minor editing by slightly adjusting the brightness and contrast to make the colors of the togas stand out more vividly. The photo could be improved by using a camera with a sharper lens to reduce the backlight glare from the window and by repositioning the group so that no one is in shadow. I chose this photo because it represents school spirit, unity, and creativity as everyone put effort into their costumes to celebrate the theme together.

Anna G - Old Future
The title of this image is “Old Future”. This photo was taken in my bedroom over the summer. This photo was taken with my Nikon D1000. I edited this photo by using the contrast sliders and a bunch of layers and just kind of layering them on top of one another and doing weird stuff to them. I honestly don’t know how I ended up with this picture I was just kind of playing around on photoshop. I think this photo could be a bit better if the subject was a little bit more in the center.
Darnell C- KEEP OUT!!
It was taken at my house 8/16/25. With a Samsung flip phone. I made the photo darker
I could make the background darker, and the flashlight brighter.
Sophia H- Lizard On Da Hand
The title of the image is “Lizard On Da Hand”. It was taken in Oak Mountain State Park in the summer of 2025. I took it with my iPhone 11 Pro Camera, and I edited it with my MacBook photo editor by giving it more color and better lighting. It could be better if it was taken by a better angle.

Ethan S - Mecanico
This image is named Mecanico, because it is an old auto-repair shop. I took this picture near Gadsden about a month or so ago with my Nikon D40. I haven’t edited it much, if any, but I think it stands up on its own pretty well.
Finley B - Over the Rainbow
The title of my image is “Over the Rainbow.” I captured it in the early weeks of August at my old elementary school playground. I used my iPhone 14 Pro to take the photo. Initially, the picture appeared quite orange and dark, so I edited it to have cooler tones with more pink. I also considered removing some of the trees to improve the composition.
Aleli S- Church Tower
I took this photo at the beginning of this month in Montgomery. It was a very cloudy day, so the sky was gray. All I did in this photo was make the sky blue and make the church tower brighter.
Hayden C - Fluffy Flower
The title of this photo is “Fluffy Flower.” It is titled after the main subject, the stray cat Fluffy Flower. She used to have a counterpart who was simply named Flower, but he disappeared and is now presumed dead. This was taken on September 1, 2025, with my Canon camera in my backyard. I mainly made the photo warmer and brighter to bring out the orange in her fur. I then used dodge on her eyes to bring them out a lot, which is something I usually do. I love bringing out the eyes in the photos I take.

Caroline S- Kodak
The title of my image is “Kodak” and it was taken on a chair in my room in August. I took it with my Nikon D3100. I did not edit the photo and I think it would be better if the camera had focused more on the lens of the camera on the bottom left.
Calliope T- On a Shoestring
This photo is titled “On a Shoestring” and it was taken on March 2nd, 2025 in Bluff Park outside of On a Shoestring. I edited it by making the colors more vibrant and increasing the contrast. I thought about trying to edit out the cables, but wasn’t sure if it would look right. I think it could be better if I edited out the cables.

Irais B-C - Drops
I took this picture in that one old-looking neighborhood by Moss Rock Preserve. I took it about a few weeks ago while working. I took it on my iPhone 16 Pro, and I edited it by saturating the color and bringing it out a little. I also tried not to make it so blurry, but if one were to focus their eyes well, they’d be able to see it. Along with that, I darkened the background to give the drops on the glass more visibility. I think could've made it better by focusing better on the drops and having the background be the most blurry part of it, while still being able to distinguish what it is.
Victoria S- Butterfly Flowers
This picture is titled “Butterfly Flowers” because it was taken at the Birmingham Zoo in the butterfly garden during the HHS Digital Photography field trip. It was taken with my digital camera. I edited it by increasing the exposure and saturation. I also added a color filter over my image. I think it could be better if the yellow wasn’t so saturated.

Kye W – The First Cry
This image was taken in my living room during the evening, shortly after my newborn sibling was brought home from the hospital. I captured it on my iPhone, using the built-in camera app, as they let out one of their first loud cries. I edited the photo by slightly increasing the warmth, lowering the clarity for a soft focus effect, and adding a vignette to bring attention to the center. The blurred edges create a dreamy, almost surreal feeling, emphasizing the raw emotion in the baby’s face. To improve it, I could have adjusted the lighting to reduce shadows and used a faster shutter speed to make the details sharper. This image is meaningful to me because it freezes a pure, unfiltered moment of new life, something that only happens once and can never be recreated.
Nichlolas T- Bristling
This is a kaleidoscope image that I titled “Bristling”. It was taken last school year for the kaleidoscope project. It is the result of photographing a broom close-up in my laundry room. I used my DSC-W800 to take this photo. On the usual fanfare of kaleidoscopic imagery, I increased the contrast and brightness, as well as adding a purple border around it. The images might not be exactly even with one another.
Rachel N - Above
This photo is called Above. It was taken in Chicago during my summer vacation on July 28, 2025. It’s a picture of buildings from below. I took it with my iPhone 15 Pro Max. I didn’t edit it. It could be better if I had edited it, but I feel good with this picture.
Nabeyal K- The Ultimate Sandwich
I took it in the mall and it was taken 2 years ago. It was taken with my iPhone I could have made it brighter and I could have cropped it.

Angel M- River
The photo I submitted is a picture I took during a trip to Washington D.C. I took this using my Canon camera. I edited it by increasing the saturation and shadows to make the image seem less dull.
Caroline S- Catu
The title of my image is Catu because that is all I am able to read off of the building. It was taken this summer in St. Louis beside the arch. It was taken with my Nikon Coolpix and I edited it by brightening and sharpening it. It could be better if the quality was better.
Victoria S- Little Lamb
This image is titled “Little Lamb” because it’s a picture of a sheep. It was taken at the Birmingham Zoo during the HHS Photography field trip. I took this picture with my Nikon camera. I edited this photo in Photoshop and increased the brightness and saturation. I don’t really know how to make this picture better. Maybe I could’ve tried taking it at a different angle. I think my favorite part of the photo is the sunlight casting down on the sheep like a spotlight.
