Merit O- 350z

The name of this image is 350z. I took this picture at a place that overlooks the city of Birmingham sometime in December. I took the image with my canon rebel T5. I edited the image by bringing more of the color out in the sky and lighting up the ground. I’m really happy with how this image came out and there isn't much I would do to change it.

Mary Ryan M- The Regal

This image is titled The Regal. It was taken late January while on a trip to Nashville. It was taken with my Canon Rebel camera. The building is a movie theater that I came across when I was exploring before going to the hotel. I edited this image by bringing up the contrast because the weather was overcast, and caused the image to be dull. I brought up the brightness as well to make the building show up against the white of the sky. I think that the image could be better if the sky was not white, but I was worried another color would take away from the color of the building.

Diana H- Flowers

I took this picture in the kitchen and it was taken around 7PM.This picture was taken with my Canon camera EOS 7.I set up the camera to HDR mode and started shooting.I edited it by using photomatix Pro 6 and blended all the three pictures together.I added a filter to get a darker mode.

Katie G- Trees

The title of this image is Trees. I took it in my backyard one afternoon after school for the HDR assignment. I took it with my Nikon camera. I used Photomatix to blend the 3 photos with 3 different exposures into one. I adjusted the vibrance and contrast. I think it could be better if I had used a tripod to take the picture instead of just holding the camera, so the picture would have been more aligned. Overall I really like how this picture came out.

REGAN F- Stones

This photo is called Stones. I took this picture in the studio in class last week for our HDR assignment. I took this picture with my canon camera and edited of course using the Photomatix Pro 6 to use the HDR affect and then I touched the image up with some brightness and contrast enhancements as well as cleaning the surrounding background with the spot healing tool. I do wish I had some more crystals and/or jewelry to add some more spice to the picture. Overall tho I am really happy with the finished project.

Clay K- Birds on Bluff

The picture is of the bluff shooting towards Shelby county. While the birds are from a shoot in my backyard. The birds are the background and the sunset is overlaid on top. There were a few specks in the background that were cropped out. The birds are Yellow tailed Waxwings and they went to roost for the night. The image was taken with a 1000mm lens and the sunset was taken with a 200mm lens; both with a nikon d5000 camera body.

MaKena C - Dusk

The title of this image is Dusk. It was taken on the morning of February 18th in my mothers garden. I took it with my Nikon D3500. To edit this photo I went to Photomatix and messed with the contrast. I then went into photoshop and turned up the contrast  again to increase the shadow. I don’t remember exactly what I did but I played around with the shadow and highlight and ended up with this result. I really like how this photo turned out.

Sophia C- Cliffside

The title of the image is cliffside and it was taken with my Nikon 3500 for the HDR assignment. The image is of the inside of a tree stump in Illinois after it snowed. I named it cliffside because the image looks like a mountain range. I edited by adding a filter from Photomatix to add more detail to the entire image. Then in Photoshop, I added a Nik collection color Efex filter, to make the image more colorful and more story-like. I really like this image and wouldn’t change anything about it.

Emma J - Isabella

The image is named Isabella because that is my friend’s name. It was taken last month in Montgomery during the HOSA state leadership conference.  I used a Canon PowerShot ELPH 180 which is a point-and-shoot DSLR camera. This image is straight from the camera, however, there is the ability to use a filter on the camera, which created that effect for the image.

Drew B- Bryce Hospital

I took this photo at Bryce Hospital with my Nikon D5600 I really like this photo as black and white I think it represents the old dilapidated building very well

Mitchell C- Complexity In Masculinity

The following image is titled Complexity In Masculinity because I was trying to assimilate how men in modern society have to uphold a strict image of how they behave, when, instead, they should express and explore more femine parts of themselves, which I tried to accomplish by incorporating flowers. I used my Canon 6D camera body  in conjunction with my 85mm f/1.8 lens. I like the undertones of the image, and the mood and intensity the black and white creates. I think this image successfully portrays a masculine tone, but if I were to make one change, it would be to highlight the flowers or make them more noticeable. Through this adjustment, I think it would alleviate any confusion and emphasize the disconnect between femininity and masculinity. Otherwise, I am happy with the results of this image.

Amira A- Pumpkin Light

I named this image “ Pumpkin Light '' , because there is pumpkin in the picture and light around the pumpkin. This photograph was taken in the class's studio. To edited this photo, I used HDR. First, I shot three photos in the same location, then I edited them in Photomatix Pro 6 till I got this final result. The Canon T6 was used to get this shot.

Sasha C- The Wonder Land of St. Louis

The wonder Land of St. Louis. This picture was taken in St. Louis, during the day. It was taken with Nikon D3200.I edited by Increasing the saturation and changing the sky, by using the sky replacement tool, that can be found under edit in photoshop. THus picture could be better if it was much sharper.

Linley W- Horse Bucking

The title of my picture is Horse Bucking. I took this picture with my Nikon camera a few weekends ago at a rodeo on Pelham. This was my first time shooting pictures that were in pretty fast motion. I edited this picture by increasing the contrast and saturation. I also made the overall picture brighter and sharpened it more. I made it to where the main focus was the horse. I also added some Nik Collection filters on top of it. This picture could easily be better. I wish it was more focused and less blurry. If it was more focused, then that would have been cool. However, I did fall in love with the motion blur as I was editing this picture.

Jack J - Jilian B_W

This image is titled Jilian B/W and it was taken on February 26 at my uncle's property in McCalla with my Canon SL3. I edited the image by adjusting the brightness, levels, and adding a black and white filter. I got Rigsby's help in making the background pop and keeping Jilian clear. I think if I had more control over the lighting the image could be better.

Abigail Pugh- The Light & Dark

This picture is called The Light & Dark. I took it with a Canon Rebel T6 in the studio at school about two weeks ago. When editing it, I increased the hue and saturation for the specific colors to bring out more of the colors in the picture. I also adjusted the curves to allow for more light in some parts of the picture and to keep other parts darker. I adjusted the brightness/contrast and the dodge and burn tools to add more detail and bring out more of the shadows within the picture. Overall, I really like this picture, but I wish I could have worked a little more with the dodge and burn tools.

Merit O- Dark Road

The name of this image is Dark Road. I took this image over this past weekend on a road near Ross Bridge around 10:30 at night. I took this image with my Canon Rebel T5. I edited the image by making the light a warmer tone and darkening it. I then brighten the sky a little bit. Overall I really like how this image turned out and there is not much I would change.

Linley W- Neighborhood Cat

The title of my picture is Neighborhood Cat. I took this picture at my father’s house from our backyard. The cat was laying in the neighbor’s backyard. I took this picture roughly two weeks ago on my Nikon camera. I edited this picture by adding contrast and saturation. I darkened the background while sharpening up the cat. I made the warm colors in the picture more apparent. I also brightened up the overall picture, but mainly brightened up the cat. This could have been better if some of the background objects were not there, but overall, I really like this picture. I am happy that I took it.

Aiden S- Distorted

I call this photo “Distorted.” I took this photo with my Canon T7 Rebel. I took this photo when we did the panormas assignment. I've taken about 15 different photos for this photo and combined them together to create one single image. I have changed the lighting on each one to create this unique type of design and I like how it's like different perspectives. I should have blended in the lighting more and made it go into the light slowly kind of.

Allie S- Grandpa

The title of the image is Grandpa. It was taken at my grandparent’s house on Thanksgiving. It was taken with a Canon Rebel XS. I edited it by using photoshop and using the color efex pro 4 and adjusting the lighting and coloring. I wish the picture was a little clearer but I like it.

Nema H- Starbuck's Drink

The title of the selected image is Starbuck’s Drink and it was taken at Target on February 20 2022. It was taken with my phone and I didn’t do much to it because it was already really nice but I just used brightness/contrast and also levels. I like everything about it and wouldn’t change anything.

Kaitlyn R- Church Building

The title would be Church building. It was taken around the time of late January or early February at downtown Birmingham. It was taken with my canon camera. I put the photos together in photomerge and after that I had a touch of some of the edges of the picture using a clone stamp. When I was done with that I used Nik Collection for the brownish filter on the image which also had the black border attached to it.  The next thing that I did was change the brightness and the exposure. I think it could have been better if I took the picture at a different angle where the tree and the building in the corner wouldn't have been in the image, but at the same time I also somewhat like it so I didn’t mind keeping it there.

Sydney R - Photo Reflections

This image is called “Photo Reflections.” It was taken some time in the fall in the afternoon in a closet, so that I could control the amount of light that came in . It was taken with my Nikon D3500. To edit, I increased the saturation, contrast, and vibrance, to make the blues and purples pop. I like the way the image is already!

Shae M- Mancave

The title of this image is “mancave”. It was taken with my Nikon D3500 in my mancave in the middle of January. I took this photo for the panorama assignment. I edited this image by blending all of the images together to make a panorama, bringing up the contrast, and using one of the black and white filters from the Nik collection. It could be better if I fixed a few of the spots that the blending messed up, and if the space itself was a little more neat. Overall, I was really happy with this image.

Diana H- Sunset

The name of this image is Sunset. I took this image around 280 street, the time was around 5:00 PM.It was taken with my iPhone. This picture was naturally pretty I only cropped.

Madison R - Bee

This was taken at the Birmingham Botanical Gardens in June with my Nikon D3400 Camera. I edited this by bringing up the detail and saturation. I don’t really like the lighting in the photo so I had to edit the highlights a lot to make the lighting look normal.

Bess H - Two Paths

The title of the selected image is “Two Paths” and it is called that because of the road and the golf path. It was taken in my neighborhood with my Canon 4000D. I took it at around mid-evening about 2 weeks ago. I first cropped it and then I put a Nik Collection filter on it. After that, I upped the contrast and brightness a tad. I really like this image, it is probably one of my favorite photos.

Katie G- Pocket-watches

The title of this image is pocket-watches. I took it at my house for the Circles assignment we did first semester. I took it with my Nikon camera. I didn’t do much n editing just cleaned up a few spots and adjusted the brightness, contrast, and saturation. I think it could be better if there was no glare on the silver pocket watch and if it was a little bit more in focus. These were my grandad’s pocketwatches so they are pretty old but I like how vintage and nice they are.

Mary Ryan M- Cellophane Flowers of Yellow and Green

The title of this image is Cellophane Flowers of yellow and Green. This image was taken in the studio with my Canon camera. This image was taken for my sustained investigation and is based off of the song Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds. To edit this image I started by bringing up the brightness and contrast to make the model stand out against the background. I then went in and drew the lines and flowers. I layered the flowers to surround the model and add depth. This image could be better if it was sharper, and the drawings were a bit more uniform.

Clay K- Two Eastern Bluebirds

This image is of two eastern Bluebirds that are nesting the old dying dogwood. The image has no name. The image was taken with a 500mm and a Nikon D5000. The picture was edited by adding an iris blur around both of the birds. I changed the hue, vibrance and the color balance. There is also a yellow film and photo filter over the main image.

REGAN F- Gone Too Soon.

This photo is called Gone Too Soon. This picture is a composite photo. ⅔ of the pictures were taken this past July at my friend Mason's memorial. I took these pictures with my Iphone XR. I edited these pictures by combining them all together and adding some blending options. I also used a NIK Collection filter on one of the photos which added extra personality to the photo. I do wish the photos were able to blend a little better together but this picture holds a special place in my heart.

Amira A- Sad Flower

I gave this image the name “ Sad flower” because it looks very sad. I took this picture three months ago in the backyard of my home . I took this image with my iPhone 6s. To edit this picture I just use Image and adjustment and then brightness and I add more brightness. It could be better if I take it with my camara.

Jack Joyner - Garden District 2

This image is titled Garden District 2 and it was taken in Auburn on February 5th with my Canon SL3. I edited the image by posterization and then added a gradient map. The image could be better if I were farther away from the spikes and had a better view of the surrounding area.

Emma J - BURN

The title of this image is BURN. It was taken in R-Dogs photo studio last month. It was taken with a Canon T7. I was also using different lighting techniques as well as the heavy use of the Nik Collection and its filters.

Sasha C - BallRoom

BallRoom is the name of this image. I took it in St. Louis and it was taken during the day. I edited this image by applying a filter to make it less shiny and hard on the eye. Also applying a sky replacement filter to make everything come together instead of having a blue spot, because it was just clear blue sky.

MaKena C - Sidewalk

The name of this picture is “Sidewalk”. I took it in my driveway a week ago. It was taken with my Nikon D3500. I didn’t really do much to it. I turned the contrast up and sharpened it a bit. I wish I had made it darker around the leaf.

Sophia C- Lemon Water

The title of this image is Lemon Water. It was taken on my front porch for the circle assignment, in the fall. I captured this image with my Nikon D3500. I edited it by increasing the contrast of the entire image which added detail to the ice cubes. Then I selected the lemon and increased the brightness and saturation to make it stand out. I think this image could have been better if the background had more colors and the overall image was brighter. Overall, though I am very pleased with the end result.
