Macy M - Suffocation

The title of my photo is “Suffocation.” This photo was taken on September 24th at 9:40 am. It was taken in the studio at school. It was taken with a Canon Rebel T6. I made the photo black and white, added a lot of detail, and did a lot of dodging and burning to get the final product. I was I had made the subject breathe in, in order to make it look more like they were struggling to breathe. There are also a couple little stops that I needed to get rid of. This image is actually for my AP portfolio. I’m trying to pray what it’s like to have a mental illness. I would love some feedback and constructive criticism on how I could improve the idea and look of the photos.

I like this photo. I like how you made it black and white. The contrast between the black and white looks really good. Good Job!

I really love this photo because of the subject matter and the execution. I love the soft lighting on the fabric, as it adds an extra layer of detail. I also enjoy the idea of the subject being centered, but I do think it would be interesting to make the subject slightly off center or facing somewhere to the side of the camera itself. The mood I feel after seeing this photo is very restrictive, maybe not suffocating, your idea to make the subject breathe in order to see the fabric move seems perfect. Aside from that, I still love this photo!

I really like this picture. It's a very simple picture but it tells a story which I really like. I also like how it is black and white and the shadowing in the photo. If I had to change one thing, I would have backed up from the subject and given more area of the photo or maybe tried and capture it at a different angle. Overall, cool picture!
