Jasmine W - Bird Box
For this picture, I combined three different pictures. The Man standing in front of the trolley is from a different picture and the sun behind the roller is it’s own picture placed in the background. I changed the hue in an of the windows that would’ve had the sun’s reflection to orange so it would be more realistic. The composite is based off of the Netflix movie Bird Box, and in the movie people who kept their eyes open to technology or the outside world tried to kill themselves along with others. In the picture, the man is standing in from of the trolley because he got taken over.
Heath M- Red Moon Rising
This picture is titled “Red Moon Rising”. I took this picture with my Canon EOS 80D during the lunar eclipse that happened recently. I stayed outside till about 12 to take this and was really pleased with it. I cleaned it up a bit and made it more dramatic but other than that I did nothing to the picture. Overall, I enjoyed this picture and thought it turned out pretty good.
Magali V- Lea
This picture is of my friend, Lea. I used a colored film in red and blue to create a contrasting color effect. I really like this lighting effect so I did just a little bit of editing in photoshop. I think that this would be better if it was overall brighter, but I really like it.

Zach B. - Thorns in My
This is the first photo of my HDR assignment. I took it while at my grandmothers house. She has been paying for some people to clear off her side of the mountain and while I went to go look at the progress the sunset just happened to be setting. The sunset had large tints of red to it which really helped the outcome of these photos. I didn’t do anything but change some of the contrast and brightness after putting it through Photomatix. I think that the photo could have come out a lot better focus wise, but I still like the photo a lot no doubt about it.
Annalisa P- Yellow Flower
The Title of my image is Yellow Flower and was taken on the side of the road by Scout creek. It was taken with my Canon Rebel T6 while I was free lensing. It was edited using photoshop, I brought out the brightness of the flower, and added a soft grain to it.
Hannah J- Ferris View
This image was taken in California on a Ferris wheel, which is why it is named Ferris View. I took it on my Canon PowerShot, and edited by bringing out the colors and contrast. I also added a brush strokes filter on top of it. It could be better if it was more in focus and had more details.

Danielle M - Bukowski
I took this image with my Nikon D5100; it’s called “Bukowski”. This is an image of something I did for my AP English class. I interpreted Charles Bukowski’s “The Laughing Heart” poem into a series of images that I took and combined into a composite. I took the background in Homewood, the flowers at the Botanical Gardens, and the hands come from my boyfriend. I like this image a lot even though it didn’t take a ton of time, so I feel like one of the ways I could make this better is if I spent more time on it.
Esther K- PANO
I named this picture “PANO.” I made this picture into a panorama because it shows everything from one whole point of view. I used Photoshop to merge all of the pictures together and then I changed the color of the image a little bit. I changed the vibrance and the color contrast and lowered it just a little bit to make the picture look more realistic.

Landon H- Direct Contact
I took this photo at the Birmingham Zoo on February 2nd, 2019 with my Canon SL1. I was using a 75-250mm lens and was getting close so I could get a lot of compression and a shallow depth of field to really make the owl pop. I spent all of my time in Lightroom making color corrections and sharpening. I did crop it to a 4x5 to really focus in on the Owl.
Olivia H- Fuzzy
I named this picture Fuzzy because that is what the flower or plant looks likes. To edit I just cropped into the plant and sharpened it. I also adjusted the color some. I didn’t do much editing. I took this with may cannon T-6 camera. I would like to do more with it but I’m not sure what so any ideas are welcomed!
Charis H- Split
I named this picture Split, I took it with my Canon Rebel XSi at Briarwood in their ballet studios. For editing, I used Nik collection filters such as Dfine 2, Tonal Contrast, and Classic Camera 7. I also did some spot healing on the floor to clean up some spots. I sharpened the girls bun and highlighted it so it had more color and contrast to the rest of the picture.
Alicia U- Purple Flowers
I named this picture Purple Flowers. I took serval pictures of pink flowers about a year ago when I was at my godmothers house in her backyard. It was on a Sunday morning and I took this picture with a canon STL1. I then went into photoshop and created a kaleidoscope image and I turned out with this. I liked how it came out I made the background go to black and focus more not the flowers. I also changed the color of the flowers to make it pop more. I also played with the curves of the picture to make it brighter or make it darker. I would make it better by making the background black because their are open spaces that you can see original background.
Lauren B- Cameron Looks Left
I call this photo Cameron Looks Left because that is the subject and action taking place. I took this picture a few days ago outside the new band room with my Canon Ti6. I edited it by cleaning up his face and blurring the background just a bit. I also put a Nik Collection filter on it and increased the color contrast. I think this photo could be better if I cropped out what is in the bottom left corner.
Emily R- Chasing the Sunset
The title of my image is chasing the sunset. This was taken at the Galleria and it was taken at sunset with my Cannon. I could turn up the clarity a little bit, but overall I like the way it turned out.
Dalton C. - Overgrown
The title of this image is “Overgrown”, it was taken at the Bessemer train station sometime before Christmas. I took it with my Canon Rebel, I edited it by turning up the saturation and increasing the cast on the picture. I think it could be better if I took it from a better angle so the building is not crooked.
Braxton S.- Planes
The title of my image is “Planes”. I this image on January 31, 2019, at around 4:45 PM. I took this on a trail by my house. It was taken with my Canon 50D. I edited it by turning it to black and white and lowering the exposure and lighting. I think it could be better if I got the whole plane in the picture.

Alex H - B&W Portrait
I took this portrait of my friend for our composite project, but I didn’t end up using it because I wanted to keep it simple. I edited it by taking out everything from the background so she would be there and there would be nothing else to really draw your eye. I made it black and white and messed with the contrast until I liked it. I think the image could be better if it was clearer.
Alexa S- Flower Girl
The title of this image is Flower Girl. This is a composite image of Emily and a separate picture of flowers. Both were taken on my Canon SL1. To edit this picture, I put her on white background and then placed the flowers behind her. Then I put a gradient map on it to change the colors to black, grey, and pink. To make it better, I would have made her blend into the background more, so the outline of her doesn’t standout as much.

Carson R- Day Dreaming
This image is entitled “Day Dreaming”. It was taken in November in Old Helena when we snuck onto someone’s property and used their gazebo as a prop. I took this with my Nikon d3400. I increased the contrast of this image and thoroughly adjusted the saturation in order to have the yellow and blue colors. I used Nik Collection in order to soften the image slightly giving it the dreamy effect. I think this image would be better if her face was slightly more visible.
Jacob T- Wagon Wheel
I took this picture with my Canon Rebel T6 and it was taken at Myers Plants and Pottery. It was taken towards the beginning of the year. I used this picture for an assignment on texture. I edited it by sharpening it and increasing the contrast to try and bring out the weird texture of the glue on the wagon wheel. I think this could be better if the background was more plain and didn’t look as gritty as it does. I tried adding a heavy vignette to reduce the background but It still comes through.

Olivia H. - Green
This is a picture of fern at my house. I took this with my Canon T-6 camera. To edit this picture I brightened the image and I bumped up the contrast. I sharpened the image and bumped the color. I burned the edges of the photo and some of the plant itself to show some more detail. I do like the colors in this photo and I like the detail you can see. I would defiantly make this better by having it all be sharp and in focus. If you have any suggestions let me know. :)
Heath M- Hidden
This picture is titled “Hidden”. I took this with my Canon EOS 80D when my friend and I went on a hike around 3 to 5ish. I edited this picture by using the creative filters option on my camera, sharpening it, compositing it, and cleaning it up a bit with the adjustments toolbar. At the time, I cannot think o any other ways that I could make it better. Overall, I enjoyed this picture and thought it turned out alright.
Danielle M - Smoke in the Water
The title of this image is “Smoke in the Water”. I took this with my Nikon D5100 at my friend’s house. In order to edit this image, I used the Nik Collection filters, made the image itself a composite by adding other images that I took at her house, and used a smoke brush to accent the smoke from the images with the candle. I like this image a lot, but might’ve changed the way the lighting is.
Lauren B- Yuli Brick Stairs
I call this photo Yuli Brick Stairs because it’s a picture of my friend Yuliana on a set of brick stairs. I took this photo with my Canon Ti6 on January 28th at Mars Hill church on 150. I edited it with some brightening, contrast, vibrance and use of the dodge and burn tool. I think it could be better if her face wasn’t so grainy.
Jacob T- Packard Front
This is a picture of a 1951 Packard 400. I took this with my Canon rebel T6 at a Gas station downtown by Giuseppe’s. I sharpened, increased the color, and added a HDR filter to the picture. It was taken towards the end of the second nine weeks. I really like how the colors turned out. I wish that the background was more plain so that the Packard would be more the only focus in the picture. I also think it would look better if it wasn’t so tightly cropped. I had to crop in really tight to because there was a truck to the right of the Packard.
Hannah J- SIGHT
This image is named SIGHT. It was taken at the Grand Canyon over the summer. I took it with my Canon PowerShot and edited it by adjusting the colors and adding a filter. It might be improved with a better angle and having the whole thing in focus.

Landon H - Book to life
I took this photo in the Barnes and Noble. I did some color correction in Lightroom but I spent most of my time in photoshop creating the sparks and glowing effect coming out from the book. I did the finalization in Lightroom once again. If I could change one thing about this photo it would be the clearness of the photo because you can see some grain in her face.
Carson R - Down the Road
This image is entitled “Down the Road”. It was taken in St. George Island, Florida. I took it with my Nikon d3400. I edited this by increasing the contrast greatly so the sky would show all of the colors. I also increased the sharpness a little. I think this image would be better if one of the palm trees on the right was not so sharpened.
Mollie E- "Tiny Flower"
The title of this image is “Tiny Flower” and it was taken at botanical gardens back in the fall. I took this picture wit my Nikon d3400 camera. To edit this image, I used the basic adjustments in Photoshop and then I added a filter with the Analog Efex Pro. I love the way this image turned out and I don’t think I would do anything to change it.
Emily R- Chasing Grain
The title ion this image is Chasing Grain. This was taken around February 1st near the grove. I just darkened it a little and brightened her eyes for a dramatic affect. It could be a little clearer, but over all I like the vibe of this picture.
Abby W- Dotted
To begin this composite, I created a background layout by using the ellipse tool to make the dots. I then placed the image of Emily with the banana phone on top of the dots. I edited her to increase brightness and contrast, as well as vibrance and adjusted slightly the saturation. I then applied the cutout filter to Emily to create the pop-art look I was going for. I think that the cutout adds a nice contrast to the crisp and stark dots of the background. I added a couple stroke lines around Emily to better separate her shirt from the black dots- applying a dark yellow one at 5px and then a lighter yellow one at 10px. I also used the clone stamp tool to copy her eye, as her left pupil did not pick up with the cutout filter. Overall I am pleased with the turnout, however I do wish that her facial features would stand out more.
