Landon Hammett - Boat by the Pond

The title of this image is “Boat by the Pond”. It’s self explanatory why I give it that title. I took this photo with my Canon SL1. I didn’t actually do much editing to it. Other than mess with the contrast and vibrance to really make the sunset pop. I took this over the summer while at a church camp. The sunset went from this pink into a deep red and blue. By far the prettiest sunset I have ever seen. The only thing I wish I could change about this photo is having the boat and foreground more visible and not as dark.

Austin C. - Lighthead

This was taken on October 9/10th in the studio in the photography room. It was taken with Mr. Rigsby’s Canon T6. I made the overall brightness a little lower and brightened up the different cylinders individually. I think it could be better if it wasn’t as grainy as it is. I also could of gotten. Little more detail.

Braxton S- Brickhouse

The title of my image is “Brickhouse” It was taken at my friend Dalton’s house at dusk. It was taken with my Canon 50D. I edited it by just playing with the levels until I found this. It could be better if the sky was brighter I think.

Olivia H. - Painted Face

I took this picture in my house for the site image assignment. She is standing in font of a door to brighten her. To edit I darkened the background to make make it black. I made image black and white then used the brush tool to at the paint effect on her face. I sharpened the image and tried to bring out the detail in her face the the brush. I took this picture with my cannon T-6. I really like this picture and I wish It could be less blurry.

Esther K- Leaves

The title of this selected image is “LEAVES.” This was taken this week and it was taken by some bushes and other leaves. It was taken with my iPhone. I used the Nik Collection to edit this picture and make it more contrasted and have more color and depth. It could be better if I got a better angle of the subject but other than that I think this picture is really good!!!

Michelle A- Night In Town

This picture was taken in Alabaster beside the railroads. There was like a small shopping outlet beside it. This was taken like late summer. And I used my Canon Rebel T6 camera and have it focused on the girl so the background could be blurry and sets a tone or type of mood.

Lauren B- South Summer Home

The title of this Image is Southern Summer Home. I actually took this on the campus of the University of South Alabama when I went at the beginning of September and I took it with my Canon rebel Ti 6. I edited this by adding a Nik collection filter to it, cleaning up a lot of rough spots and brightening it a bit to try and give it that summer feeling. It could be better if the image wasn’t quite as dark or yellow in some places.

Danielle M - Dog Days

This image is titled “Dog Days”. I took this photo with my Nikon D5100 in my back yard earlier in the summer. I edited it a lot, obviously, but it was definitely an experiment for me since I did it in my free time. I don’t quite remember the process since it was a while back, but I definitely sharpened it, used the dodge and burn tool, and changed the background color of the image using a specific filter from a program I had a free trial on. This image could be better if there wasn’t a blue-ish line on his head.

Jacob T- Low Key Goat

I called this picture Low Key Goat because it was taken for the low key assignment. This picture was taken at Oak Mountain Petting Zoo. I took the picture with my Cannon Rebel T6. I edited it by taking out the background by copying the background layer and selecting large area and coloring them in with the brush tool. Then I went around the goat and softened the black background so its not such a harsh line. I think it could have been a lot better if it was taken in a closed area with controlled lighting to get rid of the harsh lighting.

Raven H ~ Sunny Daze

I took this image in my friend’s backyard garden with my camera. I did very little editing other than Nik Collection filters and adjusting the coloration. I really love this image but wish the flower next to the glass mushroom was not as wilted.

Emily R-That 70's Foot

Title of this image is, Thats 70’s Foot, name given by Dalton Crain. This was taken here at the school in the studio. This was taken with a Canon. I first cut out the feet and put it on an image that I found. I inverted the colors and blurred out the sharp edges. It could be. A little neater. Other than that, I think this composite is pretty cool.

Alexa S- White Glare

The title of this image is White Glare. I took this picture in the Preserve on my Canon SL!. To edit this image, I sharpened it, and I used the dodge tool to brighten some of the dark areas to make it a high key image. This photo could be better if it was more in focus in some spots.

Zach B. - Angered

This is a photo that I accidentally took, but glad I took it. I thought this photo portrayed the Halloween spirit perfectly as it can be felt as eery. I think with the shutter speed being very slow allowing for the slightest of movement to blur helped portray the uneasy feeling. I didn’t do much to edit it as I was afraid if I tried altering it, I would of lost the idea behind it. All I did was add a bit of sharpening in some areas and cleaned up some of the visible areas that had some stuff in the background.

Carmen V- Rosario

It was taken on top of a white shelf. I took it with my Canon. I edited it by cropping it and focusing more on near the cross and I also added a filter so it could bring out more of the white parts.

Annalisa P- Rose

This image is just called “Rose”. I took it in my room, all I did was use a sweatshirt for the background and flattened it out as good as I could. This picture was taken with a Canon Rebel T6. I edited it by making the rose more vibrant and dark. I tried to make the background as dark as I could as well. It could be much better if I took the rose into the shooting room so I could have had a real background.

Carson R - Spring Showers

This image is entitled “Spring Showers”. It was taken outside of my hotel in Atlanta in May 2018. I took it with my Nikon d3400. I edited this image by increasing the contrast, adding a vignette, and playing with the color balance. I also used the Color Efex Nik Collection to edit this photo. I really like this image and don’t really think anything could make it better.

Alex H- Yellow Days, Harmless Melodies Remake

This Image is from my movie poster project. I took it with my Canon EOS Rebel T3Its a picture of my friend Keanu and it is a remake of the Yellow Days, Harmless Melodies album cover. I edited it by cutting out Keanu from the background and added him to a simple yellow image and from there I added noise to the image and corrected the color to match the album cover and blurred it some. I took a picture of city lights and it ended up blurry so I cut out some of it to cover his face. From there I just made sure it was all blended nicely and added three small dotted lines with the text tool. If I could fix it I would make his shirt all white because thats how the original is.

Will C- Margaret Working

This picture is of my friend Margaret working on a music box she was making by hand in her poetry class. I edited this picture to make her hands pop by making everything else black and white. The original picture had lots of brown earthy tones that I feel diminished the focus on her hands. I bumped up the saturation in her hands and then went in and did some shadowing to the background to once again make her hands stand out.

Alicia U- Yuliana

I took this photo in September. I had gone out with a couple of friends to take pictures and I took serval for one of my assignments. It was in the afternoon still having the day with some sun and extremely hot weather.  I took all my photos with a Canon STL1. All the photos that I took came out very good although I had to do some editing. I had ended up with this one of my friend Yuilana. I had to do some editing on her sunglasses, shirt, and the background. I had started off by fixing her sunglasses because they would show myself taking the picture but I started to clone stamp the sky into her sunglasses and the end result was very good. I then moved on to the background and brought out the color in the leaves which I think makes it good. I then moved to her shirt and changed the color of her shirt and made her headband brighter which makes the picture pop out more. I think it would be better if I removed some of the blemishes on her face.

Abby W- Lexie

I took this image in the studio of the photography room with a white background and full light- to create a bright image. I turned the image to black and white and adjusted the saturation to decrease the darkness of the blue in her eyes and the red in her skin. I used the burn tool to add some definition to the curvature of the nose and greater define the lining of the eye. I used the dodge tool to lighten the hair. I cropped the picture to have her better fill up the image, having her hair some what stray away from her face.

Jahred T- Nikon

This picture was taken with my camera at my house in my closet, I darkened the image and made it black and white, I wish I had a better location to take the picture and a better light that wasn’t so bright in the background. Its still a good picture tho

Omar S. - Sticky Notes

The of this image is Sticky Notes. It was taken in my office near the window with the blinds open to let in a lot more light. It was shot with my Nikon D3000. I set the exposure to 3.0 and placed the camera on the desk to limit the shaking of the camera. I light this image because of the bright white colors and the contrasting grey.

Charis H-Cup of Tea

I named this picture Cup of Tea. This picture was taken on my back porch later in the late afternoon. I took the picture with a Canon Rebel Xsi. When editing this picture I decreased the exposure and bumped up the contrast. I could have made it better by including some sort of a reflection in the tea to add another element.

Hannah J- Out Through the Window

This photo is named Out Through the Window. I took this picture at Alcatraz in California over the summer. I took this picture with my Canon PowerShot. I edited it by messing with the contrast and color. I would like it better if the blue sky was more even in color.

Arzoo Q- Baby Polaroid

I took this picture with my Canon camera. All I did to edit this picture was that I brightened the picture and made brightened the color. I love cameras so I thought since my cousin is over, why not let her hold my Polaroid camera.

Jahred T- Cactus Flower

This is a picture was taken with my camera and I didn’t edit it much besides the flower colors to purple. I wish I stood a little further back to take the shot. It could be better if I edit more

Jasmine W - Sunset

My picture is called “Sunset”. It was taken at Tip Top Grill on September 4th, 2018. I took it with my Canon PowerShot SX530 HS. I edited the picture on photoshop with the diffuse glow filter and bumped up the saturation and vibrance. I also cropped the picture in.

Macy M - Say Colorado

The image title is, “Say Colorado.” This was taken at the Birmingham Zoo on April 10, 2018. It was taken with my Nikon D3400. I increased the vibrance and saturation, and I sharpened it. I wish the lighting was different.

Michelle A-Empty Island

This photo was taken in George St. Island in Tallahassee, Florida. I chose it because it was an empty Island and I thought it was pretty cool how my family an I were basically having the island ourselves. And I used my iPhone 6s taking this picture. Just added a filter and adjust some more color and less lighting. -Michelle A. HHS

Olivia H- Magenta

For this picture, I took it with my Canon T-6. I took this at the Biltmore over the summer. To edit I brightened it some and I sharpened it and I adjusted the color to make it brighter and more on the warm side. I like this picture but I feel like I could’ve done more with it.

Lauren B- Bluff Park Wheel

I took this picture with my Canon Ti6 at Bluff Park. It was taken early this school year with my friend Natalie. I edited it by making the photo black and white and then turning the wheel back to its original red color. I also sharpened the image and cleaned up the wheel a little. I think this photo could be better if I had done a little better job with the selective coloring of the wheel, you can see bits of the grass in it.

Olivia N-Serene

The photo is called Serene and was taken in Hoover,Al on August 21,2018.I took this picture with my phone and edited in Photoshop.I edited the image by adjusting the saturation and brightness in certain areas. Also,by contrasting and adding shadows in the background and around the water. It could be better if it was focused more in places and centered better.

Mia R - Fear and Loathing

This picture was taken in my bath tub a few weeks ago. I took it with my Canon EOS Rebel SL1. I didn’t really do much editing I just made it a little darker I think.

Jacob T- Pittsburgh Night Building

I called this picture Pittsburgh night building because it was taken at night in Pittsburgh. It was taken during my family trip to Pittsburgh for my dad’s 50th birthday. It was taken with my Cannon T6 rebel. I edited it by sharpening it and turning it to black and white using the Niks Collection. I think that it could have been better if I had a longer exposure and a lower ISO. This was one of the first times that I have ever taken a picture at nighttime. I think that my shutter was too fast and so the ISO was high and made the whole picture noisy.

Zach B. - Blue Skies

This is a photo that I took while on my trip down to Fort Morgan, Gulf Shores. We arrived late Thursday night for Labor Day weekend which allowed for there to still be blue skies but color from the sunset to be setting in. I feel like it gives off a certain more intense feel with the blue tint from the skies. In this photo all I did to edit it was to sharpen some of the edges on the clouds and then bring the brightness down a bit. Other than that I really like the photo and the bird that looks like it is flying off into the colors of the sunset.

Hannah J- Wet Match

This picture is named Wet Match. It was taken while driving down the interstate over the summer. I took it with my Canon Powershot. I added filters to bring out the color in the light and the reflections in the rain drops. It might be improved if the vignette was more even.

Charis H- Color Haze

I gave this image the title of “Color haze” . It was taken in my house around mid-day. It was taken with a Cannon Rebel XSi I did some layering of smoke images and increase the saturation. I also created a mask of the background and cleared some of the smoke away from the face of the subject to draw more attention to it.

Danielle M - Black and White

I took this image at the Botanical Gardens with my Nikon D5100. I used a wide variety of editing techniques, but mostly focused on removing color from the image and adding “dirt and scratches” with the Nik Collection. I think it would be better if the rose was centered better.

Will C- Andrew Jackson

This picture is called Andrew Jackson because it is taken of the Andrew Jackson statue in New Orleans. I took this last spring on my trip to New Orleans with First Edition and to edit it I made the sky a little bit more vibrant but largely left all the colors the same. To finish the photo I edited out 6 power lines that ran the length of the picture in the background so that they weren’t a distraction at all from anything else in the picture. I think this picture itself doesn’t have much I’d change about it to make it better but I think it’s just not a picture that stands out very much.

Dalton C. - Balance

The title of this image is “Balance”. It was taken at the Ross Bridge Train tracks a few weekends ago. I took this image with my Canon Rebel T1i. I edited it by adjusting the levels and then turning up the saturation, I also cropped it. I think it could’ve been better if there was more going on in the picture.

Austin C. - The Blue Head

The photo I have selected is called “The Blue Head”. It was taken at a garden awhile back. I took it with my Nikon D3300. I bumped up the brightness and exposer as well as the contrast of the image. I could be better if it was a bit more in focus. It also could be better if I was a little closer to the statue.

Emily R- Alexa NJ

Alexa Nj is the title of this image, this was obviously taken in NJ at a boardwalk. This was taken with my Sony camera. All I did was make this picture brighter, more colorful, and straightened it. It could be better, if I had a preset that I like that I could put on it. Overall, this picture brings bak many memories and I love it.
