Courtni D- Rocks

This photo was taken August 25, 2022 at my home. It was taken with my Canon EOS 2000D. This photo is unedited. I think is would be better if I darkened it a bit.

CAROLINE M- Gaga Ball

This image is titled Gaga Ball. It was taken November 5th 2022 at camp cosby. All I really did to edit it was I brightened it and made the colors more vibrant. I wish the people in the back could be less more noticeable.

Carol A- The Start of Fall

The title for this image is The Start of Fall, this was taken in front of my house on Oct 12, and with my Canon EOS, I lowered the exposure and messed with the contrast. I think it would have been better if I had blurred the background a bit more.

Drew B- The Black Parade

This image was taken with myNikon D5600. I had a lot of fun doing these photos but it was hard to get the lighting with how pitch black it was but with the power of editing made the photos come out much better.

Akelsa N- Euphoria Mia

I took this in the Photo Studio/ What it was taken with Mr Risby's camera. I didn't edit it at all and I wish the lighting was some better.

Mia N - Outside

This picture was taken by the school on one of the patches of grass outside. It was taken with one of Mr. Rigsby's cameras. This picture is unedited.

Aidan P City Lights

I named this image City Lights just because it was a simple name to remember and because it kind of looks like lights you would see from space when looking down on Earth. I took this a few months ago with my iphone and it was of a wind chime. The moss on it and the details of it was what made the lights. I had already edited the picture and I was just messing around with it to test. I tried the contrast only filter again and when changing some of the brightness, color, contrast, and things like that it turned out like this. I honestly don’t know how it that happened and if it had something to do with the editing before but I liked it. I do think in some parts it is blurry and there could be more lights but overall I think it’s at least interesting.

Paris C- Sink Hole

I named this image the Sink Hole because of the big hole in the middle to me it looks like it punched a whole through the bush and swallowed everything in its path. It was taken a few days ago in the bush next to my bus stop. I made it black and white because I think it looks better that way, especially because you can see every detail. I think it's perfect the way it is and I like it honestly.

MaKena C - Trey

The name of this photo is “Trey” because the subject is my friend Trey. It was taken at the Homewood park about 2 months ago. It was taken with a Nikon D3500. I didn’t do much to it. I just cropped it a bit and used Color Efex Pro.

Martha Claire D- Mother Earth

The title of this image is “Mother Earth”. This photo was included in my sustained investigation series 2, where I was creating photos that helped to represent the Greek Goddess of the Harvest, Demeter. This was taken in a field out in Helena back in September. It was taken with my Nikon D5100. I edited this image by adding a vintage filter from the NIK collection, I also edited the coloring so that the green and orange tones popped. I also added texture to the photo in order to give it a more earthy and organic feeling. I wish that the sky had more color to it.

Aiden S- Justin

This photo was taken for my Sustained Investigation 3 assignment. It was taken with my Canon Rebel T7. This photo I tried bringing alcohol usage and showing awareness that even the more simple people can have their problems with addiction. I think I could of done better if I have brightened his face more and made the photo more clear but other than that I really like what I have done.

Caeden H- Sunny Fall Day

The title of this image is “Sunny Fall Day”. I took this picture on October 25th in Gatlinburg, Tennessee. I took this with my Iphone 12 pro. I edited first in the apple photos app by cropping in on the image, increasing that contrast, saturation, and vibrance. I took it into a different editing app after that and played with the curves and also put a filter over it to really bring out the fall colors.

Shae M- Suffocation

The title of my image is “Suffocation”. I took this photo on October 23rd at Star Lake with my Nikon D3500. I wanted this photo to show how suffocating it can feel to live with anxiety. I edited it by raising the contrast and changing the photo to black and white. I also played with the levels to bring out the pure whites and blacks in the photos to give it a more suffocating and dark feel. I also adjusted the brightness so you could see the features in the photos, but I made sure it was not too bright. I think it could be better if some minor imperfections such as hairs and rips in the bag were fixed. I also would have liked to crop it differently. Overall, I was happy with the results of this image.

Linley W- Soul

The title of this picture is Soul. I took this picture a couple of weekends ago in my front yard. I took this picture with my Nikon D2500 camera. I edited this picture in a lot of different ways. I made the eye picture brighter. I added different flower pictures that I took in the past over the summer, and layered each of them on top of the other. I brightened up each of the flowers, added color and saturation, and added warmth to the overall picture. Then, I added the oil paint filter on top of it in order to give the picture a flowy look. I also brightened up the eye and made the green stand out a lot. I really like this picture. However, I wish there were flowers surrounding the eye.

Nora G- Sunset Building

This image was taken last year downtown. I loved the time of day and the lighting was really pretty. I don't remember what I did much with editing but I really liked this image.

Betsey S - Spinning

The tittle of this image is Spinning because when trying to capture this photo I told mia to just keep spinning. I was taken in the photo lab during our story illustration. It was taken with one of mr. rigsbys cameras. I turned down the exposure but didnt really edit it any other way. I wasnt trying to make it blurry but I dont mind how it turned out.

Allie S- Red

The title of my selected image is Red. It was taken Nov 1, 2022 at my house. It was taken with a Canon Rebel XS. I didn’t do a ton of editing to this image. I brought up the saturation and brilliance and brought down the highlights a little bit. I wouldn’t have minded getting a little bit of a different angle and maybe having the words be a little more clear.

Brandon B- Vibin'

I decided to call this photo “Vibin’” due to the subject actually vibing out.  I took this on October 21st this year during one of my night shifts at Chick Fil A. This was taken with my iPhone 13 Pro.  I edited this by taking some of the blurry shots and masking over to give a shake effect.  Finally I added a color filter to give some color to add to the vibe.  This could be better had the photo been more intentional.  But turned out alright for a quick snapshot.

Madison R - The Curious Fawn

This photo was taken over the summer in Key West with my Nikon D3400 camera. I edited it by using the Camera Raw filter and adding a sepia filter that is blended into the image. Originally I wouldn’t say I liked this photo because it was very foggy but the Camera Raw filter helped add detail and sharpen the image. Overall I really like the finished product!

Ayla S- Budding Flower

The title of this image is “Budding Flower.” It was taken in my neighbor’s yard in October. This photograph was taken with my Canon EOS Rebel T6. To edit this image, I increased the contrast, saturation, and made the image sharper. It could be better if it was cropped differently.

Maddie T- Little Brother

This image was taken with my Canon Rebel t100 and not edited, it was taken for the reflections assignment using a camera prism. It is of my younger brother.

Alex B- Pumpkin Eater

I named this “Pumpkin Eater” due to the fact we were carving pumpkins the day this was taken and the ducks were eating the guts. I thought it would be a cute name. I took this at Georgetown Park in Hoover on the 29th of October. I took the photo with my canon rebel. I used sharpening, nik collection and the raw filters and cropped it very slightly. I wish I had held the camera more steady and the photo was less shaky.

Bess H - Chains

The title of this image is “Chains” and I took it in the studio. This photo was taken about a month ago and it was for my sustained investigation. I used the Rebel T6i. I cropped in on this image and turned it black and white. I think that I used a Nik collection filter as well. I played around with the brightness, contrast, and levels. I wish I would have had more focus on the chains, they are a little blurry.

Ani W- Grainy Exit

I’ve titled this image Grainy Exit because (even though it’s not the best name out there), I made the picture grainy to seem like it’s from an old film found in an abandoned place, and overlaid an exit sign over the original image. I even added more lighting to really accentuate the shadows in the original hallway picture. Both images were taken this year at a local storage unit on October 23rd. I took the photos with my Canon EOS Rebel T-7 camera. I edited it by overlaying one image over another, then making the image black and white to make the dark and light areas really stand out. I then shifted the overlayed image horizontally and added a grainy filter to make it seem like the photo was old and deteriorating. I really like the way this image turned out, but I think this photo could have been better if it was less altered and a bit clearer.

Martha Claire D- King of the Gods

The title of this image is King of the Gods. This is a photo from my sustained investigation series 1 where I am exploring greek gods and goddesses, this photoshoot being centered on the Greek god Zeus. This was taken in September in the photo studio at school. It was taken with one of the class cameras. In order to edit this my goal was to make it look like a tabloid photo that catches Zeus in the act of cheating. I wanted to give it a classic and ageless look to the photo. I used the classic camera filter as well as increasing the saturation to make the lipstick marks pop.  One thing that does bother me in the photo is how dark the hair is on the skin, I wish i had been able to exclude that piece from the dark contrast.

Caeden H- Lone Road

This image is titled “Lone Road”. I took this picture on a weekday a few weeks ago while I was hiking on a trail. I took this photo with my Iphone 12 pro. I edited this picture in the photos app first. I just gave it some more clarity by increasing the exposure, contrast, and saturation. I then moved to photoshop and used the Nik collection filters to add more visual appeal to the image. I also did a good amount of spot correction to get other leaves and sticks that were on the trail off so that the leaf in the foreground was the main focal point.

Maddie T- Judah and the Lion

This photo is of the band “Judah and the Lion” before going on stage at their show in Birmingham. The band asked me to do all of their behind the scenes work at this show so I was able to capture moments like this before they performed. It was taken with my Canon T-100 with a  50 mm lens. It was edited in Adobe Lightroom, and it is currently displayed on my personal website and instagram (@maddieturnerphotos) and will soon be on the bands instagram page!

Paris C- Anime

This image I took was named anime because it gives me an anime type of vibe. I was yet again taken to Hoover High School in their courtyard. I made the image black and white and darkened it so the light can stand out more. But the rest was nature and she did her thing. In my opinion it does not need to be changed any more or any less.

Alex B- Trees in The Water

I named this photo “Trees in The Water” This was taken at the cahaba river on September 30th with a Canon EOS Rebel T6, I edited this image using photoshop, I used the raw camera filter and shapened the image. If the rocks were less shiny and more focused i think the image would be better.

MaKena C - Witch

I took this photo over the summer at my grandmother’s house. I didn’t do much to it I just changed the contrast and color a little. I can’t tell if I want it to be sharper or not. I kinda like the soft look.

Madison R - "The Veiled Nun"

This is a photo I took over the summer in the Gallery of Art in Washington, DC. This photo was taken with my Nikon D3400 camera. I edited it by adding a black-and-white filter, bringing down the highlights, and adding a vignette. I think the photo could have been a little clearer or sharper but other than that I really liked this shot!

Carol A- Alone with a Book

 No statement provided

Courtni D- Light

This was taken September 28th of this year here at school. It was taken with Mr. Rigby’s Canon EOS Rebel T3. I barely did anything to this photo but I edited the lighting adjustments in the Photos app. I think if I tried to go to photoshop and played around a bit it could be a little better. I just have a habit of not going to photoshop unless I have to.

Bess H - The Struggle

This image is titled “The Struggle”. The picture tackles the idea of the struggles that people with addiction have. This photo was taken about 3 weeks ago in the studio. I cropped some of this image and turned it black and white. I also did some things with the contrast and added a black gradient to the image. I also used a Nik collection filter to get some more detail. I wish that I would have tried to do this image in color.

A'Kelsa N- Coral

I took this picture of Coral in the room. It was taken for the moods assignment. No editing was done.

Ani W- Pink Neon Lights

I’ve titled this image Pink Neon Lights and took this image a few weeks ago near Shades Valley. The sun was setting so the lighting was at the perfect angle to capture the shadows of the car. I took this image with my Canon EOS Rebel T-7 camera. I edited this image on photoshop by lowering the brightness, increasing the saturation, adding headlights to the car, changing the tone and hue of the lights, and adding a vintage filter from the Nik collection. I also shifted the image a little bit to the left giving it the sense that the car is moving. If I were to change something about the image, I would probably change the brightness of the image, getting rid of the headlights that I added to the car.

Nora G- Snow Storm

This is a photo from my old house a few years ago when we had a snow storm. I like it because I like the way you can see the icicles on the water fountain for the pool. I am not sure how I edited it but I think I used some type of filter and changed the lighting.

Mia N- Lights

This picture was taken in the studio on Sep 29. It was taken with one of Mr. Rigsby’s cameras. This picture is unedited.

Betsey S - Doritos

The title of this image if Doritos because she had eaten them and the dust is on her fingers. It was taken in the photography lab for the hands and feet project. It was taken with on of mr rigsbys camera. I used the dodge burn tool to darken and brighten her fingers. I think the fingers could fill the frame more.

Shae M- Stages of Anxiety

The title of my image is “Stages of Anxiety”. With this image, I wanted to show the different moods and emotions people experience with anxiety. I took this photo about two weeks ago in the studio. I used my Nikon D3500 to take this photo. I edited it by merging 3 different images together and lowering the opacity on each of them so you can see all three of them at the same time. I also raised the contrast and the brightness so they were not so dark. Finally, I used a Nik collection filter to add more color to the photos. It could be better if the images were blended in a more clean way.

Linley- Rebirth

This photograph is titled Rebirth. I took this picture at my house three and a half weeks ago, roughly. By the way, this picture symbolizes how birth control often makes women feel like they are “rebrithed” and have a new life. I took this picture with my Nikon camera. I edited this by making the Smartie candy more center on the tongue. I brightened up the skin and added butterflies to the overall picture due to the fact that butterflies symbolize rebirth and innocence. I added some color and vibrance to each butterfly in order to make them stand out more. I also added the word “rebirth” to the Smartie in order toe emphasize that birth control represents rebirth to a majority of people that take it. This picture could be better if the text on the tongue was more visible, and if the skin was not as grainy as it appears.

Allie S- Never Be Enough

The title of my image is Never Be Enough. It was taken in the studio at Hoover High School on Sep 19, 2022. It was taken with a Canon Rebel T7. I edited the image by playing with the saturation and lighting. I also a nik collection filter and added text which I masked. I kind of wouldn’t mind changing the text I don’t totally love it.

Aiden S - Abandoned

I called this abandoned because it was taken in the abandoned hospital downtown called carraway. I used my Canon T7 Rebel to shoot the photo and turned the brightness up just a bit. It was taken during the summer. I used a bit of Nik Collection and adjusted the brightness and shadows. I think I could have tried making some of the graffiti stand out or just make the photo more defined.

Ayla S - Laughter

The title of this image is “Laughter.” It was taken at the softball park behind my house in September. I took it with my Canon Rebel T6. To edit this photo I added saturation and grain. It could have been better if it was in a different location.

Aidan P- Porch Light

This image was taken for the hands and feet assignment on my back porch with one of the lights hanging around it so I just named it porch light. I took this with my iphone at night and used my hand to grab it. I took the pictures a few times before I got a steady image that was clear and level. When I edited it I made the bulb a little darker for less of a glare and more detail with it and the hand. After that I went into the color effects filter and used the color contrast filter with some little adjustments. I can’t think of anything specific I’d want to change but I would like to try it in black and white.

Drew B- Mary

I'm love this photo I took it with my Nikon D5600 and I played around with the lighting and made parts darker and brighter.

Brandon B- The Night Blue

I titled this image, “The Night Blue”, as the cops are sometimes referred to as the blue.  Plus the blue lights at night give it this obvious name.  I took this picture coming out of Zaxby’s in my mom’s car, and on the side of the road were many cop cars around a wreck with their lights on.  Thought it might make a cool lights image, and it ended up looking pretty cool I think.  A little abstract but still good.  It was taken Sep 27, 2022 with my iPhone 13 Pro. I edited this with some simple lighting and contrast.  Finally added a bit of fog for dramatic effect.  This could be better had I been able to get out of the car and stand still to take the shot.

Courtni D- Purple Light Storm

This is a photo of a projector light. I took this image on September 5, 2022 at my room. I was taken with my Canon EOS 2000D. I edited this photo in the photos app adjusting the lighting and color options. I think this photo could be better if I had photographed it with something other than the light.

CAROLINE M- Point

This photo is called point, it was taken at moss rock in the preserve on August 28. It was taken with my Nikon D3300. I edited it by lowering the exposure and the brightness and I heightened the saturation but not by much. I love the perspective of this picture but i do wish she was sticking out a little bit more, she was blending into the background.

Madison R - Happy Monkey

This photo was taken in the Washington, DC National Zoo over the summer. This was taken with my Nikon D3400 Camera. I edited it by bringing up the saturation and the brilliance and bringing down the highlights and brightness. I also sharpened the image. I think this photo could be better if the branches in the background weren't so large and distracting.
