Maya H - Wasp

The title of this photo is "Wasp"; I took it in January with my Canon Rebel SL1 camera and a close-up lens—it is of a dead wasp on a glass table on my porch. This image is an alternate edit of one I used for Series 5 of my Sustained Investigation; it differs in that this one's hue is adjusted and saturation increased. The boost in the saturation really enhances the chromatic aberration that was much more subtle in the original edit as well as the digital artifacting present in the image, which is a "flaw" I enjoy utilizing and exaggerating in my work.

This image is bold and unsettling in an effective way. The close-up angle and intense color shifts create a strong emotional impact, while the increased saturation and chromatic aberration give it an experimental feel. I like how the artist embraces digital flaws instead of hiding them. Overall, it turns a simple subject into something expressive and striking.
