Surya P - In His Hands

I took this image on my Nikon D750, in Madrid Spain over the summer. When editing, I cropped it and centered the man more. I also made it black and white, lowered the exposure, and turn up the blacks in the image to make the man blacked out. I’m not sure what I’d do to change it, maybe if I had shot it with the cross more visible I think I’d like it a little more.

This photo is really cool! I like the contrast in lighting between the statue and the sky. I think the dark and light areas make the statue stand out really well. CS-HHS

I really like how the silhouette and black-and-white edit create a strong sense of mystery and mood. Centering the statue was a good choice because it makes the figure feel powerful and important. I also think lowering the exposure and deepening the blacks successfully separates the subject from the bright sky. One thing you could try is slightly adjusting contrast or clarity around the cross so it stands out more clearly. Overall, this image feels dramatic and thoughtful, and the editing choices support that feeling well.
