Shelby S- Quiet Light

This portrait, which I would title “Quiet Light,” was taken indoors against a simple white backdrop. The image was shot with a digital camera using a portrait setup and soft, directional lighting to create strong shadows and highlights across the subject’s face. In editing, warm tones were enhanced—especially the subtle light leak effect at the bottom—to give the photo a nostalgic, almost film-inspired feel, while contrast was adjusted to emphasize depth and mood. The natural expression and candid pose make the image feel intimate and authentic. It could be improved slightly by softening some of the harsher shadows on the face or adjusting the framing to give a bit more breathing room above the head. Overall, the combination of warm lighting, relaxed posture, and minimal background creates a compelling and emotionally expressive portrait.

This photo is so cute! I really like the vintage filter and the soft lighting which gives it that nostalgic vibe. I also love how you caught your model while she was laughing! It adds a lot of emotion to your picture! Great job! -VS HHS
