Maya H - Animal-Reminder
The title of this photo is "Animal-Reminder", taken during the heart dissection in Anatomy class. It is a photo of some of the internal structures of the heart, including a vessel (I do not recall which) on the top-middle and some fat on the left side. The title refers to the idea of "animal-reminder disgust", which is the feeling one can get when they are reminded that they, too, are simply an animal and mortal. I chose to reference this idea because I feel that this photo's subject matter (inside of an internal organ—you, too, are just meat; if you were put on the dissection table, your heart would look just the same as this pig's), as well as that of much of my other work, is able to depict this feeling and evoke it in the viewer.

I have to admit, you are braver than most here for posting this here. For that I admire you, that boldness can allow you to do great things if you choose to pursue a career in photography. The subject itself is disturbing, unsurprisingly, but the slight vignette on the edge makes your eyes explore deeper into the heart. A real sweet piece of work this is, keep it up!
